Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 30 August 2014

This hotel is perfectly situated for visiting Victoria. Close to all the tourist spots and amenities.
The gardens and exterior looked manicured and well kept. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Inside the hotel looks a little tired and worn. The carpets were stained in our room as was the wallpaper in the bathroom. The air conditioning was difficult to work. We got hot rather than cold air. The bed was comfortable and the room clean. Had a great view over the courtyard and towards the water.
We wanted to eat in The Gatesby Mansion: However the menu discouraged us as it was "nouveau cuisine" with no plain cooking on it for somebody with a delicate stomach. We asked the waiter about the pub and were told that it was only open between 9am and 1pm. Why? If it was advertised more and open later then it would generate more business.
We would stay here again.

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay at The Huntingdon Manor.
We are sorry that you didn't receive the restaurant service that you wanted- with two restaurants on the premises, we try to please everyone's palate. Hunters caters to a more casual fare and offers a buffet breakfast and light luncheon items daily. The Gatsby Mansion Restaurant has more extensive hours in keeping with its location overlooking the Inner Harbour and its different dining areas catering to breakfast, lunch, dinner and high tea.
We will be changing the dinner menu in Gatsby's to showcase more "Comfort Foods" items.
The Huntingdon Hotel and Gatsby Mansion will be undergoing refurbishments commencing this October.
Come back and visit us again-- relax in our gardens and experience the warm hospitality of our staff.

Really disappointed with this Hotel, It looks so pretty on the outside especially in the night time, when all the lights are lit.
Inside it is dated and tired and things need replacing, our sink all chipped, carpets stained, wallpaper coming off, mattresses very thin.
staff where very friendly but won't stay here again because not that reasonable, but good location for the harbour.

We chose the huntingdon for it's charm and great location--witting close walking distance to the harbor. We were in Victoria to compete in the dragon boat races.
The rate was good; but the room was on the small side and stuffy.
The staff were fantastic!
The restaurants appeared a bit understaffed.
What's up with 3 different Eggs Benedict options; but they had no English muffins?
We were told the property will be renovated this winter.
Hope they add air conditioning!
The place has potential to be the best!!

A few friends and I rented one of their spacious suites. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us. It had 2 levels, 2 queen beds, a pull out couch, a kitchenette and a large washroom. Just perfect for 4 ladies on a night out in Victoria! The staff were very friendly and the location is perfect (right beside the Inner Harbour.) I would recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a great deal as the price is not nearly as high as most Inner Harbour hotels.

The location of Huntingdon Manor cannot be faulted. Within easy walking distance to the attractions and providing great views across of the Inner Harbour, we were more than happy with the ease of getting around.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was served with a smile and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside on the Gatsby Mansion porch, soaking in the view.
As an older hotel, the room was large with plenty of space for two double beds and everything was clean. It just isn't new. We got a great deal on the room rate, so certainly felt we got good value given the rates of other hotels nearby.

We picked this property because we wanted to be walking distance to the Inner Harbour and we didn't want to pay much, because this was a quick one-night stopover between the ferry ride and the flight home.

The property IS very dated and sorely in need of a makeover.

The lack of air conditioning was noticeable.

But the place was in a capital city downtown, within walking distance of all the attractions, shops and restaurants. It was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the
nightly rate was nearly $100 less than the next cheapest option. What do you expect for $109 in the height of tourist season?

If you're paying rock bottom price for a superb location, it's reasonable to expect that the accommodations will be modest.

I understand that there are renovations planned for this property in the months ahead. I expect a dramatic increase in price will follow.

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay at the Huntingdon.
Your positive comments regarding our staff and the cleanliness of the hotel are much appreciated.
as mentioned, refurbishments of the guestrooms and lobby will begin in this October.
All of our guestrooms on the third floor are air conditioned. There are no immediate plans to put air conditioning on the first and second floor. .All rooms have fans and being close to the water it tends to cool down at night. This summer however has been unusually hot over a long period of time.
Be assured that our prices will not sky rocket once the refurbishments have been completed. We plan modest increases over the next few years.
We invite you back to experience our "New" look!

This was our second time in Victoria and we stayed at the Huntingdon both times. We pretty much stumbled upon it during our first visit, but my wife liked the place so much we came back for two nights. We had one of the loft suites both times and they are much better than a regular hotel room for about the same price. Bathroom was modern and clean. The kitchen area is convenient with a full sized refrigerator and stove. We didn't cook anything but it would nice to have if you are so inclined. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a bicycle rental place in front of the hotel if you want to rent bikes. We didn't eat at any of the restaurants on the property so I can't make any recommendations there. It is away from the bustle of downtown but is a very convenient location to downtown and the ferries from Port Angeles and Seattle.

Room Tip: We like the loft suites.
