We were delightfully surprised and more than pleased that Ashcroft House B&B proved to be a beautiful Heritage home without all the creaks and squeaks in the floors and guest noises from adjacent rooms. Ashcroft house has been nicely renovated to provide quiet and updated comfortable rooms while retaining the period architecture of a very lovely older home. It is well looked after. David and Paulanne are delightful hosts who looked after every detail to make sure our stay was a pleasurable one. Located one block from Mile "0" of the TransCanada Highway and Beacon Hill Park on a cliff overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca makes it a wonderful location. They are also located close to the downtown area. Breakfasts were excellent with lots of variety and the bed was comfortable and cozy with a lovely duvet.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Sheldon room - nicely appointed.

After researching various B&B's in the center of Toronto, we found the Ashcroft House. It had glowing reviews, and helped us to decide to try it for two nights. Our room with en suite was in this charming old home. Cleanliness is a top priority in this B&B, and was evident all the way through. After a quiet night, we were treated to a lovely gourmet breakfast by the owner. The rate, although a bit higher than some other B&B's in the area, is comparable to some of the better downtown hotels. We found it well worth it, and would stay again.

The Ashcroft House is a lovely heritage house in a neighbourhood of similar vintage. Paulanne and David are exemplary hosts and serve up a delectable breakfast. The breakfast is served at 9 a.m. which was late for our plans. Paulanne put together a substantial 'bag' breakfast for us which was very kind of her. The second day of our stay we had time to linger and enjoy the cooked breakfast. I would say, due to the late breakfast time, you should stay here if your schedule is very leisurely and involves going out later than 10:00 or 10:30 a.m. to start your day.

One of the many reasons I love this B&B is that the hosts are so accommodating to people with allergies. I am a vegetarian with several food allergies, and the Ashcroft House accommodated this without hesitation. I was served a generous 4 course breakfast for the 4 days of our stay.
At each breakfast you start with muesli /granola/ yogurt, followed by sliced mixed fresh fruit, then homemade baking (with extra to take with you for the day!), and then a hot meal such as: stuffed French toast with toasted pecans and sautéed apples, or Lemon Belgian waffles topped with fresh blueberries, or scrambled eggs with goat cheese and black bean & spinach salad – just to name a few examples. We were always full well into supper time!
We stayed in the beautiful and spacious Sheldon room with a wonderful king size bed. The bed in this room is so unbelievably comfortable! This room also has two comfortable chairs to lounge and read, or rest your legs. The bathroom is bright and cheery with a large shower, and very clean! This room is also lovely because of its large windows which allow lot’s of light during the day, yet it has substantial curtains to block out light to sleep. We loved this room‼

This is the first b & b I have ever stayed in which I could not fault in ANY way. The rooms were scrupulously clean, the beds comfy and the breakfast was to die for. Paulanne was an excellent host. On our second day, we had to leave really early before breakfast was served. We were given a hamper full of goodies which lasted the four of us for two days!! Fantastic!!!

Room Tip: My friends had a double room "Cotswold" and I had twin bedded room "Canterbury"...

My son, another couple and their son stayed 2 nights at Ashcroft House as part of a visit to the University of Victoria. We could not have chosen a more perfect place! The mansion is lovely and beautifully kept, and located in a very nice residential part of Victoria - right by the ocean and a large park, and a short drive or easy walk to downtown, shopping and restaurants. All the rooms were gorgeous with luxurious beds, clean, modern ensuites, TVs, phones and fast wifi. There's complimentary coffee, tea, bottled water, chocolates and candies, plus a large assortment of DVDs and books available for borrowing, and lots of free street parking out front.

But best of all are the warm and generous hosts, Paulanne and David, and their AMAZING 4-course breakfasts! Not only do they lavish you with extraordinary deliciousness, there's enough to sink a BC ferry! The end of breakfast is always accompanied by ziplock bags so you can haul away the still-warm home-baked goodies to enjoy for the rest of the day. They even have gluten-free baked goods for those avoiding wheat/gluten products. We won't stay anywhere else in Victoria now - hands down the best option in the city. Thanks Paulanne and David for a fabulous stay!

Room Tip: The Wedgewood room is large, bright and pretty with a comfy queen bed. The Sheldon room has a huge k...

This was our second stay at Ashcroft House, previously stayed in 2010. It was just as we remembered, we stayed in the Cotswold room which had an en-suite and a lovely comfy bed. The breakfasts are still an experience with so much to eat that you will not need much more until the evening. Ashcroft House is a short walk from the sea and you can take a pleasant walk to the centre of Victoria via the coastal path. Alternatively you can take the more direct route to the centre. Either way Ashcroft House is ideally situated. Paulanne and David are wonderful hosts, we would definitely recommend this B&B for anyone looking for accommodation in Victoria.
