“Two Day Staycation”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

My wife and I stayed at The Oak Bay Beach Hotel for two nights, May3rd and 4th 2014. They have a few pet friendly rooms with ground level walkouts which allowed us to take the puppy along. The comfortable room, with a single King bed had great views of the garden and the ocean. It was equipped for food preparation in the room. There was a table and chairs on a patio just outside the sliding door. Everyone we encountered was courteous and helpful. For dinner on Saturday evening they phoned to offer a better table if we could just come half an hour later than our reservation and they delivered a window-side table with perfect views. The dining room is small and quiet. It is entirely possible to converse with your partner without shouting. The food and wine were first rate as was the service. This is a fine place to stay in Victoria area. Oak Bay is an easy 20 minute walk and there are plenty of interesting strolls to take without ever having to use your car ..whether your interest is fine homes, golf courses or views of the Olympic Mountains in Washington State. On the hotel grounds are swimming pools, spa, hot tubs and a large new live theatre which was not open this weekend. It was great.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have longer views but no direct access to pools etc. The whole place is quiet.

Great Staff and a great location. Was travelling on business and pleasure. Needed a 2 night stay. Beds were fantastic. Was fortunate to play at the Victoria Golf and Country Club (private golf course, founded late 1800's right across the street. It has a few holes on the ocean, BC's Pebble Beach of the north! Well appointed rooms with all required amenities (and more). One of the members I golfed with at VGCC commented they haven't been to the Hotel in awhile as the Bar is too small. He suggested they should have considered a better layout. But that's the only small design flaw. I'll be back.

I chose this hotel based on reviews and it did not disappoint but I was blown away but the great service and stunning location. Everything is super clean and top notch. I don't normally use public pools, due to chlorine and temperature but when I found out these were mineral pools (still had chlorine but less) AND it was heated to 85F I was IN! I was so beautifully relaxing to hang out in those pools while gazing into the vast ocean. Only thing is there were no towels by pool or in nearby gym so had to go retrieve them.

Beds are super comfy, shower and tub were perfect and little kitchenette was nice. Would not stay anywhere else in Victoria.

First this gem of a hotel is nestled in the prettiest neighborhood in Victoria! Take time for a walk around the neighborhood or rent one of the hotels sweet bikes.
The hotel itself is deluxe from the building itself, the furniture, the grounds and the staff. Everyone is so polite, friendly and helpful.
Wonderful relaxing atmosphere. As a matter of fact we spent most of our time lounging outside at the fabulous pool area. Swimming in the beautiful pool, reading and enjoyed a drink while watching the sailboats in the distance. Don't hurry this experience it's well worth enjoying. Also the pool/ hot tubs are open all day/night if you feel like a midnight swim. The water is warm and no nasty chlorine . We topped it all off with great massages which are done in peaceful, luxe and very private rooms.
The spa appointments get booked up quickly so phone ahead a week or more so as not to be disappointed .
There are several options for dining and the food is really good and service is great. Again it gets busy here so be prepared. Relax, have a cocktail!
I'd encourage anyone to enjoy the Oak Bay Beach Hotel experience, you won't want to leave!!! Don't stay here if you have a million things to do in Victoria because you will want to spend time enjoying this beautiful hotel for all it has to offer.

Room Tip: Overlooking the water is a nice option.

What an amazing weekend we spent at OBBH. A beautifully appointed ocean view room, staff for whom nothing was too much trouble, a beautiful pool, hot tubs and a delightful spa. Thank you so very much to all the staff for your help in making our 40th Wedding Anniversary a truly memorable experience. To accommodate our particular circumstances (our 10 month old grandson) a private family dinner was arranged for our room. The food and wine pairings were exquisite and so special thanks go to an extremely talented chef and sommelier. Can't wait to return!

This was truly an outstanding stay. The accommodation and facilities were excellent. The food and beverages at the Snug and Kate's Cafe were superb and reasonably priced. All staff were quick to help, friendly and courteous.

Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Waterview is the best!

A wonderful high end hotel experience in the peaceful area of victoria region. Generally quiet and relaxing. Great friendly staff. Free luxury car shuttle to downtown. Great area to walk, jog, bike..comfortable rooms and beds ( great pilows) hot pools included. Wife and I spent easter weekend here and had a very relaxing trip. Caught the nashville show (dinner and performance in the davd, foster theatre built into the hotel) courtyard rooms faces Drive in entrance but surprising quiet. Short 15 min walk to oak bay village with shops, art galleries, and eateries (greeat italian deli at top of the hill.) Grand independent hotel experience without paying Fairmont hotel type prices. A piece of old victoria updated with great success. Rooms start at around $235 all in a night , but its worth treating yourself. Experience a different side of victoria. One drawback is you have to walk outside from the hotel to get the spa rooms and baths which can be cold and wet especially in the winter early spring months....umbrellas and terracloth robes provide free though....a specia place...
