“Good location”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

Stayed for one night at the Huntingdon. Location was good for the Victoria harbour and surrounding area. The hotel needs some money invested in it as it is in a sweet location, but it is looking it's age. Room was quiet and large. Front staff was very helpful. We would stay again.

We stayed one night at the Huntingdon. It needs a total upgrade . It is sadly dated , the carpet in our room was disgustingly dirty . Considering the convenient location and it has some stiff competition in the area one would think the owners would invest some money into this property . I will not be returning there .

Room Tip: I would ask to inspect a room prior to taking it for the night .

Thats about it although the price was fair considering it was perhaps the busiest long weekend of the summer - splash time. We had a nice room for 4 days with a kitchenette.
The main disappointments were WIFI didn't work on our floor even though they kept saying someone was working on it. The other disappointment was the condition of the balcony which needed some very old wood replaced. The ladies on the floor looking after the rooms did a VG job.
Wouldn't return unless there were significant updating.

Unfortunately the great location does not outweigh the negatives. Our room was unbearably hot. At the time, we weren't in a position to move, but upon reflection, we just should have eaten the cost and moved to a hotel that had AC in order to enjoy our vacation. We didn't mind that the hotel is quite out-dated but not being able to use the room between breakfast and dinner is unreasonable. The hotel provided a small electric fan. I'm not sure who was more embarrassed: them for offering or us for accepting. Rest periods are a big part of our vacation schedule and the hot room really affected the whole trip.

We stayed one night at the Huntingdon and will NEVER go back. I am disabled and I was treated horribly! We arrived in Victoria on the ferry and took our luggage to the hotel for safe keeping while we toured the city until our check-in at 3:00 p.m. So the hotel knew we were in town and we told them that we would be back for sure at 3:00 pm. We were with 2 other couples. When we returned 2 of the rooms were ready, ours was not. We were told by the front desk that it would only be 10 min, I became ill and told the front desk that I needed to lie down, No help...45 minutes later we finally got our key. This was after I sat watching 5 other customers check-in with no problems. I tried to talk to Mr. Bernd Bohl and he wouldn't talk to me. He refused to call me back or return my e-mail. When we finally got into our room in was filthy. That 45 minute wait was for what??? I, as a disabled person, have never been treated so rudely by a hotel and it's staff. I especially have never known a General Manager to refuse to talk to a customer with complaints. Just don't go there.

Room Tip: There is no tip. This hotel was not customer friendly and definitely not disabled friendly!

The only reason why it is getting two stars is beacuase it is conveniently located otherwise it would be a one star.
The ground rooms are VERY noisy since there are continuosly buses stopping just in fornt of the hotel.
Plus they are VERY old: everything in the room looked shabby and worn plus when you opened the water it did a loud sound...who knows why.
Front desk has not been helpful at all: my mum asked if they could book a hotel in Vancouver and they suggested to help herself at the computer that was available in the lounge. Thanks a lot.

Room Tip: NOT the ground rooms.

I have travelled in various countries and stayed in many hotels, but this was by far the worst I've ever encountered, including third world. The cigarette smell in the rooms was so bad, it made me ill. The room was extremely old, falling apart, and totally dirty. The parking was atrocious and the handicap parking stall were so small, you could not pull into them and get a wheelchair out. The front desk had difficulty understanding our requests and answering them. However, after seeing our room and being so disgusted, we decided to leave and they didn't charge us. Thank goodness for the hotel across the street - they went out of their way to assist us in our time of need.
