Pleasantly furnished and in good taste. Hosts take care of all that is required for guests, from needle and thread to hot drinks, cozy towels and help planning the day. Excellent breakfast!!! Excellent location. Strongly recommended.

We had a fantastic stay at the Ashcroft B&B. Like many guests before can likely confirm, there isn't anything bad we can possibly comment upon. We stayed for our 29th anniversary during a trip that we had been planning for years. The Sheldon room was perfect, with a beautiful king size bed, stunning decor and comfy mattress. We feel asleep quickly and slept like babies. The historic home was lovely and along with its splendor, we felt immediately like we were "home". I believe that was from the incredible hospitality from Paulanne and David. They were fantastic, offering their input into our local activities, usually mapping our way. Now, the best for last.......breakfast! WOW!!!! The food was unbelievable! All homemade and delicious, assuming that you could eat it all.....but that's no problem as Paulanne always packaged up the leftover muffins and one of a kind scones (my favourite) so that you could have something to nibble on later in the day while touring Victoria. Very gracious hosts and hands down the best B&B experience we have ever enjoyed.

We had a wonderful stay for our 15th anniversary and first visit to Victoria. I feel very fortunate to have landed at the Ashcroft House. The hosts were very helpful and the Orchid Suite was so comfortable and "complete"... very cozy and quiet, too. It was perfect. The location was great... we could easily walk to the harbor, downtown, grocery store, restaurants, parks... walked most everywhere we wanted to go. Were only a block away from the water and the great walking paths there. Perfect for sunset viewing! But those breakfasts were so yummy and filling... enough to sustain us until dinner. My only complaint is that we never had room for lunch so we missed a lot of great restaurant spots!

Like b&b's and this place is one of the why's. The hosts were excellent for directions, recommendations and service. The 3-course breakfast was great and thank God there are the most beautiful walking(or running) spots one block away. To the left is a beautiful park that is 150 acres or so with paths and beautiful gardens and peacocks and wildlife galore. One block forward is the waterfront that has 2 levels of beauty- upper paved paths very well kept and of course the actual redwood driftwood and rocky/stony beach that extends miles to the downtown. It is outstanding and the full moon didn't hurt either.
The room we had was really a suite w large well appointed bedroom, huge updated bath with a separate shower and jacuzzi tub and to top it off, a small kitchen with nice dishes and small appliances. The kitchen is off the bedroom so if one of you is an early bird, you won't disturb the other while tapping out a review and having coffee. Was perfect.
As an aside, the comfortable common area downstairs has tasteful period furniture, newspaper, travel guides and they even have a good DVD selection for borrowing. We had Wi-fi, nice flat screen with DVD player. Note we didn't have time for all this but it's there- they've been at this and know their stuff, thanks

With friends from Australia, we stayed here for two nights in early September. Our rooms, the Sheldon and Wedgewood were spectacular, to say the least. A lot of older/historic homes have very small rooms, but not these ones. They were both huge, especially the Sheldon which had an incredible king size bed and an unbelievablely comfortable mattress. It felt like sleeping on a cloud. Our rooms were absolutely spotless and the house was nothing but quiet throughout the night.
The location of Ashcroft house could also not be beat...close enough to Dallas road to have a good walk whenever you wanted, close enough to walk to the inner harbour/downtown area and also Beacon Hill park a stones throw away.
Both days our breakfasts were amazing...good food and lots of it. Home baked goodies (two kinds each day) that were so good that I wanted the recipes...especially for the lemon scones.
Paulanne also provides you with a 'baggy' so that you can take away the baking that you couldn't eat at breakfast to enjoy during the day. We are confirmed bed and breakfasters and this is the first time we have encountered this, and it was a lovely treat to have.
Because the men were hearty egg breakfast eaters, Paulanne and David were flexible enough to accommodate us with an egg dish each morning. On the second day it was an egg dish that was fantastic, made individually, and I am not sure quite what to call it except delicious down to the last bite.
Paulanne and David were very helpful and available hosts.
If you are looking for a place to stay in Victoria, you just can't beat Ashcroft House for location/quietness/cleanliness/breakfasts and wonderful hosts.

Room Tip: Sheldon room has a fantastic king size bed and the actual room is huge, giving lots of room to move...

Beautiful setting on hill near Holland point park. Overall fantastic accommodations. Classic room. Comfortable bed. There were other guests in the living room on the night we arrived, and we appreciated the double doors between our room and the common area -- no sound penetration !

The innkeepers were so helpful and friendly. Each day they would ask us what we had planned and make sure we had the maps and directions to make our day easier. The rooms were very pretty and comfortable. I am a clean freak and this place met my standards. The breakfasts were great!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only could I eat safely, Pauline made homemade gluten free breads and muffins. She understands the diet. I She even packed up the left overs for a snack. She even made buckwheat waffles for breakfast one morning so I ate what everyone else did. The house is about a 15 minutes walk to town down pretty streets. It was a nice stroll on a full stomach.
