“value for money, good choice when you know all specifics”
Reviewed 5 August 2010

We stayed here 2 nights in August.
Not having an elevator is a massive disadvantage; having to drag 2 heavy suitcases up 2 stairs is not really fun to do.
Loation: the hotel is a 10 minute drive from the city centre. Parking there costs approx. $2,25 per hour, both streetside and garages. There is a free shutlle for those who also return before 6 PM because only on thu-sun it runs untill 10PM.
Rooms: large ! 2 queen beds, kitchenette, small bathroom. All a bit outdated but clean.
Breakfast: quite good. Only when we left after breakfast we saw the waitress with 2 glasses of orange juice; i wonder why there wasn't any orange juice when we were having our breakfast....
I think if you consider staying here, you compare the price with the closer-to-town alternatives (as i always do). A next time i would stay closer to the centre but that is a personal motive which can be different from anyone else's.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. It is indeed a challenge not having an elevator. However, we do the best that we can to accommodate our guests from assisting with luggage to relocating guests to rooms on the main floor to avoid stairs. We find that with the mix of guests that want to avoid stairs and those that don't mind it, we are typically able to accommodate all guest needs.

Parking costs in downtown Victoria can add up quite quickly. We always recommend to our guests to leave their car at our hotel where parking is free and to ride our free shuttle into downtown. If our shuttle times don't meet guest needs, public transportation is available for an affordable cost. You can also by a Harbour Ferry pass and get unlimited 2 day service all around Victoria's harbour including between the hotel and downtown.

Although our location is not for everyone, we believe that our service, value, lower room rates, and free shuttle more than compensate for the short ride to downtown. Thank you again for writing the review. We appreciate feedback from all of our guests.

We recently stayed at the Travelodge Victoria for five days. I had previously read Trip Advisor and made several requests based on the information I had learned. I knew there were no elevators so requested the same level as the main desk. I also asked for a quiet room facing the water if possible. The staff went out of their way to accommodate my requests. We were extremely happy with the polite, friendly service and the clean, comfortable room! I feel that we received excellent value for the money spent and we would not hesitate to stay there again. I have already recommended it to friends.
For those people who are not looking for a fancy, expensive downtown hotel and who do not mind an approximate ten minute drive to the downtown area, this is a very good choice.

I volunteered as a host and tour guide for a 32 member children's choir from the Czech Republic. Travelodge Victoria helped tremendously by giving us a great deal on accommodation. The rooms are comfortable, spacious (even 4 to a room, we didn't feel cramped), spotlessly clean, the staff friendly and efficient. They even kept the swimming pool open for us longer so the kids could enjoy it after their (very successful) concert. The hotel location is quiet, yet perfect for easy access to downtown; you can even see the illuminated Parliament building from there. We had a delicious and copious breakfast and continued on our toor well rested and refreshed. Thank you very much, Travelodge!

I am so pleased to hear that the tour was a success. We pride ourselves on our ability to host groups especially when they are composed of youth. We are always happy to be flexible on the use of our facilities to accommodate the needs of groups. Thank you for taking the time to write a review and we look forward to seeing you again in the future!

We (2 adults + 4 children) stayed for 5 nights in a queen suite with kitchen (one night in a double queen with kitchen).
The front desk staff was very helpful and even called our room after we checked in to make sure everything was in order and to check if we needed anything.
Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful and always asked if we needed anything like more towels or more coffee (for the in room machine).
The room was very clean and everything was in good condition (i.e. no paint/wall paper/peeling, no water stains, no obvious bad paint job). The bed and the pull out couches were comfortable.
We made use of the pool, sauna and pool showers and found everything clean and in good order.
It's about a 8 minute drive from downtown Victoria so it's convenient but it's not walking distance to downtown. There was a free shuttle available to downtown that left the hotel at 9:30a and returned around 5:30p.
What we liked best was the cleanliness, value of the accommodation and the attention of the staff. The thing I liked least was the wireless internet reception in a room we stayed in on the third floor. It was a little weak but worked. The wireless internet access in the room we stayed in on the second floor was perfect.

Very clean, excellent customer service, on site laundry, beautiful view of the Parliment buildings, but away from the noise of the inner harbor. Great follow up survey after our stay and a lovely letter from the GM - We will return and we both highly recommend this hotel.

Thank you so much for writing a review of our hotel. I am glad that you received the letter from our hotel. We recognize the value in the feedback guests provide to us through reviews, direct comments, or filling out guest surveys. But more often than not, the guest never receives any recognition for their efforts to provide feedback! That is why we make it a point to respond to each and every review, comment card, or online survey. It's just our way of saying "thank you!"

Stayed there for 3 nights and had a terrific sleep each night. The first morning we noticed a problem with the tub draining, reported it to staff and was fixed by that afternoon. Very relaxing and close to downtown with a bus stop right outside the hotel entrance. Lovely view and great for people with dogs as their is an off-leash park right accross the street. Would definitely stay there again!

We had a lovely 3 nights stay. Service was friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, spacious, quiet and the view was beautiful! Enjoyed the pool, walks on a trail minutes from the hotel and tasty burgers and beer in the hotel pub. We recommend others to spend their vacation at this establishment and we will be staying there again too. Thank you to all the staff for a delightful experience!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad that you enjoyed the use of our services and facilities. You should consider trying the cheesecake at our pub next time you're in town. In my opinion, it's the best in town! They also do a delicious steak special on Friday nights! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
