I've stayed at the Parkside resort twice now, with slightly mixed results but overall the quality of the room beats out any inconvenience.

First stay was in Oct 2012, stayed for an anniversary date with my husband. Front desk clerk was slightly snooty, but not rude or anything. Power went out for over an hour the next morning, for which it would have been nice to have recognition for the inconvenience - I think having the parking charge removed would have been nice, but no offer was made.

Second stay was April 2013 the night before the TC10k race, and my experience was better. Hotel is very close to the starting line for most major Victoria road races, and a significant number of entrants stay at this hotel. Watching the people streaming out of the hotel in spandex (and being one of them!) was very amusing.

Pros: Beautifully appointed, luxury rooms. Top class bedding, full closet, full highboy dresser. Balcony on most rooms! FULL kitchen, full living room with large-screen TV and gas fireplace, couch and armchair. Bedroom can be closed off from the living room. Small dinette table. Amusing view of tower next door - that may be a con for you. :) Excellent location in very safe neighborhood of Victoria. Within walking distance of all major parts of downtown, without being subjected to the noise of the friday night bar scene or the vagrants.

Cons: Parking charge is quite steep at $18/day. Slightly noisy aircon units located just off the central driveway/roundabout. No a/c in the rooms, but Victoria really doesn't get that hot. Staff can be a bit snooty, especially if you present a secondary booking confirmation (hotwire, priceline etc)....

Bottom line: I cancelled another hotel reservation and jumped on a Hotwire booking to get this at only $20 more per night than another local 2.5 star. Whenever I stay overnight in Victoria, I look for the Parkside first, every single time.

Room Tip: Look for reduced rates on Priceline & Hotwire, Parkside sells alot of their rooms this way.

Thank you, Sue, for taking the time to write this review, and for choosing to stay with us on more than one occasion. We are glad to hear you enjoyed waking up in the morning with all of the other racers staying at our property for the TC10k! It's also great to hear that you enjoyed our luxurious, modern suites with fully-equipped kitchens, dining rooms, and living areas -- all of our suites have balconies, as well. It's also great that you enjoyed our convenient downtown location that is within walking distance to all parts of downtown. We so greatly appreciate your sentiment to choose The Parkside first when staying in Victoria -- we look forward to having you back, on hopefully many more occasions.

We stayed here for the September long weekend and paid a premium - $339 per night plus taxes. For this rate, I would expect a 5 star experience.

When we got to our room, we had to call housekeeping since the rug had not been vacuumed. They were there quickly, but it did not leave a good first impression. Overall cleanliness can definitely be improved.

The hotel is located on a very busy intersection, which means a lot of road noise. The weather in Victoria was only between 18 and 20 degrees, but the rooms are HOT! This meant we had to leave the windows open at night and deal with the road noise. I do understand the hotel is striving for LEED Platinum certification, but with being located on a busy street I think air conditioning is a must. We did not sleep well any of the nights we were there and the very lumpy pillows did not help either.

On a positive note, the amenities of the hotel are fantastic namely the pool and movie theatre. But because of the location, hot rooms, and lack of air conditioning, we will not return on future stays to Victoria.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your honest feedback, we value every opinion we receive. We apologize greatly for the negative experience you had regarding the rug in your room, and are glad that our housekeeping team was able to resolve the issue in a timely manner. We are very proud to be targeting LEED Platinum Certification, and of all our environmentally friendly initiatives throughout the property -- such as the Rooftop Gardens which insulate the building during the colder winter months, and our parking spaces with charging stations for electric vehicles. It is great that you enjoyed our 25-metre pool and the nightly movies we play for guests in our private Movie Theatre. Thank you, again, for providing your valuable feedback.

i had a corner suite several floors up (sorry - can't remember which floor, but it was at least 6 or 7 floors up), and had the most wonderful room - or rooms, I should say. There was a full kitchen, living room, separate bedroom with en suite, and there was even a dining room with table and chairs. Two fireplaces and a great view. My wife would have loved it - but I was solo, for business. I will definitely be staying again at the Parkside when I am in Victoria next!

Room Tip: the higher the better

I have stayed at this site several times, the last being for three nights on August 16. Each time I have thoroughly appreciated the " hotel suite" experience. The suites are contemporary, clean, and spacious, with fully equipped kitchens. The bedroom décor and comfort of the beds make the rooms very relaxing and conducive to sleep. The lounge area is excellent for entertaining. I am a swimmer ,so, thoroughly enjoy the pool and hot tub. The front desk staff, especially Jeffry, are most helpful. The location is very central. I do try to stay here whenever I come to Victoria. The only negatives are the in suite washing machines that do not work. Otherwise, a most lovely stay.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a better view.

We just stayed at this hotel on August 21-23. Our experience was wonderful.

The hotel is spacious, well maintained, and quiet. The garden and the big lobby area are very nice and pleasant. The staffs are friendly and helpful. We booked through Expedia for 3 nights, but decided on day 2 to shorten our stay for 1 night. The Expedia website had a bug and did not work properly to modify our itinerary online as it should have. A staff called Expedia for us the make the change, and did not charge us any cost.

The location is very convenient. You get a new and well equipped/maintained suite with a price of a regular hotel room. Parking is easy and convenient.

The laundry machine in our room was broken. The hotel immediately offered complementary laundry during our stay.

Overall, it is an excellent hotel. The price we paid is well worthy. I would like to stay here again next time when I visit Victoria.

Room Tip: A suite hotel that is more than just a regular hotel.

This has to be one of the best resorts that I have stayed in Canada. Paid $209 per night for 3 nights on hotels.com for the luxury room. The room was on the 2nd floor in Tower A, right beside the busy street. Pretty noisy during the day with the windows open. Traffic disappears in the evening. The room was high quality from bedding to the bath tub - 700 sq feet plus balcony. The fitness room was big and lots of different machines. Also, the pool was big. What made this hotel different from other places that I stayed, it had a large home theatre room with 132 inch projection screen tv which show 2 blu ray movies daily. It showed kids movie at 6pm and normal movie at 9pm. I watch blu ray Dark Knight Rises, just like sitting in the theatre but on big leather seats - awesome. The location was great, very short walking distance to harborfront and downtown. $15 to park in a secure underground garage with in/out privilages. Generally, I am not a big fan of paying for parking, but if you are going to pay for it, it better be secure and close to elevators, and it was. I booked this hotel during high season, most hotels in this area were charging close to $200, why not pay a little extra for luxury. Overall, the only bad thing was traffic noise which will affect light sleepers. Also, no AC which did not bother us as the temperature was low 20C (75F) degrees. Otherwise, great location, great facilities, and pretty good value (even with the paid parking). Would definately stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for Tower B - not sure if it is available to rent.

We planned a stay-vaca in B.C. so we decided to go to Victoria. We booked the get away with B.C. Ferry packages and stayed in this beautiful room complete with French doors to the bedroom and all the amenities you will need except food. But if you need any of that it is downstairs or bring it with you so you do not have to shop when you get there so you can eat in or out. The staff was very knowledgable and helpful. We asked for robes to go to the hot tub and pool and within 20 minutes they arrived-warm-yes-warm. All the front desk staff were awesome. We had a room looking out over the atrium. It was a great 3 days-you should consider this your destination if you are going to go to Victoria.
