Union Club is in midst of downtown Victoria. Easy to walk many places. Front desk staff were pleasant and helpful, accommodated our early hours special request one morning. In particular the Club's office staff were gracious when I had to use the business office for several hours due to a laptop failure. Room was good sized for two of us and the high King bed was comfy. Breakfast was superb.
The common rooms downstairs make you feel as if you are in London. Plenty of comfy chairs and reading materials. Would stay here again. We were here in sunny cool weather, and the open windows kept temps lovely.

Room Tip: Tips: wifi does not reach all rooms well, but if you head down to reading room there are comfy seats...

The Union Club in Victoria is an old Gentlemens Club, and is still used as one. Public rooms were from a different era when sumptious comfort and huge leather armchairs were the norm - very good! Room rates were reasonable but it's affiliated to several clubs throughout the world and you can get a discount if you belong to one of them. The Victory Services Club in London is one of them. Food and service were very good and the staff, as is usual for Canada, very pleasant and helpful. Bedrooms were comfortable but were obviously old, not that they weren't clean and well presented. The location, almost next to the harbour, was superb.

We enjoyed our stay at The Union Club in June 2013. The room was a bit small with no view to speak of - but it was comfy & we slept well.
The staff were formal, but friendly; breakfast was good & we made good use of the Reading Room. Plus, it's a great location.
Only downsides? - parking is available in a parking building which is a slight hassle; the steps leading up to the entrance are slightly awkward with suitcases.

Never, ever again will I waste my money here. I cannot fathom what all the hype is about. The staff are stuffy, pretentious and make you feel small and unworthy of their "superior" Inn.
Upon arriving we were greeted with "can I help you??" when what she really meant was "what do you want? Are you lost?"
After finding out we were actually paying guests staying in their most expensive room, the tone changed slightly, but still far from what a cave man would ever consider polite, warm, hospitable and inviting.
Non members are forbidden to use the adjacent parking lot, which was made very clear to us as we were scolded like children for leaving our car there (please note, the lot was empty when we go there and throughout the weekend, however exceptions at this place have devastating consequences that can rival the apocalypse).
The room was ok, but not worth what we ended up paying, and definitely not worth the status of any hotels "high end luxury suite", unless you are a Holiday Inn. The bed was old and you could almost feel the springs. The bathroom was motel quality. The room layout was clearly a forced effort at taking two rooms, tearing down one wall to make it one room and calling it a "suite". It was a forced effort that quite clearly failed.

I won't even bother going on about this place. I feel completely ripped off by The Union Club of B.C. and would never recommend it to anyone. feel free to message me if you would like to know any other details.

Room Tip: The Harbour View Suite is quite unspectacular. Save your money and stay in a regular room, or just b...

The Union Club in Victoria is located next to The Empress. It's 100 years old this year and a wonderful inn. With just 20 rooms on two floors overlooking the inner harbor, there's not much more you could want. It has a reading room, lounge, library, billiard parlor and dinning room. It was far more than we had hoped for.

We stayed here for two nights in August, and are glad we did. The Union Club has an old-time feel but with modern efficiencies. We were in a recently upgraded room, with fairly new paint, lighting and furniture. With the exception of the bathroom, everything was quite spacious and comfortable. The bathroom, however, had hardly any counter space, which made shaving etc. a bit difficult. It was very warm (for the area) during our visit, and the hotel doesn't have A/C. I understand that, but it meant we had to open the window, and that brought some street sounds we didn't need. The fan was very noisy.

We very much enjoyed the dining room, with its wonderful feel and gracious service. The library is right out of a British film, and well worth spending an hour or so reading with a drink in hand.

The location could not be better. Upon arrival in Victoria from the Vancouver ferry bus, we walked the two short blocks to the Union Club. The Inner Harbor is one block away.

We enjoyed the quiet and and the high standards of the Union Club. Before arriving we were concerned we might feel as outsiders; however we were welcomed by everyone we saw, staff and members alike. We enjoyed the dress code, it was not overly restrictive, we never felt underdressed. The breakfast was delicious and so enjoyable in the quiet, elegant surroundings. The location was perfect. The parking garage close by and excellent access. The room was comfortable and charming. The shower was good, but be aware that the tub is very deep with high side to negotiate when getting in and out. The value is excellent and I would never stay anywhere else!
