“Family holiday with grandchildren”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

I was disappointed in the room we got. According to the pictures it looked like a big room with lots of room for our grandchildren to move around. It was difficult with luggage and the biggest draw back that you had to step up to go into the bathroom and many times people would forget to do that going in or out of the bathroom. not cool. The hot tub was not working so that was a let down too. The only thing that was good we were across from the harbour and we seen lots of boats coming in and out of the harbour. Plus to see the My Coho arrive was a treat. In my opinion I would not stay for the price you pay.

Room Tip: Ask for harbour side if you want to see the harbour. As for rooms we got the kitchenette room and it...

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are happy to hear you enjoyed our perfect location - downtown on Victoria's Inner harbour across from the Coho Ferry as you mentioned - and we are always making improvement to our facilities and services so we welcome our guests feedback. Thank you again and we hope to see you on your next visit to our garden city.

I have stayed at this hotel quite a number of times over the years. The location is wonderful and most of the staff were always friendly and helpful.
However the last time was an eyeopener. We were assigned a room on the third floor with a tiny shower, a cramped toilet and an inconveniently located sink. I checked afterwards with our booking agent and tripadvisor other guests have already complained in their reviews. The next day I informed the manager of the problem. She indicated it was essentially my fault, as the customer, as I didn't inform staff as soon as I entered the room! There were good reasons why I did not but I did not feel I needed to share them as, from her body language and tone, she was obviously not interested in what I had to say. The next day she felt she had been magnanimous and took less than 20% off the basic room bill 'as a courtesy'. She added there were only very few rooms like that in the hotel. In other words, 'We knew we were giving you an inferior, smaller room but did it anyway because we don't care!'
Unfortunately, such an attitude leads a customer to check on other items. The list is as follows- the hotel hairdryer did not work and the grill was missing from the radiator in the room. The hall floor was filthy. The restaurant floor was very dirty as were the windows and their sills. We had to wipe down our own seats before sitting even though a hostess took us to the table. The waitress poured coffee into mugs with lipstick stains. We cleaned the dirty cutlery personally.
Other problems I have omitted for space.
This is the first 'Terrible' review I have ever submitted to Tripadvisor.
Should the manager reply,as some of the more diligent do, be assured I'll respond if there is any item I feel is misleading or erroneous.
I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone anymore and intend to tell everyone why.

Room Tip: Ask to examine any assigned room before signing in.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review on our hotel. I am sorry that you felt management was negatively aggressive as that would not have been the intention. We assign rooms to all of our guests based on requirements set out in the reservations. If there are any special requests or needs written in the comments we do our best to fulfil them. When you got to your room it didn’t suit your needs with a shower only, we would have been happy to move you to a room with a larger bathroom and tub. And if not available the first night we would have been happy to have set it up with as little inconvenience to you as possible for the second, as was mentioned to you the first morning. Your notes on deficiencies are appreciated and will be addressed as that is not our standard. Thank you again for your comments.

My wife and I just spent 3 vacation days here. PROS: As others say: great location. Directly across the street from the ferry, so we left our car behind in Port Angeles and saved a lot of money and hassle. Victoria is very foot and public bus friendly. The price was also good: $140 + taxes for a harbor view room. Cleanliness & comfort were fine. CONS: The hotel is noisy. Room doors slam and echo up and down the hall at all hours. 2nd floor rooms are above the lounge, and on Wed nite ("Music Bingo") it was as if the DJ was in our room! Because there's no need for AC, on warm nights open windows are reasonable, but the harbor-view is also the street side, with trucks and buses, seaplanes revving their engines, and ferry horns. The "harbor-view" is also greatly limited by the tall trees out front, so, if you stay, stay on the top 4th floor, where you'll also see more of the harbor and be farther from the street.

The bathrooms were DIRTY...., there is a step up to the bathroom so be careful in the middle of the night that you don't trip climbing up to the bathroom. We paid extra for a view and the noise from the restaurant made it impossible to sleep. There was no other ventilation other than keeping the window open so you either sweat or listened to the bar noise. The location was great but NOT worth the "dirty rooms" and noise!

Room Tip: If you have to stay here do NOT pick a room facing the harbor.

The location can not be more perfect. Traveling without a car, the Days Inn spot was extremely convenient for public transportation, both buses and ferries. The room was modest in style, but comfortable. As mentioned, there was no AC, but the window fan helped. Being there on some quite warm days, the nights cooled down enough for the fan to be fine. I did love having a harbor view, but didn't read the noise reviews ahead. (Ear plugs recommended, or an inside room.) Staff was friendly.

Room Tip: Harbor view rooms are noisy with the window's open.

More like a 4.5/5 star rating. I have stayed here many times over the last 7 years. This is a very reasonably priced, average hotel, in a great location= Good value. There is free, safe parking at the back of the hotel. Basic "continentalish" breakfast vouchers are included and the restaurant is always pleasant. The walls can seem a bit thin if the neighbors are loud. Front desk service is consistently good. Rooms are always clean. I look forward to staying here again. The value and location can not be beat. Close to the ferries that go to the USA and a short walk from the bus station.

Room Tip: The harbor view is nice but not completely necessary because you will probably be outside walking ar...
