We recently spent a glorious week at the Elemental Garden Suite. Everything was perfect and beyond our expectations. The suite itself is a masterful blend of sophistication and comfort and the owners have thought of *everything* to make this your castle away from home. Any stress you are carrying from the “real” world will melt away the moment you step through the welcoming garden gate…and find yourself in an oasis beyond compare. Although the temptation is not to leave the sanctuary of the Elemental Suite, within a few short kilometres you can find yourself at any number of local attractions (not the least of which is the organic bakery just up the hill.) We treasure every memory from our stay and can’t wait to visit again next summer!

“A most magical week!”

The suite was more than we could hope for. Very relaxing and peaceful! The welcome wine and card was unexpected. Nightly hot tub soaks took the edge off the daily sightseeing. Our suite had everything we needed to enjoy our week, and then some. Hiking to the lagoon and watching the various birds was an added bonus! I would recommend 100%. Thank you Frank and Angela!

“Birder's Review”

I am a wildlife biologist, and was in town for a bird banding conference/workshop. I arrived late, and had busy, hectic days. Angela came down to say hi to me the night I arrived and even brought me a bottle of wine to unwind! The suite is super cute, comfy, and clean. I appreciated that the kitchen had all the little things you needed in terms of utensils and what not (seran wrap, spices, etc.) The garden is stunning, with lovely lush vegetation and very friendly cats! The hot tub is great and has nice night lighting around it if you're up for a midnight soak! If you step outside, you can hear water running in the forest onto which they face, as well as a myriad of bird songs. I was in and out most of the weekend, but even when rushing around I heard and saw starlings, Stellar's Jays, warblers, hummingbirds, flickers, blackbirds, sparrows, and more. The Esquimalt lagoon is minutes away by car and yielded so much bird life. Off the top of my head, I saw: red-breasted mergansers, a belted kingfisher, double crested cormorants, barn swallows, pintails, wigeons, mallards, buffleheads, mute swans, a trumpeter swan, great blue herons, bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, every gull imaginable to man, canada geese, brants, blackbirds, starlings, and more! This stay was only at the beginning of spring, so you can imagine what's to come!

This was a great place to stay. My only comments would be that this is NOT a transit friendly location. You NEED a rental car or you're going to do a hell of a lot of walking. The only thing that would make the actual suite better was if breakfast was an includable option, especially for those on the go! Angela was very helpful and friendly and I'd stay here again!

Beautifully decorated and appointed one bedroom apartment in a private home. Full-sized and fully equipped kitchen; large living room with large screen satellite tv; large, comfortable bedroom with lots of closets and a hidden washer/dryer; hot tub and bbq in the back yard; free Canada/US phone. Hot tub and bbq in landscaped back yard. Close to seashore; great walking area next door. Hated to leave.

“Perfect peaceful get-away”

Angela and Frank's Garden Suite was perfect! It was exactly as described...but perhaps better. I arrived after a conference and was looking for a quite, peaceful place to write and relax. I was looking for privacy but also for inspiration. This place was perfect. From the moment I entered the peaceful and well-attended garden I knew I was in the right place. The unit had everything I needed for a week and more. The bed was super comfortable!

Maybe the best part though was the location. It's a 10 to 15 minute walk to Esquimalt Lagoon and it's beautiful beach - definitely worth the walk - but there are plenty of other ways to access the ocean that are less than 5 mins walk away. The property also backs onto a bird sanctuary and is a 2 min walk from the stunning grounds of Royal Roads University, where walking / running trails wind through beautiful stands of red and white cedar. The Coastal Collective Art Gallery is also a 2 min walk away with beautiful ocean views and a unique collection of art works by local artists. I dare you not to buy something!

This property is ideal if you have a car but I managed just fine without one. The bus stop is 10 mins away and a local bus took me right into Colwood for groceries, coffee, restaurants, etc. From there I could go into Victoria if I wanted or to bustling Langford, etc.

All in all, this was an excellent choice for me and I would definitely stay there again. Thanks Angela and Frank!

We stayed at the Serene Suite for 3 nights and loved every minute. The suite is highly equipped, everything was well thought of to the very last detail. It is extremely convenient, welcoming, and spotless clean! The location is great and our kids loved the Hot Tub.
Angela provided us with excellent recommendations and made sure we were comfortable and well oriented.
And to top it all the surprising gestures really warmed our heart.
We highly recommend the Serene Suite and will surely come back
