If you are looking for simply a pet friendly place to sleep then this is fine, but don't expect any "frills," and by that I mean the most basic of amenities, even the ones they boast about in their advertising.
For starters, the faucet literally fell off of the kitchen sink the first time we touched it. We called downstairs and advised the front desk, and they told us maintenance would be by the following day to take care of it. No one ever came.
Housekeeping didn't come once in our 3 day stay. This meant running out of soap, shampoo, towels, coffee packets (a whole other story...) etc...the lobby was happy to provide them when we asked, but that's not the point.
Lastly, the fancy coffee machine in the lobby they are so proud of, it's only open between 7-9am, so no sleeping in you guys! On top of that, I went down one morning at 8am - I was going to get my wife a mochachino, her favourite. It was her birthday and she was sleeping in. Well, I get downstairs and the machine isn't even turned on, and its in plain view of the front desk, with a giant closed sign on it. I ask the front desk if its broken and she tells me no it's just not turned on and she'll call someone to do it. Eventually someone does, but the machine takes 40 minutes or so to heat up.I don't get it, if the machine is open between 7-9, and it takes so long to heat up, wouldn't you get it started around 6am? Anyway, I gave up, went next door and spent the $12.50 for a couple coffees - they were good, Mount Curee Coffee Co. - I recommend them, not Summit Lodge.

Please allow me to apologize for the mistakes we made during your stay. I am sorry to hear that neither housekeeping and maintenance attended to your needs. I will pass this on to both department heads.

Please know that our coffee machine is back up and running now and is on all day. We hope that you return so we can change your opinion of us!

Regards,

The Summit Lodge and Spa was a great choice we made in selecting where to stay in Whistler. The in room kitchenette allows you to save money from dining at the high end restaurants in the area by going across the street to the grocery store. The staff were very friendly and helpful for ideas of what to do while we stayed.

The reason behind the 4 rating is from the last day we stayed there, the fire alarm went off around 8AM and woke us up. Housekeeping was very fast at reacting to it, getting everyone outside. It was a terrible way to wake up, and it was from someone doing construction right around a smoke detector. A simple mistake, but we would definitely choose to stay at the Summit next time we're in Whistler.

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms by the elevators. Too much traffic by the elevators means too much noise

I have nothing but positive comments about the Summit Lodge and Spa in Whistler Village. This was a last minute and therefore mystery hotel booking for me and I had no idea what to expect, except that we would be in the village and close to all amenities. When we arrived for our three-day stay, the front desk staff greeted us enthusiastically and upgraded our room to perfect corner suite on the top floor of the hotel. Any worries we had about noise were dispelled on our first night. Even though we slept with the balcony doors open, it was a peaceful night. This is a dog-friendly hotel and we met plenty of well-behaved canines in the elevators. The walls of the lobby are filled with paintings by local artists, all for sale and the free coffee service allowed us lots of time to check out the art. The Summit Lodge provides bicycles to all guests and our bike shop guy, Mark went out of his way to fit our bikes and give us great directions of the best Whistler bike paths. Newspapers are not left outside the doors, but there are plenty in the lobby for everyone to read. Next time we go, I'd like to check out the Javanese spa. The hotel has a great outdoor space with a barbecue, a hot tub and pool; an ideal place to unwind after a day of activity at Whistler. I'll go back for sure!

Room Tip: We were offered an upgrade to a corner suite with two small balconies and a kitchenette. The room wa...

The Summit Lodge is in a great location and the staff was always courteous, helpful, and personable. ("Thanks Andrea,Emile. and Housekeeping") We chose to upgrade to a one bedroom suite on the 3rd. floor overlooking Village Park, which gave us total quiet and privacy, as if we were nestled in the forest. The room and kitchenette were very clean and the bed linen was crisp, plush and inviting. We loved having the fireplace on during our visit, which was Whistler's first and ample snowfall of the season. Pretty darn magical.

One minor issue would be the low wattage/high efficiency lighting throughout the room, especially the bedside lamps. We had trouble reading our books without straining, but then our eyes were pretty heavy anyway from the mountain air. Good night.

Room Tip: Overlooking the pool deck would probably provide the quietest and most private exposure.

This was our first time in Whistler and we loved the place and the Summit hotel. We stayed for 2 nights before spending a week in Vancouver and decided straight away that we would go back after Vancouver for another 3 nights! The room was lovely and cosy with all the amenities we could want, loved the fire and the view from our balcony. The staff were very pleasant and the room was clean and very comfortable. The hotel is really close to the shops and bars and the 'Village Stroll'. With a Market Place supermarket just around the corner, not to mention a couple of BC Liquor Stores selling the most awesome beers, we were in heaven!! There are plenty of restaurants around but it is also easy to prepare food in the room as there are kitchen facilities including crockery and cutlery.
We were delighted on our return to the hotel to be recognised as returning guests and given a complimentary upgrade to a king suite - fabulous service! Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

We live in Vancouver and travel to Whistler a lot but, in all of our travels, never came across the Summit Lodge. We required a place that was dog-friendly on this trip and the Summit came through in spades. Our room was great, the location couldn't be better, and the whole process of taking our dog with us was very easy. We will definitely stay here again.
