“Perfectly Elegant, Charming and Hospitable”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

My husband and I stayed in one of the Opal rooms for 4 nights this October. We were so pleased with the elegant accomodations, quiet in town location, and incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Our room was top notch, with a working fireplace, extremely comfortable bed ( with step stool as bed is high!), and cozy couch by the fire. The bathroom is enormous, and includes a jet bath. Two half bottles of wine were left for us to use if wanted, at a reasonable price, in the room. All details were attended to, and we had the most comfy soft velour robes I have ever seen!

Delicious Hors d'oeuvres were served daily from 5-7, and cocktails were available for purchase, also at a very reasonable price. (The pinot gris is very nice). You can relax and enjoy the lovely living room, complete with books, games, etc. There is also a lovely, small gift shop. The staff was incredible, as was Chef Matt, who loves to chat with the clients over the sumptous breakfasts that are served every day(complete with weather report!) He even packed us a lunch to go on our last day, as we had to leave before breakfast. The hotel is an easy walk to town, a hidden gem in this lovely city. We would absolutely stay there again!

Room Tip: We loved the Opal room we stayed in, called the Foxglove. It is on the third floor. It was very quie...

We loved our three night stay in early October. The staff is so great and location is a pretty easy walk to downtown, whale watching tours, Beacon Hill park, etc. It's clean, comfy and the breakfasts and happy hour can't be beat. Chef Matt makes the best scones ever!! Stayed in a the Abby Rose room. Very nice but injured my knee prior to arrival and the three floor hike was a lot. Keep in mind if that's an issue for you. Still, a nice room and I'd recommend it if you can walk the stairs. Also you'd have to be ok with a clear view of the john through the fireplace so not great if you still keep some mysteries from your significant other! I would recommend Abigail's to couples who like great service, location and food!

My husband & I were looking for a hotel over the Thanksgiving weekend and found that our "regular" hotels were either full or boasting outrageous prices ( it was the Marathon weekend). I happened upon the listing for Abigail's Hotel which had just opened up a vacancy. The price was reasonable, so why not?

What a lucky choice. The hotel is beautiful -- meticulously appointed rooms with lovely common areas such as a library and porches. Excellent lighting, lit fireplaces, graciously offered tea and coffee available all day and night. Then there was the food. Superbly created appetizers featuring local fare were offered each evening. Honestly, could have skipped dinner on one occasion.... The included breakfast is served in a lovely dining room with a choice of daily menu options (light, sweet and savory), again created with seasonal local ingredients.

All in all, a wonderful experience, and with the combination of the fabulous food, I have to say a good value. I will definitely make this my new "go-to"!

we stayed here for two nights at the beginning of September and what a delight!!! There were 4 of us in the ruby room and there was plenty of room...breakfast was yummy and the staff were courteous and helpful. there was a bit of a mix up with the bill at the end of our stay but it was dealt with quickly and pleasantly!!! Must say the coffee on tap in reception was a welcome extra when I was up at 4.30am in the morning.....and I took a cup through to the library where I was able to connect to wifi easily and research our next stop !!!

The only room available was one without AC (we booked very late) and we were a little concerned. No need -- I guess in September AC is not necessary. The room was very luxurious. The daily breakfast was amazing. The staff was very helpful arranging tours for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would definitely stay there again.

A truly lovely hotel, spotless room, comfy bed and well equipped bathroom. Located down a dead end street so nice and quiet. A good breakfast with endless tea and coffee all day. Only negative would be no lifts so have to drag suitcases upstairs, and our room overlooked the car park..ugh, but nevertheless a charming old fashioned building.
Ate at the Flying Otter on the waterfront..excellent.

Conveniently located a short walk from downtown this small hotel is welcoming and comfortable. Arrived in time for the lavish 5PM hors d'oeuvres which we enjoyed outside in the gardens. The desk staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable proffering excellent advice regarding the area's attractions. Our room was large and comfortable with a beautiful stylish claw foot well appointed bath tub with rain forest shower head. Breakfast brought a choice of 3 entrees, plus an additional meat choice, fresh fruit, and a choice of baked goods. Eat inside or outside in the garden. Ample off street parking. I'd stay there again with eager anticipation.
