“Silver Star Fun”

Silver Star Provincial Park
Ranked #7 of 55 things to do in Vernon
Attraction details
Reviewed 6 June 2014

I've been fortunate enough to have been raised in Vernon BC. Used Silver Star Provincial Park many times over since I was just a kid. So much to do, from hiking, log distance skiing to snowmobiling. Of course Silver Star Mountain and Ski Resort is a part of this overall outdoor experience. Started my skiing experience at Silver Star since I was 10 yrs old. I love everything about the Okanagan and would highly recommend it.

Sovereign Lake Nordic Ski Club and the Armstrong Snowmobile Club operate in Silver Star Provincial Park. The resort area, a few minutes drive above the park, was removed from the provincial park in the early 1990's.
Choose Silver Star Mountain Resort as a destination to get the right reviews for the resort. This should also be included as a Vernon area attraction.

Silver Star Provincial Park is easily accessible to Vernon, but you truly feel you are in the woods. I've visited most often in the winter to nordic ski at Sovereign Lake Nordic park. This is an excellent facility, affordable for families and operated with alot of volunteers as well as a dedicated full-time staff.

The views from this resort are spectacular and there are some gorgeous homes that are painted in very bright colours. The pubs and stores are plentiful and you can walk for miles. It sits about 6380 feet above sea level and the drive up is quite beautiful. You will want to stop a lot for pictures as there are many sites to pull over. We went up the first of October and encountered a bit of snow so beware it gets cold up there. Very much worth the half hour drive up the mountain from Vernon BC.

Excellent all around ski and summer hiking and mountain biking venue. Winter all in one mountain pass is excellent value including alpine and Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and skating. Local Mecca for downhill mountain biking supported by lift facilities. 25 minutes from downtown Vernon via a well-maintained year round road.
