“Pleasantly Surprised.”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

We just got back from 2 nights in Whistler at the Crystal Lodge. I was familiar with the hotel, having previously stayed in a hotel across the street from the Crystal Lodge. I purchased an online coupon a few months back, and had to use it up soon or forfeit it.
Although we were 'upsold' on the room when I booked, the additional space was quite reasonably priced and made our stay that much more enjoyable. The additional cost to bring our dog along ($20/night) was money well spent.
The hotel is not readily obvious from the pedestrian walk in front- the street front is standard shops and restaurants- but once inside it is a comfortable space without being flashy or pretentious. The staff we encountered were all friendly and helpful. Our room was large and comfortable with a kitchenette and sofabed- very comfortable for the 3 of us and our dog.
Location is a big selling point- an easy walk through the pedestrian friendly town and a block away from the base of the Whistler gondola.
We were sufficiently impressed that we booked our return stay in January when we checked out. I highly recommend this place!!

I booked this hotel through the whistlerblackcomb website and was pleasantly impressed with the high levels of service and attentiveness of all staff members. This was my first ski trip of the 2014 season and I stayed for 2 nights. The room was spotless, modern, quiet and a great location to the gondolas to get your ski day going. I highly recommend this hotel to stay at when planning your next stay - I know I'll be back!

Room Tip: Village walk rooms have a balcony that overlook the village allowing for a beautiful view.

Great rates (November) and the staff and housekeeping was very welcoming to our doberman. Nice and close to Starbucks for 6am dog walks with coffee. The lounge was fun, good french onion soup and great bar staff. The only downer, thin walls between rooms, bring ear plugs. Can't really beat the location.

I am pleased that you and your Doberman enjoyed your experience at the Crystal Lodge. I hope that on your morning walks you were able to find the Valley Trail as it is about a minutes walk from our front door and a perfect dog walking trail. As a dog owner myself, do not hesitate to reach out to me when you are planning on coming back to Whistler for some local tips on where to take your four-legged family member (ilowe@crystal-lodge.com). We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back to the hotel in the future.

We stayed here for 5 nights in mid October. The hotel was fairly quiet as it was low season and we were asked if we wanted to upgrade to a larger room. The Front Desk staff showed us the room before we made the decision but when we saw the larger room we felt the small extra charge was totally worth it. We had a huge room with loads of cupboard space, super king bed as well as a sofa which could turn into a bed. It felt very spacious. We also had a balcony over looking the street so could watch the world go by.
They don't do breakfast but there is a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and kettle and the well stocked supermarket is just across the road so we bought everything we needed for the mornings. Also plenty of cutlery and crockery so it's very convenient.
We opted not to have our room made up a couple of times - just made the bed ourselves and washed a couple of plates and mugs. If you do this, they give $5 to an eco charity which is a really nice touch. That said, when I told the housekeeping staff they needn't come in, they were anxious to make sure we had enough coffee, shampoo etc.
Front desk were really helpful - little touches like Joanna calling us half an hour or so after we'd checked in to make sure that we had everything we needed and the room was okay.
We had a great stay and I'd definitely choose Crystal Lodge again.

Got into Whistler at dusk after a drive up from Victoria.
Checked into the lodge which had ample parking underneath which was handy having lifts which serviced all floors. Got into the room which was small but adequate for one night and fancied a coffee. On opening the fridge in our room found a container which had a half eaten cheesecake in it from the previous guests in that room. Seriously disappointed. The saving grace for this room was that it did have a balcony overlooking the pool. We didn't spend masses of time in the room thereafter. Certain there is better in Creeklands and Creekside.

I am sorry to hear about this experience in your guest room however thank you for bringing the issue to our attention as it provides us with a valuable learning opportunity. I have discussed your experience with our housekeeping manager and rooms inspectors to ensure that we have policies in place that this cannot happen to future guests.

I have been to Whistler many times, often stay in higher end hotels, and haven't always been pleased with value for money spent. This time I took a chance using Whistler.com 'Suite Secrets' option to find a hotel with a lower price tag. I enjoy a larger room so booked a deluxe loft suite for $137 per night in early November. This booking gave me a reservation at the Crystal Lodge. This hotel was a very pleasant surprise! Excellent location in the village, close to everything. The room was very spacious, with over 800 sq feet, including a bed in the loft above (two twins pushed together to make a king), sofa bed below, large living area, kitchen, and two full bathrooms. Very clean and well maintained. As their website indicates that not all rooms have fireplaces, I called the hotel, spoke to Rachel in reservations and requested one, as I was celebrating my girlfriend's birthday. She kindly accommodated my request, and upon arrival in the room, there was a surprise birthday card and small box of Rocky Mountain chocolates awaiting the birthday girl. Combined with the Starbucks and Martini Bar connecting to the lobby, a good start to a wonderful romantic weekend :) This suite would also be good for a family or a group of friends. If two couples wish to share the room, be aware that the loft is open to the main floor below, so privacy could be a concern. This room would certainly cost considerably more during peak season, but so would other hotels. Underground parking is $22 per night, on par with other hotels. Early November isn't the best time to go to Whistler, as most summer activities have stopped, and the slopes don't open up until month end. Was also surprised to see the number of restaurants that were closed for several weeks at this time. The Village was pretty empty compared to peak season, but this meant no lineups for anything and quick service in restaurants and stores. Overall, I would highly recommend the Crystal Lodge for a great stay at a comparatively reasonable price.

Room Tip: If you are booking a loft suite, request one with a fireplace.

The location of this hotel couldn't be better- right in the centre of town, near the gondola and the chairlifts up onto Blackcomb Mountain, restaurants and shops next door- it's perfect.
The rooms themselves are spacious, clean and very comfortable, this hotel was really the highlight of our holiday in Whistler. There is no noise from the village stroll detectable in the higher rooms, so they are very quiet, however the walls are a little thin and noise from neighbouring apartments can be heard from time to time.

Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and very ready to recommend great places to eat and spend your time in the village. Hotel is also dog friendly, so bringing a family pet is not a problem. This initially made me a little uneasy as to how clean our room would be pet-fur wise, however it was spotless and not a hair detected.
Would definitely stay here again in my next trip to Whistler.

Room Tip: Choose a room on a higher floor for a quieter nights sleep.
