We first heard about his hotel when we obtained a Groupon to stay there and therefore it was a great deal. It was our first visit to Victoria, but we live close enough for return travel there and would stay at the Rialto again, even without a Groupon. The hotel is conveniently located downtown, within walking distance to shops, restaurants, the Inner Harbor, and museums. The hotel itself was a complete remodel a few years ago and they did an excellent job. Our room was very clean and quiet. Our Groupon included the "romance package", so in addition to the room, we received lovely flowers in a vase, a $50 credit to the Tapas restaurant in the hotel(very good food and atmosphere), and wine and cheese platter on our first night. The staff was most helpful with suggestions. When we asked how get to Butchart Gardens ( a must to see if you go), the desk help thoroughly explained different ioptions for getting there. We enjoyed our stay at the Rialto and recommend it highly!

Boutique hotel with very pleasant but small "European style" rooms. Well located - near the harbor and Chinatown. Very good onsite restaurant. Wireless internet and flat screen TV. We had the Romance 2 night package which included a bottle of wine and a welcome plate of cheeses and fruits.

My wife and I and a close friend decided to spend a couple of days in VIctoria, and we looked at reviews and chose Hotel Rialto. We booked a three room suite with a Queen bed and two double beds. This is an older building, recently renovated. The room was very clean and the beds were excellent. The bathroom was fairly large, although it could use some additional shelves and towel bars. The heating/air conditioning unit (separate units in each of the rooms) is a bit odd - with what looks like an indoor A/C unit plugged into a vent with a flexible exhaust tube; seemed to do a good job, although somewhat noisy. The room also had a small fridge in it. The hotel has its own self-park parking lot - CAN$15 per night - about a hundred yards from the hotel. Our room was only CAN$175 per night, and we were just two or three blocks from the harbor area attractions and Chinatown. We thought the hotel was very nice, and very comfortable, and a great value at what we paid. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. If you are a hotel guest, and have coffee in the morning down in the Cafe Veneto, they throw in a free dessert - delicious muffins, carrot cake and other goodies. If we return to Victoria in the future, we would have no hesitation to stay at the Rialto again.

The hotel is very close to all the attractions. We are told to park our car two blocks away from the hotel for $15. It's a fenced parking lot so it's quite safe. We book one room with two double beds. The room is very spacious. The bathroom is very small and it seems like they try to renovate the place but maintain all the old fixtures such as the door knob, light fixtures, vents etc. There is no security in this hotel. I can come in and out without the reception notices. I like the fact that we can walk everywhere without using our car.

I had spotted this little hotel when we were over last winter and wanted to check it out so stayed there this weekend. It is the old Douglas Hotel, completely transformed with all new amenities and a great little restaurant/bar. Everything was quality. The rooms are on the small side, but very well appointed. The bed was super comfortable, and all the furnishings were above average quality and very modern. Plus it is not the usual run of the mill hotel/motel. The restaurant bar was very trendy featuring tapas and would be appealing to the young crowd. By day it is transformed into a coffee shop where they serve french press coffee and you get free pastries in the morning.
About the parking - no there is no on-site parking, but you can park your car outside the hotel after 6 free and put money in the meter for the next morning, so we only had to pay $3 for parking until 10:30 the next day. There are parking garages nearby if you need longer parking.
Staff was very friendly (they gave us the tip about parking) and helpful. They pretty much provide a concierge service usually found in more expensive hotels.
It is right downtown (across from City Hall) so very convenient for theatres, restaurants, etc. The "tourist" areas like Bastian Square are a few blocks away, but a pleasant walk.

Room Tip: We got an inside room (away from the traffic) and although no view it was very quiet

A few friends and I traveled to Victoria for my birthday and stayed at Hotel Rialto for a couple of nights. Everything was fantastic! We were originally going to stay in one of the multi room suites but decided to switch into a deluxe double queen so we were all in the same room together. It worked perfectly! It was big enough for four girls to get ready at once, and was chic and clean.
I cannot say enough about the staff! Special thanks to Michael for being incredibly helpful, and putting up with our many many questions and requests. Every single staff member was delightful. We can't wait to be back next year!

Very nice and accommodating at the hotel.
I really liked the go green program they had at the hotel. It is a wonderful program to help the environment, as well as give you a $10.00 a day voucher for the restaurant down stairs, which had wonderful food. We ate there everyday and everyday was really good food.
The Barista's made a perfect coffee drink in the morning. And remembered what we ordered the day before. Hotel was in a convenient location. Very polite staff at this hotel.
Our room was on the small side. Bathroom we had was huge!! It was a clean place to stay. And the price was right.
If I were to come back to Victoria, I would stay here again.
