This very original B&B presented a nice change from the carbon copy hotels and motels we encountered on our tour of British Columbia and Alberta. A convienient walk to the center of Victoria, with charming and creative hosts, a relaxing garden to "chill " in, unique rooms, an outstanding breakfast and presentation, and an opportunity to meet fellow sojourners that you would not generally meet in less personal establishments. The Manor was recommended to us by an earlier visitor, and we were pleased that we took her advise

Our stay at Albion Manor was delightful from beginning to end! The hosts treat you like royalty while you lounge in lush furniture and wake up to amazing and nourishing breakfast made fresh by the owner with love. The garden offers space for solitude and reflection or a bottle of wine and take out. They also have a lovely little library. The other owner(the one not cooking) is a fantastic artist and will offer conversation and laughter about any of your curiosities. I highly recommend Albion Manor and look forward to making my way back there soon.

Room Tip: We stayed in Renoir and it was perfect in every way!

Driving up gives you a clue of what you will see inside. The home has an interesting, elaborately happy color scheme with detailing that was carefully thought out. There are lush flower gardens, hanging baskets, winding paths, interesting seating areas, porches, decks, iron gates, mini stream & waterfall, appropriate night lighting, and yes…even grass. Garden accents are tucked here and there, like finding treasures: a gargoyle on the edge of the roof, masks, a hand reaching out, and gorgeous painted Albion Manor urns holding ornamentals. Even the studio and workshop are interesting.

Inside there are wonderfully restored, tiled, mantled fireplaces in almost every room, gorgeous antique, carved wood furniture throughout, jewel- toned oriental rugs, stunningly unique ceramic art created by Fernando, mirrors, paintings, books, an eclectic placement of primitive, renaissance, and simply interesting pieces on the walls, tables…everywhere, a mix of interesting seating in the parlor, a dining room that has a huge table, comfortable chairs, lovely china, and clever crystal thingies to use as knife rests. Do take a peek in the other rooms – each is distinctive.

We stayed in the Oscar Wilde room and it was comfortable, clean, quiet, and easily accessible through a private entrance. It had a private bathroom and sitting room with sofa, table, and TV. Our breakfasts were outstanding beginning with fruit, juice, jam & whipped butter, and bold coffee as starters. One day we had delicious orange French toast & sausages, the next day a huge croissant, pastry cup containing a poached egg with tomato & pesto, and an unusual meat. Both breakfasts were excellent and kept us full until dinner.

Don and Fernando were warm, friendly, and felt more like family. They let us leave our luggage in the morning and then gave us great advice on what to see, where to eat, and what roads to take. We would stay again in a flash!

Yvonne

I had the great pleasure of spending five nights in Don and Fernando's fabulous home while attending a conference at the Laurel Point Inn, just down the street. My first four nights were in their lovely cottage and the last in the voluptuous Reubens room. Don and Fernando are fantastic hosts who pay great attention to detail which is evident from their exquisite art and decor in every room (I took the tour!) to their unbelievable sweet and savoury two-course breakfasts to their lively attention to their guests. Such a vibrant place with plenty of space to sit and enjoy the outside from any room. I hope to go back for a longer stay very soon.

Room Tip: There are only great rooms here-pick the cottage if you like to cook. The mattresses are magical.

This was one best B&B's we've ever enjoyed. Convenient walking distance to downtown and other points of interest in the James Bay area made this an exceptionally good choice, not to mention the charming inn that Fernando and Don have created. The interior is well appointed with antiques and art including many of Fernando's distinctive creations. The breakfasts were exceptional and the personal attention and suggestions were appreciated.

Room Tip: All rooms are great

We don't like B and Bs but Don and Fernando transformed us! The house is over the top with fine antiques and art. The delicious formal breakfast was so elegant! Our room was the most beautiful room that I have ever seen! It was comfortable and private! Our experience was most romantic and just magical!
