“Excellent location”

The hotel lobby can use a little T.L.C It's outdated and has a little run down appearance to it. However, they had a
very nice coffee shop to one side of the lobby. The rooms were nice and specious with a Victorian decor.
The location is great and for the price it is a good deal.

We booked this hotel for the location and price. The location is great, hotel is nice and rooms look good. But I didnt sleep at all really during my stay. The beds are not great at all. The hotel advertise's free coffee and newspaper, got the paper but no coffee. We were told we have to leave the flyer out. But only flyer in the room is the 'do not distrub' sign. Not really a big deal. There is no parking at all in the hotel, we had to pay an extra $25 for 2 days parking. They are the 1st and only hotel to take full payment before we arrived. Found that a bit strange as hotels dont usually do this until afterward you've arrived. I wouldn't stay in this hotel again, and i think people should look else where. We had no Breakfast either.. We also asked for a room with a view.. We got one, facing the next building around 5 ft away from our window and no views.

Room Tip: Might be best staying at the back of the hotel as the main street is beside a few pubs. Could be too...

I stayed here with my brother for a night and the location was great. The rooms are really shabby and the noise level of the downtown area could be a little loud for the light sleepers. There is no breakfast and the parking is 4 blocks away with limited access to the lot and you have to pay? omg how horrible! there is a cute little coffee bar in the lobby and a gay lounge on the second floor with pool tables. All in all we had a great time and it was a safe and convenient hotel. Ju at the front desk as very nice and took care of me during our stay . He is a great employee.

My husband and I planned a weekend getaway to Victoria for my 25th birthday. We arrived on Friday, and left Sunday afternoon.

As we arrived, and the doors of the elevator opened on to our floor we were greeted by an overwhelming smell of urine! I can't understand how an entire floor can smell like pee...but it did! We found our room, and luckily the room itself did not smell. It was clean and welcoming.

Our room had a jacuzzi tub, queen bed, wood-burning fire place, tv etc. We liked it.

We were beginning to unpack, and start to relax...when we heard a troubling sound. Now, I realize it is an old buidling, and that certain things are to be expected, but we could hear rodents scurrying in the ceiling! (Initially it really scared us, because we had been talking about ghosts and wondering if the hotel is haunted! haha). We didn't see any rodents in our room, and the room had no evidence of rodents (we didn't see any feces) but we were kept awake at times by the squeekes and frantic scurrying above us. There is something very unnerving about those noises...

The bed itself was extremely uncomfortable. My husband and I both woke up with back pain each morning.

The location is convenient. It was nice to not use the car for the entire weekend. Everywhere we wanted to go, we were able to walk to.

The staff were ok. Not very personable, but not rude either. They just process your request and you're on your way. They didn't ask us if we enjoyed our stay or anything...I thought that was odd.

Unfortunately my first impression of the hotel is of a urine smell throughout the floor. That's how I'll remember the hotel, so we'll definitely be staying elsewhere on our next stay in Victoria.

Room Tip: Try to avoid staying in a room the faces the downtown. Our windows faced the street, and we had a f...

An older hotel located across the street from Victoria's downtown shopping centre and around the corner for its Bastion Square, a short walk to the Empress, Parliament Buildings and Provincial Museum and surrounded by restaurants. Not your basic North American hotel; more like the small to medium establishments one finds in England - a commercial building converted into a hotel. The room I had was at the back, top floor, long rectangle room with sitting area in front of a wood burning fireplace, complemented by a fantastic view overlooking the Inner Harbour seen through two large windows, a queen sized bed, a bar sized refrigerator, a stand alone basin outside of the bathroom and an amply sized jacuzzi bathtub. Complementary Globe and Mail newspaper. Rooms up front had unwelcome street noise, especially when the nearby pubs and taverns closed. Helpful staff; stored luggage between checking out and departure. Bar, your basic faux English pub; prompt service and a good selection of beers on tap.

Room Tip: rooms at back preferable to those at front - rain fall can be heard in top floor rooms - avoid rooms...

We stayed at the Bedford Regency for 2 nights just this week.

The location is perfect. You are right in the heart of downtown within walking distance to everything. You are about a 5 minute walk to the harbour and surrounded by quaint tourist shops and cafes. The only thing that was a bit too far was a grocery store; however, it's entirely possible that there was one close by and we missed it. Another pro was the air conditioner. Loved the coffee service and newspaper delivery in the morning.

The only things we missed during our visit was a balcony and a pool. Also, the rooms could use a bit of an update. While they are charming and very European looking, some of the fixtures are quite outdated and look a bit too 80s to pass off as vintage. If you're looking for a cookie-cutter room at a cookie-cutter hotel, this is not for you. Rather, the hotel itself and the rooms have a more antique feel to it. The front desk definitely needs some work. The desk is located at the back on the front hallway, and it's quite small. It would be very easy to miss it. The employees were friendly and helpful enough though. The beds were comfortable, pillows were great, and it was generally a very comfortable stay.

The walls in this hotel seemed very thin to us. We could hear our next-door neighbors come and go, as I'm sure they could hear us. We could also hear their television through the adjoining door. Luckily, we had quiet neighbors but the wrong neighbors could really spoil a nice vacation in this hotel.

There is no shuttle from the airport to the hotel and vice versa here. We booked our stay through hotels.ca who informed us that there was a $7.50 shuttle. When we arrived, we discovered that visitors had to use the ACAL shuttle which was $19/person. I'm guessing a cab ride would have cost around $70, so the shuttle was definitely the way to go for us. I doubt you would find any downtown hotel with a free or cheap shuttle as the airport is a fair distance from the downtown core.

Lastly, if you plan to stay at this hotel, I would recommend getting a room to the back of the building. We were supposed to stay in a room looking out onto the main street, but we immediately noticed the noise from the street below and changed rooms. I'm not sure how anybody could sleep in one of these rooms. Apparently, there are a couple of suites with balconies that are "premium suites". If we could redo our visit, we would consider a few extra bucks for the balcony.

All in all, this was a very nice hotel. With a few updates, I think it could be just perfect for any Victoria visitor.

Room Tip: Ask for a quieter room not facing the main street

The location of the hotel cannot be beat at all. You are right in the heart of downtown, literally steps away from Bastion square (come out turn left, there it is).

The property feels more like an old set of apartments than a traditional hotel and in my mind that's a very good thing. It felt like the property had more character than the simple mega hotel where every room is the same as the next. We had a room with a wood burning fire place, a jacuzzi tub, and a neat little sitting area that also had a small library and bookshelves set into the walls. It gave a very neat vibe to the place. The bed itself was a little on the harder side of things, but not so hard that it was uncomfortable at all and overall there was a lot of floor space in the room we were in. It was not cramped at all.

There is a cafe as well as 2 restaurants on site, but we did not eat there so I cannot comment on them. We did have internet in the room courtesy of the wireless routers around the property and it did not cost anything extra which is a plus since a lot of hotels seem to charge for that for some reason.

Parking at the hotel itself is non existent, a small place in front to unload the car for a few minutes but then you must move your car to the parking garage. It's just down the street a short way and not at all hard to find or get into. Plus parking is only $11 for guests until 1 PM the next day and you get in and out access to the parkade. You can't beat that at all parking near the waterfront in Vic.

If you're looking for a hotel with all sorts of extras or like the feeling of a chain hotel, then this property may not be for you. However, if you're looking for an alternative to the ordinary and want to stay in a place with a little more character and style maybe check this out. For a hotel right in the heart of things

Room Tip: The Deluxe Jacuzzi rooms are nice and very nicely laid out. Also ask about Non refundable rate.
