Once again Trip Advisor reviewers were on the mark - love this website and love people that post! We spent 1 night with hubby/ myself and 2 girls ages 12 and 10 about 2 days ago and the location was great, the room had AMPLE space and all that you would expect for a 4 star hotel. Ample bed linens/pillows, nice size Queen beds and then lots of room in the room itself. Plus, we arrived at 11 a.m during June 06 and our room was READY!!!! Big plus! Thank you staff!

Only downfall during our stay was no air and we had a corner room so we really lacked ventilation but they did have a ceiling fan as well as fan for window!!! Shuttle was nice from Ferry to hotel and back! From what we heard from other travelers on the "Clipper" we had a nice and quiet hotel. Most had no air as well, and were on a face street with car traffic/noise - this hotel is NOT. We had dinner at the Blue Crab nearby and had an excellent water view as well as fine cusine. Moderate priced restaurant with excellent cusine and within a few blocks of Royal Scot. Recommend that as well if you can spend about $200 a family w/ a bottle of wine. Main courses - $21 - $41.

We stayed here for two nights in early June following recommendations from this website, most of which were highly accurate.

The Royal Scot is not luxurious, but it did provide a home away from home. We stayed in a one bedroom studio which was far larger than I expected, with a full kitchen and large living room area. Looking at pictures other reviewers have left on this website, I think we might have had one of the rooms which are still waiting to be renovated since some of the chairs and couches looked as though it was time for them to be replaced, but as long as you ask for one of the newly renovated rooms, I think you'll be really pleased with this place.

As far as other facilities are concerned, we enjoyed all of the facilities there, including the nice swimming pool, large spa tub, billiards room, games room / TV room, the restaurant, gift shop, computer access and more. If you want to save money while you're in Victoria, I would definitely recommend this place. The gift shop also sells mini portions of food as well as regular size food, so if you're there on a short visit you can just buy mini portions of peanut butter / butter / jam / jelly etc.

The location is also great - just a block away from the inner harbour on a very pleasant street. You don't need a car while you're here either - you can reach most places by foot, or use the free hotel minibus for pick-ups / drop-offs further afield.

Staff were really friendly and I liked the fact that they give you bottled water and apples when you leave - feels like they're looking after family!

(Actually more like a 4.5 stars) We spent 3 nights at the Royal Scot on the recommendation of family that visits Victoria often. The hotel is ideally located only a block from all of the action of the inner harbour and parliament buildings. It is a small, indepent hotel that is run with more efficiency and courtesy than most large chain hotels. I think the Royal Scot caters to more of an older crowd so you probably won't have to deal with noisy kids running around although it would still be a great place for families.

The rooms are extremely clean and large. This is a renovated apartment building so you get a bedroom (or 2), kitchen, living room and bathroom. The staff has thought of everything from fresh apples at the front desk to coffee in the lobby. Even in the room, all you have to do is open a closet or drawer to find plenty of extra towels, pillows and blankets.

The hotel restaurant is nice but a little pricey. You can do better outside of the hotel but the food, if you choose to eat in, is very good. The indoor pool is small and echo-y but has a nice size hot tub. There is a gift shop with items you may want to purchase for your room and these are at reasonable prices. No need to go to a supermarket for the occasional snack or beverage items.

One last thing...in all of my years of travelling, I have never come across most consistently friendly and helpful staff than those who work at the Royal Scot. They are an exceptional group and I would definately stay here on any future trips to Victoria.

Very positive experience. Large room, clean, wonderful beds and linens, service oriented with a friendly staff. Every thing about this place says quality and "we care." This isn't a fancy or luxury accomodation, but it does live up to its terrific ratings.

We enjoyed our 4 night stay at this homey atmosphere hotel. The one bedroom suite felt like home but yet we were in a hotel on vacation. The price was right as we got in on the hot deal with free upgrade and we requested a room with a balcony and we did indeed receive a lovely one bedroom suite with a balcony. (thanks, Jared.) We loved the balcony and had our complimentary cup of tea and cookies out there. Our room was on the 4th floor and met all our expectations. The whole suite was spotless and comfortable. Amazed at all the closet space and to find two comfy bathrobes in the closet was great. We enjoyed the complimentary apples and bottled water for our bon vogage. Our suite had a real kitchen with a full stove, full fridge, microwave, dishes, .....etc. The front desk staff were helpful, courteous and very accomodating. (Thanks Sarah, Mathew, Jared ) The courtesy shuttle service was an asset especially for us as we did not have a car or rental.( they picked us up from the PCL bus Station, Grocery store, took us to the Via Station, etc.). Friendly chaps and safe drivers. I agree with what one of the trip advisors said "the reviews are true about this hotel, this is a great place to stay and the location is wonderfull". We "foot" it to all the favorite restaurants, shops, etc. The bus service. tiny harbor ferries were an easy access from the hotel as well for transportation to all the attractions of Victoria. We never did have a chance to utilize the Billard, exercise, and games room nor the sauna, pool, hot tub. But I bet this would be great for the long stays or enjoyed on our next visit. Heard great things about the restaurant especially about the Mother's Day Brunch. Yes, we will definitely hang our hat here for our next visit to Victoria. Making plans already and want to get in on the off season specials.
