“Great family hotel”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We love that this hotel has the 1 bedroom suite. We were able to put the children to sleep at a reasonable time and still enjoy our evenings. The decor is perhaps dated, but the rooms are kept clean. It's also nice to have a full kitchen even if we only used it for breakfasts. The pool and hot tub areas were great at the end of the day or if the weather should be a little rainy.

The wifi was good for basic use, but not good enough to stream netflicks.

The hotel is in a great location. Walking distance to the harbour and fisherman's warf. A great place to make your home base.

Great position. Wonderful staff. All the facilities you could possibly want. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. We were upgraded to a one bed apartment, which was very roomy, and a bonus we were not expecting. There was no air conditioning, but the desk fans were sufficient for a comfortable night.

We just concluded our third stay at the Royal Scot Inn and we went back because we love this place. Although it seems a bit on the modest side, the rooms are very well furnished and comfortable. Parking is a breeze, and it's proximity to the Inner Harbor cannot be beat. We're ready to go a fourth time whenever we get the chance!

Room Tip: The on-site restaurant can be a bit slow so be careful about eating there if you are in a hurry.

We'll located near the inner harbour so great locale for walking around the main attractions there and an easy stroll to downtown. The room is fine albeit a bit dated and no air conditioning. Luckily it does not get too hot in Victoria. The room was pretty clean although I walked on a small peanut in front of the TV (likely the vacuum missed it but my toes did not). The room had a small balcony which looked across the street to a parking lot. The newspaper in the morning is nice. There are vending machines, ice machine, gift shop, and pool. The elevator is small, old and slow but with only 4 floors it is not a big deal. The free wifi is good although the connection wasn't always good. Front desk staff were friendly & prompt. The big surprize was the $15 per day charge for parking which we were not informed of at check-in. We were given a white paper pass to put on our car dash for parking in the large outdoor lot by the hotel. No mention was made of the daily charge and it is not stated on the pass. It was only after check-out looking at bill did we realize we had the daily charge for 3 days parkings for our 2 night stay (actually one does not receive a full day as on check-in day it starts at 3pm and on check-out day parking is only valid till 1pm). If we had known the parking charge we could have parked across the street for half the price ($7 per day)! This left us with a bad impression of the establishment which otherwise would have been a fine stay at a pretty good basic hotel that we had considered previously a good choice.

It is like returning home whenever I come back to the Royal Scott in Victoria. The staff are all so warm and friendly, the rooms and suites are always spotless, with every comfort of home. The pool and fitness room is also kept very clean and everything working well. There is the games room, with lots of board games and puzzles, pool table, shuffleboard table, computer/work station, complete laundry room, gift store, evening bagpipe performance, courtesy shuttle, and of course, the very good, and affordable Jonathons restaurant, which has a very nice selection of varied dishes day and night. The beds are very comfy, and I hear from family members that the pull out beds are very nice also. Wi-fi in the room gave us some grief briefly, but was very pro ply dealt with. Staff were kind enough to give both families in our group upgrades to luxury suites, which gave us extra room and privacy. The location, just a half bock from the parliament building and a block from the inner harbour and U.S. ferries is the best. All the touristy stuff is at your door. I would like to keep this place a secret, but that would be unfair. Since there is no A/C in the rooms, and it was quite hot when we were there, it was nice to have the fans and the large patio doors to our balcony open for the cool breezes.

Room Tip: some rooms/suites have balconies, that would be my choice, mostly for the cool breezes. There are n...

This is a top hotel for customer service. Nothing is trouble and they are willing to go out of their way to help. The rooms are large and with all the mod cons. The hotel is with in a close walking distance to harbour and all the main attractions, shopping and restaurants.

Room Tip: All areas of the hotel are good. This is not a high rise hotel.

I recently stayed at the Royal Scot for the 1st time. Friends had recommended it. Their recommendation was spot on! Excellent location - Extremely comfortable one-bedroom suite - Clean - Extraordinarily pleasant and accommodating staff, A lovely hotel in a lovely city. I will definitely be staying there on my next visit to Victoria.
