From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. From the staff at reception, to the breakfast room, to the incredible breakfast prepared by our personal chef, our stay at Abigail's Hotel was incredible. We were within walking distance to all of the Victoria sites, and were personally welcomed home on our return each evening. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay top rate. Thanks to everyone at Abigail's for making our visit to Victoria a wonderful experience.

Having never been to Victoria we wanted a hotel near enough to downtown to walk to everything, but far enough away not to have city noise. That was accomplished easily at Abigail's Hotel. We were three or four blocks away from the Empress Hotel and the Royal Canadian Museum of Natural History. Another block or two would get you to the Inner Harbor.
The hotel is really a big bed & breakfast. There are 21 rooms, some in a newer adjoining 3 story building where we were located. As the story goes an accountant in Vancouver bought the property as an investment. She found the property taking up increasing amounts of her time so she recruited her son, also an accountant, to become the general manager of the property.
The son was present every morning during breakfast. He would meet and great each guest as they arrived. That also allowed him to act as quasi concierge for people venturing afield into unknown territories. It was a wonderful touch.
Breakfast was unique. When you arrive you are presented with a fruit bowl at which time you can look at the "menu." Each morning there were three choices; granola, a starch and a protein. The starch was likely to be pancakes, French toast or waffles. The protein was likely to be a frittata, a scramble or an omelet. The starch and the protein were made the moment you ordered them by a chef employed by the hotel. And in fact if the owner didn't have the answer to a guest's question it was likely the chef, a local, did. Some of our best moments at the hotel was listening to the owner and the chef try to decide the best way to get to............wherever. Pretty funny.
Where the hotel failed, in my estimation, was the location. Yes, there is a lovely garden on the street side facing the cul-de-sac where the hotel is located. But looking out my window what I saw was either parking lot or apartments. I would say most of the rooms don't have a very picturesque view.
To add to my misery, there was no balcony. I didn't realize how much I miss balconies until I got here and would have loved to sit on one (even overlooking the parking lot) to take in the fresh air. Our room was beautiful with four poster bed, a couch and fireplace. The bathroom was immaculate with upgraded sink, faucets, etc. But at the end of the day I felt constrained and closed in. I would have liked a view and a balcony.
So there you have it, a perfect place for all the reasons we picked it. But if we were to return to Victoria I would look for one of the hotels with a view of the Inner Harbor and a balcony so I can enjoy the clean air.

The locaation was good, but I expected more after reading others reviews. Maybe it was our room - it was on the first floor right behind the check-in desk. They had done a decent job at keeping the noise out, but the room had only 1 small window high on the wall (the room was partly below grade) which made it stuffy and would not meet fire code in the US. The breakfast was served elegantly - but the food was average at best. Strawberry crepes seemed to be filled with nothing more than sliced strawberrys and whipped creme - nothing creative. My husband was annoyed by room literature stressing the expectation of tips for the staff. I give the staff credit though for pointing us toward the best meal of our vacation - Bonne Rouge. Maybe if the price was lower I wouldn't be so hard on the place.

Abigail's went above and beyond...even before we walked in the door. They helped me arrange things to do before we even arrived. Upon arrival, we were escorted upstairs to the most charming room...to find a hand written note and a bag of cookies welcoming us. This simple gesture encapsulates the spirit and hospitality of Abigail's; no detail is too small, nor is it overlooked. From the scrumptious noshes in the afternoon to the deliciously amazing breakfast in the morning, Abigail's is a true gem. We HIGHLY recommend it!

This was our first stay at Abigails but it will definately not be our last. From the moment we arrived via the Clipper till the time we left two days later we were so well accommodated. We arrived too early to get into our room but they kindly offered to keep our luggage until our return for check in. We were able to get back to the city w/o carrying our luggage all over. A nice afternoon snack was provided to the guests at 5 with coffee and tea always available. But I think the best part was waking up from a wonderful nights sleep to the delicious smell of scones baking right below our room. What a way to wake up! The breakfast is what made it completely over the top. With multiple choices we were extremely pleased with our choice of baked egg wrapped in a slice of crispy salmon, topped with delicate mushrooms. Sooooo good. We felt like we were on a romantice honeymoon or anniversary even tho it was just a quick get away for us. The staff are top notch, gave us wonderful reccomendations and the chef even shared his recipe with us. We have wonderful memories of our 2 day get away and Abigails was a big part of it all. Thanks Very Much to them for a lovely stay.

This bed and breakfast was an amazing place to stay while we were on our honeymoon! The staff was very welcoming and helpful. They even offered to help make reservations for any tours we were taking.
The location was good, but a little ways from the bay, which was nice also to be out of the way where it was nice and quiet. The walk down to where all the shopping and tourist activities was not bad at all though!
The rooms were beautiful, romantic, and cozy! With a sitting area and fireplace, it felt very homey and inviting! The rooms are a good size with a very large bathroom that has a jacuzzi tub in it. The beds were beyond comfortable and we slept better there than we do even at home!
The breakfast menu was AMAZING! The chef, Matt, works in an open kitchen and the food is delicious! The staff is incredible and friendly, and Matt will talk to you over the counter and offer suggestions or advice on what to do in Victoria.
We loved this hotel and will definitely visit again if we are in the area!

We loved Abigail's Inn. The location was great, quiet yet just a short distance to the heart of Victoria. The breakfast was delicious. The service impeccable, our room was spacious and the service was A plus. I highly recommend this inn. You will be treated like family.
