“Beautiful”

Beautiful modern hotel in a superb location. I could relax in a leather armchair (with footstool) watching the boats pass by and the sea-planes land in the harbour. WiFi free, comfortable large bed, friendly helpful staff, small balcony. A few drawbacks - the aircon is noisy, and the housekeeping lax (under the bed had not been cleaned for a while). A short walk to the town centre, but this was along the harbour edge and very pleasant. We loved the view from the restaurant and the food (and the barman was good 'craic'). The walk to Fisherman's Wharf along the water's edge was enjoyable, as was feeding the seals from the floating wharf.

We knew from previous trips to Victoria, BC on the Victoria Clipper from Seattle, that we would someday stay at the Inn at Laurel Point. It is a lovely, modern structure that sits at the mouth of the Inner Harbour. We knew it would have excellent views of the water and the city, and we were not disappointed. The rooms in the area we stayed in (not the most expensive upper deck rooms) are decorated in a very simple, clean, Asian style. Each room has a balcony with a view of the water. The bed was comfortable, the towels were luxurious. The only real disappointment was that there were no chairs on the balcony which looked out onto Laurel Point park and the water.

The real surprise was the restaurant. Usually restaurants in hotels in touristy cities tend to be "all show and no go". High prices, mediocre food. But after a long walk around the harbor sights (and Tea at the Empress which left us very full, until very late) we were back at the hotel, trying to decide where to go for dinner that would require the fewest steps. It suddenly started raining and well, the fewest steps were down to the hotel restaurant - Aura. We were probably fortunate that it was the "off season" and a bit late for most people to wander in to dinner (about 8pm), but we were able to get a window seat with a view right away. We weren't in the mood for a big dinner (see "Tea the Empress" above) but a nice glass of wine and something simple seemed in order. The food was excellent and the wine selection by the glass was most agreeable. And even more surprising? The cost was totally in line with any number of restaurants we had seen "downtown". In fact, it was so good we decided to have breakfast at Aura in the morning, rather than heading back to Murchies (excellent tea, coffee and pastry shop on Government Street). We were glad we did - the chef definitely rocks eggs in all forms!

The topping on the cake was that the hotel was only a 5 minute walk to the Victoria Clipper dock - which was a good thing on a happily full tummy!

Very accommodating staff, walk to downtown area, Interesting architecture, could open the door to the balcony and just enjoy the view of the harbor. Don't bother getting a taxi from the ferry, just walk up the path to the hotel. Only downside was the faucet handles, which were round and we couldn't turn them without a cloth.

No complaints at all! Have stayed there a few times now, on business and pleasure. Actually, was so impressed with my business stays that I was inspired to go back for a weekend get away!
Stayed in the 'older' section each time and it was amazing, the rooms are very large and bright and have huge patio doors with a cute little patio, small but just right for standing out on to enjoy the view of the seawall and watch the seaplanes. Even the basic rooms are very plush for the price and I really enjoy the gift shop in the lobby, NICE stuff.

You can't beat the location at Laurel Point. It is within walking distance to all major attractions in downtown Victoria, and right on the seawall for a nice walk. The rooms are very clean and I was upgraded to a King suite on the top floor. The beds are comfortable enough but the bedspread doesn't provide much warmth. Furnishings are bland and typical hotel-style. Aveda bathroom products are a nice touch. Staff are nice and accommodating to requests. Good heating/cooling system in rooms. Balcony had amazing water views but was quite grungy, not very welcoming to step out onto. Bird poop on the outside windows somewhat distracted from the views. Room service provided good food at reasonable price, but automatically added a 15% tip to the bill and then the receipt was handed to me to fill in the total, as if I was expected to add another tip.

I stay at least once a year at Laurel Point for business. The rooms are exceptionally nice - quite large, lots of daylight, with modern furniture, spacious bathrooms and comfortable beds. Many have a harbour view and a small balcony. Fairly convenient to the heliport and a 15 minute walk to downtown Victoria along the harbour path. Hotel has an excellent restaurant, and there are plenty of other places nearby. Underground parking. My only complaint is the size of the fitness centre - it is very small and cramped. If you like to go running that isn't a problem, because there are great routes from the hotel. But if you like to start or end your working day with weights and cardio machines, you will be disappointed.

This hotel was gorgeous and perfectly located. We literally stood on the balcony outside our room and waved to our friends who were on the ferry departing out of the harbor! A very upscale hotel for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend it!
