As hostels go this fits the bill. It in walking distance to all you would want to see in the city. It has a reasonably well equiped kitchen, is in a quite enough location, and at CAD $55 a night represents good value. There are a few parking slots in the front yard of the property and if available these can be had for $5 per day. Otherwise its parking on the street and moving it before 8ish am. Suzi the landlady is very helpful and runs a tight ship from a business point of view. The hostel itself is a little tired but this is honestly reflected in the price. Victoria itself is a great little city. Very historic and 'colonial' in its feel. Reminded me of Auckland NZ. Whale watching has a bit of a 'must do' feel about it, but we did it and saw a big pod of Orca's personally I enjoyed the blast in the speed but out there more but seeing the whales was quite coll. At $80 dollars its not cheap. Riding the Galloping Goose trail was fun but be warned leaving Victoria for Snooke is uphill (gentle) and after 1.5 hrs we decided to head back and the return only took 45mins with an ice cream stop! Great city and hope I return someday.
