We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Marco Polo for the following reasons...

1. Very welcoming and yet unobtrusive hosts with fabulous local knowledge

2. Stunning rooms with every thing you could wish for

3. Delicious, interesting, enormous breakfasts served round a communal table where you can meet really fascinating fellow travellers!!!!

Prospective guests should note it is a 30 minute walk/10 minute drive from the "city centre". We think this was a bonus as the villa was blissfully peaceful and we thoroughly enjoyed our walks. Recommend very strongly!!!

A night at the Villa Marco Pollo was gifted to my husband and I even though we live in Victoria (Colwood) and it was a an utmost wonderful vacation away from home! We were greeted with the most charming hospitality and promptly cared for the entire evening we were at the villa. The room we stayed in was decorated so romantically stunning you felt as if you were staying in a far far away land long from any stress or everyday headaches. We immersed ourselves in the decor, our comfy robes, the outstandingly delicious breakfast, and a stroll through the quaint but robust gardens of the late Spring season We enjoyed every minute of our romantic Victorian stay-cation and would recommend other locals or tourists take a night to themselves and embrace the same wonderful experience we had in our own city, a pleasantly historic area that they may have not had the chance to yet enjoy. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!!

Room Tip: we were given a choice of rooms at the time we stayed as they were vacant and you wouldn't be di...

The villa is beautiful...the gardens, the common areas and the suites....amazing. Our suite was so lovely. The beds are extremely comfortable and luxurious. Every detail was perfect....from the lovely robes to the turn-down service complete with delicious chocolates on our pillows...every thoughtful touch made our experience so special. By far, Villa Marco Polo exceeded our expectations. The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful and it is only a short drive to the center of downtown Victoria. Liam and the staff were so helpful to suggest and arrange any special activites such as whale watching or tours of Vancouver Island. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!

We stayed at the Villa Marco Polo Inn for a romantic Valentine's Day getaway. The inn is beautifully decorated and located in a quiet residential area surrounded by other historical homes.

The breakfasts were absolutely amazing and our host was so service-oriented! Breakfast is usually served at a large dining room table with other guests but there was another couple who were quite unpleasant. Our host quietly addressed the issue by allowing us to eat at a table for two in the breakfast room. He also packed us a breakfast-to-go on our last day since we were leaving early to catch a flight.

The location of the inn is perfect for visiting downtown Victoria or exploring the surrounding area. There are also pleasant common areas including an upstairs lounge with complimentary brandy!

We would definitely stay at the inn again and would highly recommend it to other travellers. Just remember to be nice to your fellow guests!

If you want a Bed & Breakfast experience that has beautiful decor, tantalizing dishes of food, and a garden area designed for meandering...then put the Villa Marco Polo Inn on the top of your list!
Need an additional incentive? They offer in-house massages, a cozy library, and a nightly selection of wine, tea, and cookies.
Breakfast is served in either the Formal Dining room or the quaint little Orangerie, and consisted of a 4-course meal worth bragging about to our fellow travelers (who were not fortunate enough to have stayed at the same B&B with us). Each breakfast was a delightful surprise in both culinary creativity and beautifully appointed place settings. Each evening when we returned to our room, we found the bedding turned down and either a small gift of chocolates or a bud of fresh flowers to further 'sweeten' our stay.
Can't say enough about the tasteful interior design and friendliness of the owners, every small detail was put forth to make this an absolutely delightful experience!

This Inn is a must stay!
It is located about one mile from the inner harbour where all the hub bub of tourist central happens. This tranquil property can boast its quiet location within walking distance to cafés bistrós and shops on bustling Fort Street.
The garden is perfect to relax in after a busy day of sightseeing, wine tours, whale watching or just wandering the streets of this turn of century neighborhood.
Wanja and Simona were our hosts, two lovely, polite, couteous girls whose knowledgeable information about dining in the city was very much appreciated and spot on.
The beds and linens are exceptional, the breakfast every morning was different and delicious.
We even tried the spa for a little pampering, and our masseuse was devine.
Thank you Villa Marco Polo

From our initial contact through our departure, our experience at Villa Marco Polo Inn and Spa was exceptional in every way. My wife and I were celebrating our 34th anniversary with a three-day, three-night mother’s day weekend visit to Victoria. We arrived from the airport by taxi on the Friday evening to a warm reception by Liam Morton, co-owner and proprietor of the Inn. Liam, is a most personable, charming and knowledgeable host who is keen to provide guidance and offer suggestions for dining and sight seeing choices. Having chosen not to rent a vehicle, we got ourselves around Victoria on foot, by transit or taxi throughout our stay. The Villa is centrally located a pleasant 30 minute walk to downtown Victoria along Fort St. Lower Fort St. offers boutique and antique shops to browse through on your way into the old town.
We had not eaten prior to our arrival. Liam directed us to the Ross Bay Pub, a neighbourhood pub at the foot of St Charles St. at Ross Bay. It was exactly as he described. Offering good pub food, at reasonable prices, served by very attentive and friendly staff.

Booking
Booking was done on-line and availability information was accurate. Liam promptly returned our call to confirm booking details.

The room
We booked the Persia, a lovely Victorian style room with a view of the garden and reflecting pool. Most of the flowers were in bloom – it was beautiful! The room had a large walk-in closet with built-in dresser. The bed linens on the king size bed were very high quality as was the mattress. (and we are definitely linen and mattress snobs). The fully equipped en suite bathroom was very large with a sitting area and double Jacuzzi tub that offered a view of the gardens. Separate from the sitting area was the sink, toilet and large walk-in tile shower complete with a hand-held showerhead. There were ample plush bath and hand towels. There were even tea candles and matches provided for us to create a relaxing, romantic atmosphere. We highly recommend this room.

Breakfast
The highlight of each day was the perfectly portioned, five course, gourmet breakfast. Each breakfast consisted of a fruit and yogurt smoothie, fruit cup, warm pastry or muffin, hot egg dish and a “dessert”. Each day was different. Even the charger plates were different colours. All food was prepared in-house, using quality, fresh ingredients. The cuisine appealed to our discriminating pallets. (we’re food snobs too).

Housekeeping
We were immediately struck by the extreme cleanliness of the Villa. it was immaculate, not a speck of dust anywhere!
Each morning, while we were at breakfast, our bed was made and towels left in the tub were replaced. Every evening the bed was turned down and dark and milk chocolates were elegantly presented on a ring pillow in a silver and glass container.

Celebration Package
We purchased the celebration package, which consisted of a dozen roses, gourmet chocolates, made locally in Victoria, and a chilled bottle of very nice semi dry method champignons wine.

Spa
On our anniversary, we pampered ourselves with massages and a pedicure in the penthouse spa Hamaam. The oak trimmed and open beam surroundings were elegant and soothing. The spa also overlooked the garden. Our massage therapists / esthetician, Ricardo and Sandra were a very pleasant and attentive husband & wife team who took very good care of us. The pace was leisurely and the deep tissue massages we had were thorough and exactly what we needed. The pedicure, provided by Sandra, included a soothing foot and calf massage.

We consider our stay an exceptional, shoulder season, value. We highly recommend going to Victoria at this time of year, the weather is pleasant and the flora and fauna are in glorious bloom. Our weekend get-away experience at The Villa Marco Polo ranks among our top three B&B stays across North America, Continental Europe and Australia.

Room Tip: We highly recommend rooms overlooking the garden.
