“Dreadful Days Inn - We checked right out.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2006

We checked in to the Days Inn Victoria Harbour - and immediately checked out and found another place nearby with air conditioned rooms - The Admiral's Inn. Our very small assigned room at the Days Inn had no airconditioning ( there is none at this hotel ) and was unattractive and shabby and provides no complimentary breakfast in the summer. It was right on top of their outdoor restaurant . The cooking odors and noise from the crowds that gathered to hangout and drink beer spread for a distance along the street. Victoria is a small walking city and the harbour can be easily reached from most of the hotels - Avoid this hotel. The Admiral's Inn is a block from the Days Inn Victoria Habour - they have complimentary continental breakfast and free parking - but no swimming pool or health club on site. Our room there had 2 queen beds and also a full kitchen - some of their rooms have patios - and our negotiated rate was lower than at the Days Inn.

Overnight accommodation was included with our Victoria Clipper package from Seattle, Wa. Price included boat trip, hotel transfers and overnight stay - very reasonable. No need to use the hotel transfer vouchers! This hotel is very well located overlooking the harbour, nestled in amidst more expensive properties, just a short stroll from the ferry dock. Travelling with my daughter and her 16-month old baby, we were impressed - they allowed us to check in early - 10:30am - portable crib was already all set up in the room, with clean crib sheet and blanket for the baby. How convenient!

Our budget room faced away from the harbour and was a little cramped due to stroller and crib, but everything we needed was there - complimentary bottled water and morning newspaper, coffee maker, even a loaner umbrella, should we need it. They were ready and willing to move us to a larger room with harbour view (additional cost) but we decided to stay put. I think the slightly more expensive harbour view rooms have 2 beds (ours had one).

There was no door sill between bedroom and bathroom as described in other reviews. We didn't see any tripping hazard...bathroom had recently been retiled with new tub and shower curtain. There were ample towels and the bed sheets were crisp and white.

Yes, there's no balcony, but the windows open, and it was quiet at night with a pleasant fresh breeze.

It's true that the upholstery and carpeting are a little tired, but for the price, the location is unbeatable - walk to everything - and the staff were very kind, both in hotel and restaurant. (Restaurant and bar both have great harbour views, with indoor and outdoor seating.

We would certainly stay there again.

We stayed at this hotel for one night on 13th Feb '06, having gone across to Victoria from Vancouver for the day and spontaneously deciding to stay the night. We hadn't booked in advance, but this had a good location and we were fortunate that they had a room. We only had to pay $70 CAD, for which we got a queen sized room overlooking the harbour! Great value. That even included breakfast in their restaurant, which was nice and clean, with efficient friendly staff. The room itself was clean and up together (none of the shabiness that other reviews have mentionned). It was a nice 10 minute stroll around the harbour to get to the centre of downtown Victoria, so the location was great. I would definately stay here again.

Stayed for one night, Aug. 22nd. Arrived late at night. Room small and nothing special. Bathroom miniscule, and need to step up which is very inconvenient and serves no purpose. Did not have continental breakfast advertised in brochure on ferry. Lobby outdated. Some positives: no charge for parking, great location within walking distance to ferry, parliament, harbor, etc. Did not feel great value at 169. Place feels shabby and uncared for. Would try the Best Western next door, seemed more modern.

I didn't know what to expect; but we were happily surprised. This is not your average Days Inn. The rooms were beautiful; the restaurants great; and the staff was fantastic.

The hotel is across from the ferry terminal, and close to the harbor area; which made practically everything in walking distance.

It was a great stay!

We stayed at the Days Inn on Harbour on March 24 and 25, 2005. We were told we would have a room with two queen beds. In fact, we got a room with two queen headboards with double beds centered in front of the headboard.

The bathroom had a dangerous step into and out of, and it was amazingly small. The room was very small, and was poorly lit.

The Friday evening we stayed (Good Friday), the hotel became party central. I was awakened at 1 AM by revelers returning from a night out. This went on until 3:30 AM, with loud guests in the hallways, door slamming, etc. I never went back to sleep after 1 AM, and it was a difficult drive back to central Oregon having had essentially no sleep.

On the upside, the hotel has a great location. It is easy walking distance to the Parliament Building, BC Museum, the shops on Government Street, and China Town.

It is also located directly across the street from the Port Angeles Ferry.

While this hotel is not the worst place I've stayed, I would not stay there again.

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 October 2004

Stayed in this hotel in early October 2004, and although it's central to all of Victoria's attractions and the inner harbour, we were disappointed with our stay. The rooms are incredibly small, and very hot and stuffy--no air conditioning. We could barely turn around in our room, and the bathroom was also very cramped (with an annoying and dangerous step up into the bathroom). We had to keep the window open due to the heat, and found it incredibly noisy in the morning. The parking lot is small and cramped with very little room to park or exit. Definitely avoid the restaurant--the food was really sub-par--our vegetable appy was stale and unappealing, and our entrees were quite mediocre. I would shop around for a better value--this hotel was not worth the rate we were charged.
