Yes, it really is as good as all the reviews say. Their attention to detail is amazing. Everything is there to make your room and the hotel as comfortable, functional and charming. The staff really is helpful and pleasant. The breakfast is excellent. My only qualifier is room size. We had a cottage double, and after two nights I felt a little claustrophobic. If we visit Victoria again, I would try to get a bigger room.

I don't want to gush, but suffice it to say that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. From the staff to the wonderful room, the fantastic breakfast in bed or the cosy library and the tasty afternoon hors d'ouevres. Oh and the bath! The fantastic roll-top bath! It took an age and half the harbour to fill, but it was worth the wait. Only wish our schedule allowed us more than a day here.

As I wrote in the guestbook: please keep it up, you're doing everything right.

This cute little B&B was the perfect splurge for a special occasion! The staff was wonderful, so nice and accommodating. Both breakfast and evening appetizers were delicious, and our room was immaculate, spacious and smartly decorated. Most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept on :) We had a fireplace suite and our friends had the Foxglove room, both were great but reserve the Foxglove if it's available! It has a huge bathroom with a large jacuzzi tub. It is a bit of a walk into the heart of Victoria, but definitely doable with nice weather.

Room Tip: Get the Foxglove!

We spent two nights at this absolutely wonderful hotel. Every member of staff was so helpful and pleasant. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The breakfasts are a real pleasure with the smell fresh baking being a real treat to wake up to. Good location with just a short walk to the waterfront. Would definately recommend as a great place to stay and use as a base when in Victoria.

We were expecting an amazing hotel, instead we woke up to nothing but noise coming from every direction. We stayed in their foxglove room and heard everything from the man taking a pee to walking around in the middle of the night. We called and finally complained in the middle of the night and the lady at the front desk of the hotel she didn't seem to concern about our complaint. Then in the morning we woke up to the sound of a man snoring, so loud and clear we could have sworn it was coming from our own suite. Still yet with the windows closed the noise that travels in that hotel is crazy. What is the point of staying in a nice hotel if you can't sleep in it with all the noise that takes place. Thank goodness we didn't stay there for our honeymoon, what a disappointment. Don't recommend this hotel to anyone unless they enjoy hearing someone urinate in the suite next to them.

Dear Joann M,

I was sorry to hear that you had a disappointing stay with us. We try our absolute best to provide a unique and exceptional accommodation experience to all of our guests.

On rare occasion, circumstances outside of our control, such as an exceptionally loud or inconsiderate neighbor, do occur. When they arise there are a few mitigating options that we have at the time of incident; such as direct contact with the offending neighbor, complimentary ear-plugs offered at the front desk and the potential for room moves on days when we are not sold out. If these options were not all presented to you at the time of incident, please accept my sincere apologies.

The day after your check-out I was made aware of your situation and I personally reached out to you, leaving both a phone and email message. A week has lapsed since this time and it is disheartening that you have chosen to disregard my attempts to offer a personal apology in favor of posting a negative review on this site.

These situations are rare for us as evidenced by the vast majority of reviews found here which comment specifically on how quiet and peaceful our property is for an urban accommodation. I am sorry that this was not the case in your experience.

Best Regards,
Nick Saklas
General Manager

I love this place! It is a totally charming hotel in a great Victoria location. We walked everywhere in town and drove to Butchart Gardens and several wineries. The breakfast and appys here are outstanding. The staff goes WAY out of their way to make you feel welcome and right at home. I can't say enough nice things about Abigail's. Oh, and the beds are divine, too! I would never consider staying anyplace else in Victoria.
