Beautiful home -- on a quiet but central street -- filled with period decor and artwork. Sherry and home-made treats in the drawing room. Fresh flowers, truffles and sparkling wine waiting in the room. Huge jetted tub, fireplace ready to light, bathrobes in the closet. Amazing breakfasts. Gracious host. Be sure to purchase extra truffles to take home. Forget the waterfront hotels. By far the best B&B we've stayed at. We visit Victoria several times a year and regret having not discovered this place sooner. Can't wait to return.

Room Tip: The Edward Room is top floor over the lounge/drawing room, and has a view of St. Anne's Academy...

I had never done a "B&B" before - so I was quite anxious about what to expect. The "innkeeper", David, is amazing, and put any concerns I might have had instantly to rest. Our experience was exquisitely intimate and exceptionally positive. This is a great video from their Facebook Page that shows what you can expect during your stay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjFa1R-drCI&list=HL1360528373

One of my favorite places to have ever stayed. Truly beautiful. We enjoyed the Gazebo Room immensely. The ambiance was relaxing and romantic. The view was lovely. The sunken tub...need I really say more about it? The breakfast was delivered in a basket through a 2 way and the food was amazing. if you are a foodie, you will be very happy with the gourmet treats here.

Room Tip: There isn't a bad room. It's all about what look you like and how much you want to spend.

I can't stay enough wonderful things about this place! The innkeeper, David, is amazingly helpful and runs a great place. We stayed in the Edwards room. Beautiful room with fine decor. We had truffles and chilled bottle of sparkling wine waiting for us when we arrived. Roomy jacuzzi tub and very soft bedding. Breakfast at this bed and breakfast was served differently than I've had it served. They have two way box that they put breakfast basket in and you eat in your room. While there is no table, we just picnicked on the floor. When ordering breakfast, you sign a sheet a the front door declaring what room you are in and put down A,B,C or D and whether you want coffee or tea and whatever special instructions after that. The Humboldt house is a 5- 10 min walk from inner harbor and several great attractions and eateries. The room specials are very worth it. We will most defiantly be returning.

This is an excellent location for a trip to Victoria and the lower end of Vancouver Island. The rooms were clean and little touches such as the truffle were nice although probably not as important to us as others. Eating breakfast in the room was nice in some regards but I typically enjoy meeting the others at a B&B so this was missed. Honeymooners would probably appreciate. It was quiet and our suite even had a little outside table although it was too cold to enjoy on our days there. Although the photos do not show this, the room that we stayed in had the bed pushed against the wall which made it very difficult getting in and out of the bed for the "inside" person. The closer area was very awkward and there was little room for our suitcases to be able to get clothes out. The bath was outside the suite area but that had been made clear and was not really a problem but could be an issue if you locked yourself outside during the night! The breakfast was good but since we stayed 3 nights and it was the same each day, it was a bit repetitous. And since crepes were the primary focus, you should make sure that you enjoy them (the people in our party who liked them said they were very good.)

So - food is good especially if you like crepes and a good continental breakfast (nice fresh fruit!) and the rooms were comfortable although a bit hard to use because of the setup. The price was reasonable for a in-town B&B situated so that we could walk to almost everywhere.

Room Tip: ground floor suite would be good for families but need to be careful of the bathroom being outside t...

This was a wonderful B&B. David, the owner, is a phenomenal host. He was very gracious on check in and explained all about the Humboldt House. Helped with questions re the area as well. The room (Mikado) was lovely. Our breakfast was so special. We have pictures to remind us of the delicious food he made. We were also impressed with his chocolates and cookies. The facility was very close to the harbor, so walking was easy. It was quiet there too, so we enjoyed that. Very different from your average hotel, motel, etc.
