We stayed at the Chateau for my husband’s 40th birthday this past weekend. It was a busy weekend being Presidents Day long weekend in the US. While the hotel was bustling, check-in was fast and friendly. Our room was clean and huge; plenty big enough for us and our equipment. They have a kuerig for in-room coffee and real milk (not the powder crap at other hotels) which was a godsend as we had to be up at the crack of dawn for fresh tracks. The location is perfect at the base of Blackcomb…ski-in, ski-out. Only a short walk to Whistler Village, or you can get their complimentary shuttle. Don't miss out on the pre-dinner drinks in the lobby bar. They make a mean martini!

Just returned from Chateau Whistler on the gold floor room. On the positive side, we had a lovely 9th floor room and great service, especially from Daniel, Tiffany, Lauren and Ian. Great ski and leisure facilities - with tons of snow - and everything you would expect from a large famous hotel. However, I need to point out three very big negative issues for our group that would make us consider very carefully whether we would return to this hotel over other options. One, whilst the gold lounge is lovely, it was very overcrowded at breakfast and hideously overrun by unruly children and parents unable to control them. Second - and third - in a similar vein, the hot tubs were overrun at tea time again by kids and parents unprepared to stop them throwing lumps of ice into the water or jumping in from the side. Also the bar area was again overcrowded each evening with kids running wild. Throughout all this, the hotel seemed powerless to do anything. From my perspective, the exec lounge, bar and hot tubs should be areas of adult relax and fun, but this is far from the case at the Chateau. I am not against kids, but I think the hotel needs to find a way of keeping everyone happy in large enough areas or with time restrictions ie no kids in bar after 9 etc. But last week it felt like we were staying at a Disney or Nicolodeon hotel, not a 4/5 star Fairmont.

This is a very popular hotel and as a result it is an extremely busy property. I stayed at the Hotel over the President's Day long weekend which corresponded with Ontario Family Day so the hotel was packed with traveling guests. To say the hotel was a madhouse was an understatement and clearly the hotel was nowhere near prepared for the onslaught of activity. The front desk could not cope with the flood of arriving guests and given their obvious lack of experience they were unable to manage the situation as guest after guest had problems with their reservations. I blame hotel management for staffing with young inexperienced trainees who were unable to manage this difficult situation. Never was there any sight of hotel leadership during a period that had to be among the busiest of the year. Twice I had to return to the front desk as front desk staff incorrectly programed my room keys.To make matters worse the hotel shuttle never appeared after skiing at Whistler Mountain and stranded hotel guests had to be rescued by the shuttle driver from The Four Seasons Resort. Quite good advertising for the rival hotel. Despite all this The Fairmont is a nice property and staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. Hotel staff that greeted your car upon arrival were extremely courteous as was the concierge. It's big bucks to stay at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler so avoid the busy periods and you should be fine.

Room Tip: Rooms on a higher floor are preferable.

We've stayed here numerous times before and I have never been disappointed.
I booked for valentines in September to be sure we got a room, as they always sell out at this time of year.

I requested a king size bed. When we arrived our room had 2 queens, so I called down to let them know. We then had to wait over 2 hours before they switched us into a king.
The new room, had sticky carpets and smelled like air freshener (as if they were hiding something), it also had a big stain on the floor.I felt that for this inconvenience we should have been given a discount or at least something..

I was really disappointed as I purposely booked well in advance to avoid any let downs. I feel like they kind of just shoved us in any room that was left over. For the $385/night this shouldn't be the case, and everything should be perfect.

As always the hot tub and sauna's were lovely, this hotel is really a nice place to relax.

The hotel should really make sure that things are perfect for people since it is a 5 star resort and people are paying a pretty penny to be here. I feel I may re-think where to spend out next visit to Whistler...

Stayed 10 nights at the Fairmont Whistler - all I can say is excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was first class although not enough drawers to put clothes in. The spa/gym were also excellent. This hotel is definitely ski in/out and the way staff handle your ski kit whether coming or going was a nice touch. Will definitely book again.

Room Tip: Room 304 was perfect !!

We stayed at the Chateau for 10 days and had a lovely time, from checking in to leaving the service was exceptional. We were upgraded to a deluxe slope side room, the room was spacious with lovely views over the slopes and down over the pool, we were on the 4th floor and despite it being a public holiday we were not disturbed by the noise from the pool area at night. The room was cleaned to an excellent standard and chocolates and bottled water was left in our room each night which was a nice touch. The Mallard bar had a nice ambience but as expected was on the more expensive side, we ate lunch on our last day and the food was wonderful. We managed to secure a late check out at no extra cost. The only downside to the stay was the fact that we went during a public holiday and similar to a previous review did find the pool/hot tub area & Bar area very busy during this weekend (children were playing in the lap only pool which disrupted anyone trying to swim laps) which meant these general areas were not very relaxing, perhaps only allowing children into the pool area before a certain time at busy times would have been an option.
