We stayed here for 4 nights in June, 2014 and few years back as well. It was a nice and new-ish campground for big rigs. You need to pay for showers though. Make sure you bring loonies for the shower. They don't take quarters. Campsites are little tight together, but luckily there are some small trees in between sites for privacy.
We found out that the site was closed to a low security prison. We were a little worry at first, because there was a prison escape last year. But everything was fine during our stay. (I guess prisoners don't escape everyday.) Aside from the fact that it's located close to a low security institution, it's a nice place to stay. Staff are mostly friendly, except the older lady at front desk.
Internet wi-fi is available but very weak. During the evening, it's almost impossible to have any wi-fi signals. No cell coverage neither. Can't run 3G.
Location-wise, it's convenient enough for us. A 10 minutes drive to grocery, half hour to Sooke. The setting was nice with view of the bay.
