My sister and I went on a three hour whale watching cruise. We were aware that it was the very beginning of whale watching season and that there were no guarantees of seeing whales. Because of this we were offered a discount on each ticket and told about the type of wildlife that we were likely to see. There were two wildlife experts on board plus a photographer and the captain. Because the catamaran boat had both indoor and outdoor viewing areas, the experts could easily point out wildlife and the different land masses (Mt. Baker, Race Rock Lighthouse, etc.). Free coffee and hot chocolate were available. This boat also had a small bathroom and the crew offered warm waterproof jackets if you wanted to stand on deck while the boat skimmed across the ocean. We went to a number of different locations during our three hours. An eagle, numerous different types of birds, four different types of seals, and a huge family of porpoises (probably over 100) were the wildlife we ending up seeing. Pictures taken by the photographer and the crew of our actual trip are available on the Five Star Whale Watching blog. This is great because their pictures are better than mine and a can show everyone the actual animals that I saw. The boat ride was very smooth and we traveled a lot faster than I anticipated. I definitely would recommend this three hour cruise to everyone (children, seniors, and everyone between).
