We have just spent a week at Evolution: really good accommodation. We requested a hillside view, and got apartment room 401 which is on a back internal corner and overlooks the pool sauna area, as well as facing trees. Reception is at the next-along apartment block, Legends; the staff there were just excellent. Our apartment was very quiet except for poolside carousing at 2am on New Years morning. Good basic modern kitchen with dishwasher, dining/living area, and 2 good bedrooms - very comfortable double beds - each with big ensuite bathrooms, deep tubs and good powerful shower cubicles, but best of all the heated floor- great for drying gloves etc. Small laundry room with separate top-loading (quick) washing maching and tumble dryer, and powder is provided, so you don't need to pack a lot of clothes: unfortunately we did, and found that the storage in the bedrooms wasn't adequate. The only other quibble was the lighting; the bedroom lights weren't bright enough, as there isn't a main ceiling light. There was a big wrap-around balcony with table. Daily housekeeping of somewhat variable quality. Parking cost $15 per day (plus tax... we found this very frustrating in Canada, in that advertised costs never include the extra tax% ) in the warm basement, and driving was easy. Evolution is modern, obviously fairly new, with great extra facilities: tiny cinema, games room, good gymn, and fantastic hot tubs x 2, with a chilly "heated" pool as well...there's nothing like sitting in a hot tub during a blizzard. Ski lockers are provided. As for the area: Creekside is tiny compared to Whistler Village, but has charm nonetheless. There are bars, shops, skischool office, ski hire, restaurants (we tried Creekbread Pizza, Doc Brannigans, the Southside Diner and Boston Pizza takeaway) and a (v expensive) supermarket all just a minute or two's walk from Evolution...but then everything is expensive in Whistler. Waking from Evolution to the Creekside Gondola, which shoots up Whistler mountain, takes about 3 minutes. We took skiing lessons and found it much better ( for our level) to ski down to Whistler village rather than attempt the steeper ski down to Creekside: consequently we drove into Whistler Village at 8.30 each day: this takes around 10 mins drive: (definitely not walkable in winter,) which made us wonder if intermediate-level skiers such as us would be better staying in Whistler Village instead.
