I stayed at the Prestige in Vernon for two non-consecutive nights when I was visiting family in Vernon. I have to say that it was a disappointment, given the rate they charge. With taxes all on, the nightly rate was close to $200. Don't get me wrong, there a lot of positives to this hotel - it is close to town, the rooms are very spacious and modern, and the hotel restaurant is very, very good. My issue just came down to service. On my second night there my air con unit was acting up and I asked to switch rooms. This seemed to be a huge issue but front desk finally agreed and came up to show me to new room. Unfortunately, the air con unit in the new room did not work at all. The front desk response was "sorry ma'am not much I can do - best you go back to old room". I asked if he could look into another room for me and he said he would. I waited an hour and no phone call. Nothing. I called back down and said that there were no other comparable rooms available. I asked if I could just get a different room even if it was not the same type given the air con unit issues and it's 38 degrees outside. He refused. It was very poor. I understand if it was fully booked but it was after the long weekend and barely any cars in parking lot compared to long weekend. In addition, the fitness room was poorly maintained. I brought all this up on my check out and the front desk clerk was sympathetic and I could see the "manager" walking back and forth behind her as I complained but he really couldn't be bothered to come up and say anything to me. Poor mgmt.
The next night I decided to stay at the holiday inn. For 30 dollars cheaper this is a far superior hotel. So while the Prestige is ok and the rooms are good (if air con working) I suggest the holiday in for the cheaper price. $200 is a lot to pay for a room and one would just expect that little. It of extra service to go along with it,
