“Treated like family”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

Not that people weren't already helpful the last time we stayed at laurel Point a year and a half ago, but I think I noticed quite an escalation of friendly helpfulness this last weekend, from Nicky at the desk, suggesting & making reservations at a downtown restaurant for us, to a server in their Aura restaurant giving us some requested champagne glasses and offering to deliver anything else we may need to our harbourview room.
All rooms and suites we have stayed in sporadically over the years in both wings have been quiet, clean, and comfortable if not elegant.
The next morning upon request, the busy restaurant staff moved us to a better table when it became available for breakfast without fuss or rolling eyes, for a better introduction to its finer viewpoints. They may need a larger restaurant.
The desk allowed us to remain parked at the hotel for a couple hours after checkout so we could attend the Royal Museum Viking exhibit and afternoon tea at the Empress which is a short waterfront walk by the Legislature building.
Valet was also friendly & efficient and all the staff we came in contact with appeared selfmotivated which I find is unusual these days.
I can be a cranky old man sometimes but we honestly sorta felt like family and that we received great value. This hotel is a lovely quiet gem close to everything. Chris

Room Tip: I like the busy harbour or waterview which describes most rooms in both wings. Its a big property an...

We have stayed at the Inn many times and love it there. Both wings are great and each have something different to offer in terms of views and the way the rooms are appointed. We love it there and WILL go back.
Room service, in fact the restaurant in total, is another matter. We actually started placing bets with each other as to what would be wrong or missing in our orders.
On the day of our arrival we went down to the cafe for a drink and lunch. It was almost empty which was why waiting for 20+ minutes for someone to take our order seemed...well, you know. (Several people left while we waited there). We were pretty happy to be there and it was a beautiful day so we just sat and enjoyed the view.
We finally placed our orders for cocktails and for lunch. We said we would have wine or beer with our food. Thirty five minutes later our drinks came and the food one minute later. I learned that a steak sandwich isn't bad with a lemon drop (actually I didn't get a lemon drop. I ordered one but got something different that was a gin drink from their menu.
Usually the food is super and mine was. My husband's was a weird and scarey attempt at some sort of Calimari Asian/Canadian fusion. I use the word scarey judiciously. When he gave the waitress feed back she told us she usually tries to steer folks away from that dish!?!?
Next day: room service. Great meal...no flat ware. Next day: great wine...no glasses. Next night room service...super creme brulee and soft toffee pudding...no spoons. French fries, forgot the ketchup, etc. etc. etc.
Nothing horrible just waiting while our food got cold while room service found the ONE server to come back to the room with whatever it was. Okay it was funny too. I started hoarding flatware and little half full ketchup bottles for culinary emergencies.
We still had a wonderful time and the staff there is extremely friendly and kind. Actually I mentioned the room service issue when we checked out and the desk clerk said: "Well I guess the good thing is...everyone was nice. Right?"
So true.
We still think this hotel is very good for lots of reasons but thought it worthwhile to suggest bringing a set of plastic flatware, napkins, glasses, ketchup etc. But go. It's a great spot.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room with a bay or city view and on the 3rd floor or above. We usually stay...

This is a lovely hotel on the Victoria waterfront.
You can walk out of the lobby onto the sea wall and head downtown. Although the sea wall is not continuous to the harbour, it is very pleasant.
The hotel has rooms that have large windows fronting on the bay - try to get one of these for your stay. If you can't never mind, they say that all rooms have a water view - some of a lagoon.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean front room.

We have stayed here many times. Our most recent visit was for one night only. The room was huge, clean and bright. Walk out balcony with a gorgeous view of the harbor. Previous visits were for medical reasons. We stayed in the Erickson Wing...this is the place to be when you are facing a serious illness. Staff are wonderful, the views can cheer anyone up. Close to everything. Beautiful walkways around the hotel and the harbor. Highly recommend The Inn at Laurel Point.

Room Tip: Corner rooms in the Laurel Wing are big and bright with a walkout balcony. For longer stays The Eri...

Brilliant hotel with amazing views over the harbour! The rooms are spacious and décor is clean and modern. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is about 5-10minutes walk into the centre of Victoria or a couple of dollars in a taxi.

Room Tip: Ask for a view over the harbour

Stayed at this hotel for two nights our room 411 had great views over the inner harbour which meant you could see all the activity including the seaplanes coming and going.
The hotel is in a great location on the point yet only a five minute walk to the main harbour area.
On arrival we were met by very friendly staff and quickly given our room on the fourth floor.
The room was large, clean and very comfortable with the added advantage of a great view.
The hotel swimming pool is good with good changing facilities something lacking in a few of the hotels we had stayed in.

A minus point was breakfast, we had a continental breakfast which in all the other five hotels we stayed in was a buffet arrangement and cheaper. In this hotel it was served like an aircraft meal on a small oblong plate, little choice. Yet this was the most expensive for less. Not impressed.

The hotel is well located for all the attractions, in three days we fitted in the Butchart gardens, whale watching, and a seaplane flight. Loved the atmosphere of Victoria.

Would recommend a visit to anyone in this area of Canada.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the upper floors facing the inner harbour entrance i.e.411
