“Convenient and Comfortable Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 February 2013

We had an upper floor one bedroom facing the forest. I believe the rooms are individually owned like condominium units. In general the hotel is kept up well, and it has the most convenient location at the base of black-comb.

Our particular unit had a high-end stereo with Monitor Audio speakers, HDTV and lots of channels which we enjoyed during breakfast. Proper hot water and pressure, nice pool and jacuzzi.

Details:
Room: Clean
Kitchen: adequately equipped. Nearly 10 corkscrews :)
Bath: Clean and updated, high-end hardware
Beds: comfortable mattress and clean sheets.
Noise: Even though it's right at the base, the place is pretty quiet.

Trivia: One of the fastest elevators I've been in. More time for skiing.

Complaints:
Stay was too short.

Let's start with the bottom line: this is a great value. Notice, we were in unit 213.

- great location right next to the Wizzard chair off Blackcomb side. True ski IN-ski OUT.
- clean unit, modern (recently renovated?)
- one BD unit for 960$ for 4 nights.

But...
Would have appreciated a more functional fold-out sofa in the living area. Should be replaced. Period. Probably why they propose to rent a cot if a second bed is needed. (eg traveling with ski buddy)

Found it surprising to find so little storing areas for coats and boots. An irritant.

Although labelled "Full Kitchen", it is a European style size kitchen. No cooking of a turkey in this extra small oven !! Actually, forget the use if the oven all together. It's probable less than 2 sq. ft. in volume. Also, never found the switch for the stovetop fan. :-(

Would definitely expect a boot dryer when renting a unit in Whistker --any place actually. Only place I've seen this so far was in a condo at LeMassif near Qc City. Great idea.

Finally, don't expect too much room to eat in. This unit is too small to have a table and chairs. Only has a counter and stool, in line facing... the kitchen cupboards.

To note nevertheless, the staff was very nice and derivable, generous of advices and suggestions for rest is and getting around. The procedure to access the unity when arriving late is simple and effective. Having parking (15$/night) is also a plus.

So...
Overall, a great value, but I will not come back as my needs haven't quite been filled. Hopefully this will help you judge if yours will.

Good skiing!

I booked a 3 day ski trip for me and my son i am in montreal and he goes to school in B.C and had to cancel last minute .I was very disappointed and was even more, when the hotel would not give me a refund ,i realize that they could have kept the first night stay and refund the other 2 night but Le Chamois said no ! I asked for a credit for a later date Le Chamois said no! They said they would try to rent it and if they did i would get a refund but only for 2 nights , How would i know if they rented it and if they rented it i would only get 2 day refund ...Not very honest , I got a credit for my air travel no problem but Le Chamois said no! So becareful money is hard to come by, these day but not for the chamois 500.00 dollars and they did nothing , i will stay somewhere else in the future. So to Le chamois i say NO!

My family of 4 stayed at the Le Chamois in December 2012. It's a great hotel that is really steps from the lift. The check in was smooth - the rooms have been recently renovated. There is a partial kitchen so it's quite convenient for us especially when you have kids - that microwave and refrigerator is almost a must! We really loved that we can walk down from the room, pick up our gear from the ski shop (you rent there and they store is for you overnight for free), and just head to the lift. Dirk and Bernie's downstairs, a cafe, has the best breakfast you can ever imagine. That brown bread is just heaven! We really enjoyed our stay at the Le Chamois... will go back again!

We wanted to start off our Canadian adventure in an ideal location with also decent luxury, We know we weren't staying in a fully serviced hotel, but it almost is anyway, Walked into the center of town most days as it's really close to anything. Perfect start to our holiday, thanks Le Chamois! Parking underground for our vehicle was greatly needed too, well worth the small cost!

Our family (parents and 10/8 yrs olds) stayed at Le Chamois for 8 days over New Year, and found it wonderful. The location was perfect for us - we left our skis downstairs, and the kids could walk over to ski school (50m away) at the bottom of the lifts. The room was modern with a comfortable/ large bed and bath in the bedroom, and the living room couch folded out for our children to sleep on. Having a kitchen is a must for us, though Milestones just across the square was a family favourite for quality and value. We wouldnt consider anywhere else if we were heading back to Whistler.

Le Chamois is as close as you could wish for to Blackcomb base. The accomodation is very comfortable and spacious. Even though is has a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster some facilities would have been handy since it is not enough to stay in and cook a meal. There is some restaurants close by but the majority is in the Whistler resort centre is only a short walk or bus ride away. Next time I visit Whistler I would stay here again!
