Location, location, location! And the rooms are clean, the staff is friendly. The only drawback is that the breakfast is not free. However, the room rate is so low that we were able to walk to several good breakfast restaurants and still save money. The parking was listed as $6 per night, but we were not charged. I would most definitely stay here again, and again.

Firstly upon check-in.. we literally had to wait 30 minutes before the guy checked us in. There were maybe four people in front of us - but only one guy at the desk! Let alone not being the quickest, he was also not the friendliest! We ordered specifically the suite with kitchenette.. and when we got to the room, they had the fridge and stove, etc.. but everything was locked! He didnt realize apparantly we didnt have a suite so we needed to go back down (in their elevator that seems like it was from the 1940's) to pick up a key.. so by doing that and waiting for the elevator for 25 minutes (yes, the same people who took forever at the front desk, were also taking forever at the elevator.. 1 person at the bell desk, 1 elevator.. if you like waiting for things, this hotel is for you) - i get back down there, and he said there were no more keys! WTF! So, he followed me up to unlock everything.
Among a few of the other things that lead to my ultimate result of never staying here again: There was one parking spot left in their small garage, and it was pinned between an SUV and a concrete wall, out room recor was old and unclean, rusty bathroom fixtures, TV from the 1970's, sheets were tucked in too tight ("well why dont i just untuck them" you might say.. well i did, it was just annoying, and this is a review!), they overcharged for a pet deposit (we have a very small dog.. and they charged $23 extra?? rip-off!, they have no breakfast, and their pool is a joke. It looked like a pool homer simpson would have made in their backyard.

OK, the pros: the location is about 2-3 blocks from the causeway, harbour, etc.. but to cancel out that pro, there are also another 10 or so hotels that are also in the same radius that are 100 times better.

Wont be coming back to this one anytime soon! (booked on expedia, thought the price was attractive, but no i know - not worth it!)

Good Afternoon,

We do sincerely regret to hear that you did not have a memorable experience with us during your stay. Sometimes waiting to check in after a long day of travel can certainly make a few minutes seem like 30 minutes. We apologize for any delay there and are always assisting guests as efficiently as possible. We are a 63 room hotel and have elevator and stair access to our rooms. I have contacted our maintenance department and there was no evidence of the elevator taking 25 minutes to move from level to level so again apologize for the apparent delay that you experienced.
We offer a variety of amenities for our guests and some suites do have beautiful kitchenettes. We are a short walk to all of the major attractions that Downtown Victoria has to offer. We pride ourselves on being a small hotel with a lot to offer our guests. Our decor has been updated since the 70’s many times and we are continuing our updates by installing brand new Sealy Posture Pedic Mattress in all of our guest room currently. Our pool is also being repainted in January. We do have a restaurant on site serving Breakfast as well as Dinner to accommodate your needs. It appears you did not have the chance to enjoy our breakfast onsite. In addition we are a pet friendly hotel and offer this at a fee of $20.00 per night and this is listed for our guests information on all websites and confirmations, as well as re-confirmed at check in.
Thank-you for expressing your concerns and we look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back to enjoy the best of what we have to offer. Please do not hesitate to email directly and I would be more than happy to assist with your return reservation.

Warm Regards,

This location is very central to restaurants, bar and downtown attractions. You can walk to almost anything you need. Most of the staff is very friendly and helpful. This hotel is for the budget traveler, so do not expect any frills or white glove service. Parking is cheap at $6! Rooms very clean and pretty standard. If you want a budget room just to sleep but be central, this is a good choice. Did not hear the pub down below which was good news.

Room Tip: I would ask for a higher floor if you want to avoid street noise

We were pleasantly surprised by this unpretentious, quirky little hotel: it was affordable, clean and quiet, and the location is almost unbeatable. The decor was pleasant, and the tiny steam room, although only big enough for two, heated up very quickly. Choose this hotel if you want an affordable, functional place to stay and don't care about valets, chocolates on your pillow and the other perks of first class. This is a Chevrolet that gets the job done, not a limo. Oh, one more thing: don't eat breakfast here. The hashbrowns I had were horrible. Instead, walk around the corner to Vista 18, and have breakfast in the clouds.

Room Tip: Get one facing the inner courtyard.

Thank-you for taking the time to write about your stay with us. We do look forward to welcoming you back to Victoria. As you know there are many things to see and do just footsteps from our front doors. We regret to hear that you had a not so favorable experience in the restaurant. We have reviewed your comments with our Food & Beverage Team as our goals are to meet and exceed our guests experience. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly for your return visit so I can ensure your comfort.

While convenient to the harbour, this is a noisy and poorly run hotel. Walls and floors are very thin, so you hear every footstep above and conversation. The ventilation system also made a horrid squealing noise when it turned on (there was no controls in the room to turn it off) and would wake us at night. We noticed a group of young party goers on our last night there, and let front desk know at 9pm that they were loud. They continued to party downstairs all night, and returned to their room at 2:30 am, at which point I had to step out into the hall to request them to be quiet. Another call to the front desk and I was told 'they were keeping an eye on them' (which, is apparently all they did.) This loud group walked through the lobby to get the elevator and obviously were not told to keep it down, nor did anyone follow up with my call.
If you value your sleep, chose elsewhere, not worth the $150 a night.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

Good Day,

I would like to take the time to thank-you for writing a review. We have Front Desk Staff available 24 hours a day to assist guests services. It is unfortunate that you were disturbed by guests in the hallway. Our procedure is to notify the guests that are causing the disturbance, which was done promptly as I was informed upon following up with our Night Staff. After this point it is monitored. We ask all guests to respect the shared space quiet hour after 11pm. I sincerely regret that this was not respected during your stay and in addition that I could not follow up with you prior to your departure. If you would like to contact me directly I will be happy to discuss how we can further assist you in ensuring your expectation are met for a return visit.

Warm Regards,
