Walking into the smallest hotel room we have EVER entered, we we're then confronted with a thermostat that would not kick in the AC. Turns out there is no AC in the hotel at all...... "Open the windows for ventilation" we were told. That worked! Outdoor air temps and constant breezes at the harbor kept our room very comfortable for our two day stay! The restaurant on the ground floor serves up a great breakfast (additional expense) for under ten bucks which included eggs, fresh fruit, breakfast meats...the whole nine yards! The ground floor bar opens up onto a full length patio that was rocking with a great DJ who kept the crowd entertained with music trivia bingo....awarding winners with T shirts and free drinks for their accomplishments! The teriyaki chicken wings were, hands-down,the best I have EVER eaten.....anywhere!
Located right on the harbor and directly across from the ferry terminal gave easy walking access to all of the harbor sites....and our early morning ferry departure to Port Angeles was a snap. The online reservations gave us pricing at what one would expect to pay at a highway motel...never mind one located right in the city.
As it turned out, our friends were staying at exclusive Empress Hotel nearby....and even that establishment had no AC either!! The harbor breezes do it all!

Room Tip: Our corner room had two windows....each on adjacent walls that gave a more than adequate cross ventilation for cooling.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review. We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us - our amazing location right on Victoria's beautiful Inner Harbour - as well as found our hotel a good value. Glad the ocean breeze compensated for the a/c - so many hotels find this as well. Thank you again for your comments and we hope to see you again on your next visit to our garden city!

We sat on the patio of this hotel for dinner on a warm June evening. Our group decided to enjoy a selection of appies. We were not disappointed! We shared a wonderful selection of delicious food, good wine and a wonderful atmosphere, over-looking the Victoria Harbour.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your comments on our hotel restaurant! It's great to hear you enjoyed your evening on our outdoor patio facing Victoria's beautiful Inner Harbour. We're lucky to have the onsite restaurant and lounge for our guests, and locals, to enjoy for breakfast, lunch, dinner - or on the patio for appies and drinks on a warm summer night! Thank you again for your review and we look forward to welcoming you back.

We checked in and had to wait due to the room not being ready. After waiting 30 minutes and finally getting the keys, we get into the run down hotel room and it wreaks of weed. I asked the cleaning lady, and she said, "Nope your not crazy, it wreaks in there." I said, "Why am I paying over $180 a night for a room that wreaks of weed" and she agreed it was absurd and no-one would want to stay in that room for that price. She suggested I talk to the front desk, as there was nothing she could do at the time. This staff member was very understanding of how I felt.

I talked to one of the front desk agents and she suggested we move our stuff out and wait again while they ozonate the room. The second front desk agent was nice enough to begin searching for another room and found a spare room in the hotel. The second room however had black hairs on the bed, a sticky table, and cracked glasses in the cupboard.

Overall quality of the hotel is very low (Hotel cost was over $180 a night). I stay in hotels for work regularly, and the room quality of this hotel is attached to your typical 69-89 dollar a night room. Rooms are extremely dated and run down, and the lack of AC units in the room is ridiculous as well. Every hotel I have stayed at in the last year for work (probably about 25-30 hotels) has had an ac unit in the room or general AC in the building and has cost less than the room I purchased for this visit.

Unless you need to stay here, don't. Like I stated above, very sub-par quality at a ridiculous price.

Room Tip: All the good rooms lie in the newer hotels surrounding this overpriced atrocity.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are sorry to hear that you found our accommodations unsatisfactory but I am happy to hear the staff tried to accommodate you the best that they could. We are a non-smoking facility and do not allow our guests to smoke at all in the rooms but unfortunately it does still happen. We appreciate you bringing to our attention the oversights of our housekeeping department, and please know that it was not our normal standards, and appreciate feedback so we can alleviate issues for future guests. The lack of air-conditioning is not usually an issue with us being on the water – but with this unusually warm weather this summer we try and help with the fan in the rooms. Thank you again for your comments.
