We decided to treat ourselves and stay at a fancy hotel for once in our lives. I picked a good one to try. We stayed in a grand suite and had a separate bedroom with a king size bed, french doors leading from the bedroom to the sitting room, a pass through washroom with two sinks on either side, two TV's (one in the bedroom and one in the sitting room), two cabinets for clothes, a closet for coats, a desk and balcony. Heat and air conditioning is controlled by a panel on the wall and the room heats up and cools down quickly. Do Not Disturb controls are also on the thermostat. The thermostat easily switches from Fahrenheit to Celsius.

The rooms are clean, the bathroom comes with toiletries in case you forgot something, the maid service is excellent, the beds are comfortable and everyone in the hotel is very friendly and helpful. There is an iron and ironing board in the closet, which works well. We had a corner suite and the balcony was very tiny. Just enough room for two chairs. We never sat out on it, but we had a partial view of the harbour. The elevators are fast. We never had to wait for one longer than 30 seconds, no matter the time of day.

The restaurant is very good. We ate their the first night for dinner. We had the salmon and it was fresh and prepared well. The waiters were very attentive. We had breakfast at the cafe in the basement of the hotel a few days. Prices were what you would expect from a hotel but really not that much more expensive than the restaurants in the area. We ended up eating breakfast a few times at the hotel next door.

The hotel pool is a little cool but refreshing after a hot day. There is room to splash around in and two lanes for those wanting to do laps. There is a lap clock on the wall. The entire pool is at a depth of 4'. They also have a kiddie pool that was a good size and a perfect temperature hot tub that allowed you to stay in there for the full 15 minutes. Next to the pool was a sauna, steam room and a full exercise room.

Access to the cafe which served breakfast and lunch was either through the basement of the hotel or through the front street which was easier. The business centre is located next to the cafe and really not readily accessible, again either through the basement or from the street. We choose valet parking and the staff at the front were always right there to help you out of your vehicle, bring it around when you needed it or help with directions. I never tried any of the spa services which is located across the hall from the cafe.

This hotel is central to every tourist thing you may want to do, so renting a car is not really necessary for site seeing around Victoria proper. There is a shuttle to and from the airport and cabs stop by all the time.

Dear Guest,

Wow! Thank you for such a your positive review.

I was pleased to hear that you enjoyed our close to it all location, The Victoria Athletic Club and its 25 metre lap pool and both our Pacific Restaurant and Courtyard Café.

I was thrilled to read that you think our colleagues service is top notch – I agree! It is their dedication to hospitality that is the backbone of our business. Without their efforts we would not have the reputation we do today. I will be pleased to share your note with them.

Thank you once again for your thoughts. We appreciate your patronage and hope to have the privilege of having you back.

Regards,

This hotel is located in a very good location, only few minutes walk to all city attractions. Our room was spacious and comfortable, however I didn't like twin beds. Bathroom was clean and tidy with variety of toiletries. We stayed here for only one night and we really enjoyed it. I recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel and our room was looking towards the harbour where the cruise ships come in. Our room was very nice and the housekeeping service was excellent. They have a great system that you can use to get your room made up that is attached to your room thermometer.....we ate breakfast in the restaurant everyday (5 day stay) and the service was very good and the staff were extremely friendly. The only reason I would not give this hotel a 5 out of 5 is that when we went to the bar the local beer on the menu was Blue Buck. The first night they told us they were out of it and they never did get a supply. Why you have to wonder? We asked the bartender every night (very nice guy) and he just kept saying maybe tomorrow....it never happened.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for such a shining review. I am so pleased that we were able to get your visit right on so many levels during your stay with us. This type of positive guest experience is something we strive for every day.

I am pleased that you enjoyed breakfast with us and would like to highlight that we do offer a variety of breakfast options in the Hotel. The Pacific Restaurant offers a selection of a la carte options. Additionally, we have our Courtyard Cafe on the Concourse level which offers breakfast sandwiches, pastries, oatmeal, egg dishes and parfaits for guests who are on the go or who prefer a less formal dining option.

I apologize for being out of stock of Blue Bock. We make a point of having many local wines and local craft beers available. Unfortunately from time to time we run out of a particular item or it is not available to us. Please make sure to ask us for an alternate as we have a wide range of carefully chosen wines beers and spirits that we are happy to recommend.

We look forward to having you stay with us again and serving you Blue Buck.

Regards,

Spent each evening of our 2 day stay on the balcony watching the water taxis in the harbor, so relaxing after a day of moving about. Excellent complimentary bikes for our family of four and a great flat route starting at the front of the hotel and continuing along the coast. Amazing views. Large rooms and very helpful staff. Excellent location. Great pool as well. Will return.

Do not stay in room 1039. The suite wraps around the back of the elevator so the bedroom is right behind the elevator. You hear the noise from it 24/7. 3 sleepless nights. The hotel said that there was noise in the room, but this is the worst I have experienced in all my travels. They need to sound proof this room, and probably all the other rooms below this one (i.e. 939, 839...). If they off you this room, do not take it !!! Everything else about the hotel was fine.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your valuable feedback. I am sorry that your stay did not meet expectations.

I was quite concerned about your comments and as a team we spent a great deal of time discussing your experience and reviewing the noise levels in the room.
We are aware that there is, at times, a small amount of extra noise in the room as a result of its location. As well, we always make sure to confirm with guests that they are not sensitive to a small potential noise issue.
We have made efforts to reduce the noise and many guests who have stayed in room 1039 have been very positive about their stay and their night’s sleep.

I am shocked and concerned that you were kept up for three days. If you had let us know about the issue we would have been happy to find another room for you and your family.

We will certainly review our options to further reduce any additional noise in this suite.

Thank you for your constructive feedback and observations from your recent visit. Your reflections are greatly appreciated as it allows us to review our services so we can continue to deliver exceptional guest experience. We hope to have the privilege and pleasure of serving you again the next time you are in the city for either business or pleasure.

Regards,
Emory Haines
