“Great Location, average hotel”
Reviewed 10 October 2011

We recently spent two nights at the Inn At Laurel Point. For the price we paid, the value was good. The harbour view from the room was excellent, the king sized bed was good and the shower was hot, strong and very nice. The inner harbour walk is very charming and right next to the hotel and close to Fisherman's Wharf. The in-room coffee may be lousy but one very nice touch is the dressing robe provided for guest use. It was the most comfortable I have ever had in a hotel. Too bad there was only one.

The rooms seem lightly built, allowing the sound of the TV and alarm clock in the adjacent room to be easily heard. The carpeting/decor in the hallways is quite worn and dated. Parking is expensive considering that the garage is not attached to the hotel. There are minimal services near the hotel so be prepared to drive or walk to get things you need.

The pool and fitness room are quite plain. Water temp in the pool was very cool in my view.

There are too many negatives to rate this hotel at 4 or higher, but we would stay here again.

Having read the last few reviews I am amazed. We had a laurel wing room on floor 5 and yes the balcony is small but the views of the Inner Harbour are to die for (see pics). Beds were huge, comfy and claen. Bathroom large and had all free ameneties as required. Safe TV hot drink machines included.

We walked into town each of our 3 night stay and took about 15 minutes but walking along the harbour side was fantastic - street musicians and traders and the atmosphere was excellent.

My experience of the receptionists could not be faulted - the pre prepared restaurant guide with their own favourites was a great bonus and our meals in Victoria were all first class. Also the walk guide was very good and we went on 4 0f the 7 listed. Our whale trip was booked by the same staff with minimum fuss and maximum efficiency.

Restaurant was expensive and we onlu used it for breakfast on our last night. However the bar in the restauarant was cosy, reasonable and the staff very friendly and helpful about Victoria and what it had to offer.

The planes were no issue with the patio doors closed and we watched then comin and going most mornings having a tea in bed !!

Overall a very pleasant stay on our first experience of Victoria.

This would be a rather unremarkable hotel if not for the views from the rooms. We stay here every time we go to Victoria because it is a good value, the rooms are decent and walking distance to restaurants. It is an average, decent hotel with excellent views.

Having prepaid for our Laurel Wing Harbor View room 4 months in advance, we were expecting just that. If we stepped out onto our 3 foot by 4 foot balcony and leaned to the left or right, we had a decent fiew of the middle and outer harbor. From inside the room we had a great view of about nine trees. I guess we should have asked for the Erickson Wing.
The location was right on the water with good access, but a bit of a walk to downtown area.
The Lobby and registration area was quite small and congested. We received a lot of bad information from the desk as to transportation and restaurants. There was no concierge that I could see. We obtained better information from the desk at Harbour Towers while waiting for a bus.
The food was good but quite expensive in the Aura, with very limited choices. It also has a good view of the trees.
The "business center" was the only hotel of the four we used on our 12 day trip to the Northwest, that charged for the use of their computer station. $3.00 plus $.49 per minute.
I think you get the message. We would not recommed this hotel when there are many choices in Victoria with better views and amenities at two thirds the cost.

Room Tip: If you choose to stay here, try the Erickson Wing, or Harbour Towers Hotel

My wife and I stayed here, Aug 2011. What a delightful surprise. The northwest facing rooms offer a beautiful view of the outer harbour from overly generous balconies. The rooms are huge with a zen-like design. The bathrooms are to die for. And, all this high-end at a very reasonable cost. If you decide on this property, make sure you stay in the Erickson Wing.

We stayed here for 3 nights towards the end of our honeymoon. The hotel has a great location and the view from the room was very scenic altho a tad noisy if having a nap in the afternoon with the sea planes landing and taking off - however fine if you closed the patio door. The room was clean and adequate with a very comfortable bed.
We only ate their once - that was for breakfast. The breakfast was ok, but we had to wait for an eternity and the waiter wasn't that friendly or helpful. On the full cooked breakfast there was a choice of sausage or bacon - now in all the other places we stayed if asked they would provide smaller portions of both but noooooo not there.
We loved Victoria and would defo go there again and from a location and great views point of view would more than likely stay at this hotel again.

I chose this hotel mainly for the walking path (we had our dog) and view. We chose the Ericson wing for the balcony and view. The room was large and well designed, I loved the bathroom! We only ate breakfast at the hotel- both mornings, very good both days. We loved our waiter.Had some blustery weather, umbrellas were a nice touch. Short walk to the museum and both wharfs. Loved it!
