“A Breathtaking Experience”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

I went on my birthday and was hoping to see Orcas, which I missed on two trips to the San Juan Islands. The naturalist on board was wonderful. Not only did we see a pod of orcas that day (5 whales), we also saw a mother and son humpback whale. The younger whale breached several times. It was amazing!. Tips: bring binoculars because the boat isn't allowed to get too close to the whales. Unless you have a great camera with a zoom, leave the pictures to the professional on the boat and don't miss the experience of viewing these magnificent creatures!

“A beautiful day at sea”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

The crew is very knowledgeable about marine life and keep you entertained with very educational information as you are watching for the whales. Don't forget your cameras like we did!

You can ride on the upper level outside, or in the front of the catamaran outside, or inside. Be aware: It can be a very warm day on land, but out there on the ocean in the spring when we went, it was cold enough for a winter jacket and a hat! Be prepared for that.

They even give you a guided tour of the James Bay Harbor when you come and go. We saw Baker Mountain & Mt. Raineir which is not usually visible, so we felt very blessed and were so happy about that, as Mt. Rainier was not visible when we got to Seattle due to the rain and clouds. We also passed San Juan Island.

We got a groupon coupon for 1/2 off of each of our tickets. I recommend this company or any of the others that take you out whale watching. It is a wonderful experience.

Have been on their tour year after year after year. Great boat and very knowledgable crew always eager to answer our 100 questions. Got to see MANY whales of different species and the coolest of all Orcas. Will be back in the late summer to hopefully repeat great Orca trip.

“Humpbacks, Eagles and Seals, Oh My!”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

The Five Star Whale watching experience was wonderful! It was so exciting to see about 13 humpbacks, 'blowing', and showing their flukes as they dove. The scenery was spectacular, and I especially liked seeing the lighthouse at Race Rocks (so perfect, it looks like a movie set). The eagle we saw caused quite a stir when it flew away, causing all the birds in the area to take to the air and start circling. The sound of all the seals (100 or so?) around Race Rocks, barking and yelping, was very cool. The naturalists on board were knowledgeable and great at finding wildlife for us to see. I highly recommend this trip.
