“Leave us a room!”
Reviewed 12 April 2011

We travel a lot and usually don't leave reviews, but want to as a thank you to the staff whose service was again so exceptional. We love Whistler and have gone every year from Sydney for the last 10. We've also stayed at the Westin, Fairmont, and Hilton before, and now after our 7th stay at the Pan Pac can assuredly say we'll be back there. (This review is for the Pan Pac Mountainside not the one in central village)

We recently had some changes to make to our booking and this was handled most professionally by the management team. We love a place that is customer service focussed on looking after repeat guests, not governed by inflexible rules. Well done.

Echo all the other comments, great position next to the lifts, great big suites, great pool deck and hot tubs, and wonderful staff. Nothing is ever too hard to organise whether it be more hangars (brought immediately with a smile) or a free ride in their big 4WD to anywhere in town. So central to all that's happening in the village too. 15 restaurants within a couple of minutes walk and the fun Irish pub (which is great fun) on the ground floor that also serves decent pub meals. Also the Salomon rental shop in the building. As an all suite hotel the Pan Pac has no Hotel Lounge area as such with a bar etc, but our favourite for that is definitely the Fairmont that has by far the best lounge in Whistler. Again a lovely few minutes walk away through the forest.

It's definitely worth the extra dollars to stay at the Pan Pac. Not a bad word to say. Do yourself a favour and stay there but make sure you leave us a room.

Thanks for another wonderful holiday. We'll be back next year.

Pan Pacific Mountainside is right next to the Blackcomb Gondola and a minute from the Whistler gondola, so it is extremely convenient.
The room was very comfortable. We had a two bedroom valley view room. Albeit it was cheaper not having a view of the mountains, the view was still lovely.
The staff were helpful and friendly, which is to be expected at a hotel of this level.
The hotel doesn't have its own restaurant, although there is an Irish pub in the building for breakfast. We went here for the first couple of days but ultimately found that the place across the road (the name of which escapes me) had a better variety and was cheaper.
Whistler village has a huge variety of restaurants, so you'll never want for a good meal.
There are two hot tubs and a heater pool outside. It is a great place to soak after a day of skiing and watch the late comers come down the mountain. You have to be prepared to be friendly, however, because they get crowded. If you think you're going to get a tub to yourself, think again.
There is a storage area for equipment, with lockers. For our two bedroom (5 people) we had one locker, and could only just fit skis and boards in. All boots had to go up to the room.
There is a ski rental place in the building. I checked out their gear and was happy with the quality. I then logged on to the free wi-fi and ordered on line, which gives a discount. The staff told me to do this, so hooray. Plus they allowed me to change skis when conditions changed - this was great because it was a bit icy early on and then we got powder.
Overall, this is a well located hotel with good facilities. I think its quality is at the expected level rather than being an outstanding example. Basically, you will select this hotel for location.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite overlooking the mountain. Plenty of space and very well equipped and good maid service. We had a problem with the heating on our first night and it was fixed promptly and worked extremely well thereafter. The shuttle service to restaurants was a bonus. While you are paying for the location it is worthwhile. The Dubh Linn is the only restaurant and this is designed to cater for the mountain users and would not be described as fine dining but is adequate. The downstairs part of the hotel is mainly taken up with stores and there is very little quiet lounge space but most of the hotels are like that in Whistler.

This is our 3rd visit to this hotel and it's perfect for a stay in whistler. The location by the gondolas is great and the room set up is perfect for a family of four. I'm sure the chateau and 4 seasons are the more upmarket choices but I'm not sure you can beat the pan pacific overall. The service is very good and this year we my wife broke her arm and the valet spent a lot of time ferrying us around - nothing was too much trouble. Free wi fi and ski storage round it off.

This is our second stay at the Pan Pacific Mountainside. The location cannot be beat. You are just a couple hundred feet to either gondola. The rooms are nice and the kicthen makes it nice to eat in once in a while. The staff is very helpful.

We had over a 100 inches of snow when we were there. It made for some great skiing. The only draw back was we had a mountainside room and the tractors started clearing snow around 4 a.m. So you don't need an alarm clock if it is snowing.

The dining in Whistler village is really good with lots of choices. It can get expensive if you plan to eat out all of your meals. There is a small grocery store about 2 blocks away and the liquor store is next to that.

The best location in Whistler if you want to be close to the activity. You can watch the Fire and Ice show from the pool or jacuzzi.

The hotel is superbly located - base of both mountains. The staff are very friendly, eager to help, knowledgeable and resourceful.

The Dubhlin Gate Pub has unbelievable food - it is clearly Whistler's best kept secret because the food is well beyond "pub" food by a long shot.

The Pan Pacific Mountainside hotel was the nicest hotel we have ever been to in Whistler. everything is easily accessible. You are near to all the breakfast restaurants and you are right next to the gondolas so there is no walk. Also you can store your skiis in there aswell which is very handy.

The rooms themselves are very nice with a fireplace, TV, air conditioning (only if you need it), kitchen and bathrooms. They are very cosy and comfortable and (if you are on the right side) have a view of the Lower Olympic run so you can watch the other skiers as they finish their day.

Overall a very comfortable hotel with excellent facilities, recommended.
