“Really nice hotel - comfortable and great staff”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

We had a really good stay at the Summit Lodge. Our room was large with a comfortable bed and all the facilities that you could need. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Location was OK, but was a 10 minute walk from the ski lifts, although the hotel provided a free shuttle and there is the town shuttle that runs very close by.

All in all, a great place to stay in Whistler.

This is my fifth time to Canada for a snowboarding holiday, but my first time to Whistler. We booked the Summit hotel for 2 weeks through an Inghams package holiday.

We had booked a deluxe studio room. It was a pretty big room with a queen sized bed. There was a small kitchen which had a toaster, kettle, sink, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, and mini hob. The cupboards and drawers were full of plates, bowls, cups and cutlery. Also in the room was a small dining table with 4 chairs. There was a flat screen TV, a couch, 2 bedside tables and a wardrobe.
The bathroom contained a bath with a shower over it, sink and toilet, and was a reasonable size.
My 2 criticisms of the room would be that it could have done with some hanging hooks. We were here for 2 weeks snowboarding and had jackets, pants, helmets etc. We ended up hanging them over chairs and laying them on the couch, as there was nowhere else to hang damp clothes. My second one would be that there was no safe. There were safety deposit boxes available behind reception, but I'd much rather keep my cash, wallet, passports etc in my room.

The location of the hotel was ideal for us. We'd read on TripAdvisor that some hotels were noisy at night because they were in the centre of the village, and that The Summit didn't suffer from this as it's just on the edge of the village. The reviews were correct! The hotel across the road is being renovated, and the builders worked 7 days a week... and started really early. It didn't really bother us, as we were awake early every day anyway.

The hotel is about a minutes walk from the Olympic park, and a couple of minutes away from most restaurants. The Whistler Village Gondola is about a 10 minute walk. Across the road is the Market Place supermarket that sells everything. This is very useful especially with having your own little kitchen - as we got all our breakfast cereals / fruit / juice etc there. There is also a Dominos / McDonalds / KFC across the road if you fancy getting a takeaway back to your room one night.

There was a courtesy ski / board storage area when you come in the front door. There were guys there who could wax / tune your board / skis if required, and offered friendly advice about weather / conditions etc.

Also just inside the front door was a complimentary coffee / hot chocolate machine. Most afternoons when we returned from the slope there was a table with marshmallows, cream, chocolate chips - and some days there was Baileys to put in your hot chocolate too!

There was a complimentary ski shuttle that the hotel runs to take you to the gondola. On a Monday & Tuesday, Darcy drives the bus, and Wednesday to Sunday is Mark. 2 of the nicest guys you could meet... good fun and very informative. The bus takes a few minutes, and just runs back and forth from 8.00 till 16.15, with an hour off at 12.00-13.00.

The hotel offer a free WiFi service which worked well in most areas. Unfortunately our room was at the very end of the building, and we could only get a decent WiFi signal when standing at our door! Better than paying £6 per megabyte roaming charges though!

We visited the hot tub / pool most days after we'd been snowboarding. The temperature of the hot tub was perfect, and it was funny sitting outside with snow pouring out of the sky! The hot tub was a bit on the small side, but it never had more than 7 people in it when we were there. The pool was heated, but was a little chilly for me. There were people using it regularly though, so maybe I just preferred the warmth of the hot tub!

I would definitely recommend The Summit to anyone looking to go to Whistler, and I would definitely stay here again if staying in Whistler. It's in an ideal location, our room was great, and the extras (hot chocolate, Wifi etc) were an added bonus. I would make sure we had a room more central in the corridor to avoid the lack of WiFi signal!
Whistler is a beautiful place, and we were very lucky to have piles of fresh snow delivered daily for our first 11 days. I don't know if I'd feel quite the same about Whistler if we'd arrived 2 weeks earlier to bare runs!

Just spent two weeks here and have absolutely loved it. Everyone is extremely friendly and all amenities are excellent. Mark the driver is just the icing on the cake and made our trip really memorable. He's the best. Emilie was terrific especially looking out for our international parcel.

Room Tip: No fitness centre which would have been good to have.

The summit lodge has everything you need for a stay in whistler. We arrived at the lodge after a long flight and transfer and we were met with a welcoming team who went out do their way to make our stay the best. The accommodation exceeded our expectations and the tapas bar meant that we were well fed for the day ahead. The weather was superb and we took advantage of everything that whistler had to offer. The rooms at the summit were very clean and well presented and we hope to return to whistler and the summit next year. Well done the team at summit lodge!

This is the first time I've been to whistler, and I highly recommend this hotel. Emma took care of all our booking needs, and was very friendly and professional. From our arrival the staff were very friendly and we took advantage of the free hot chocolate / coffee that is available every day after skiing, even with a splash of bailies if you want!

The room was great, enormous beds that are more comfortable to sleep in than my own. Plenty of space to move around and a sofa to relax on. Importantly there is a small kitchen area, giving you the choice of making some breakfast and a fridge for keeping your food chilled but not frozen (the outdoor fridge was -25 whilst we were there). The hotel is located just opposite a shopping area where you can get all your shopping, and importantly beer!

The cleaning staff are also very friendly and helpful, doing a fantastic job of cleaning the rooms, or not if you hang the notice. It is worth mentioning that they really are there to help. One of us once left the room, and we had been keeping the door open with the lock as we were a party with more than one room, and the cleaning lady was immediately knocking on the door to check that there was someone still in there. So top points for security.

Your skis / board are kept for free in a ski locker / tuning shop which is just inside the door, run by some very friendly chaps. So if you leave with out a ski service, you can get it done there! When you want to ski, there is a free shuttle run by Mark, who is probably the nicest guy on the planet. He runs back and forwards to the lifts, taking 8min in total, so even if you just miss one you really don't have to wait for that long. In the afternoon he is waits at the bottom of the lifts, ready to take you back. If you wish to walk it is probably around 10-15min, so not too long.

After skiing there is free hot chocolate and coffee and a free hot tub and sauna, so I don't think that much more needs to be said really! My impression was that the hot tub was well maintained, and the pool/hot tub were cleaned every morning. So Fantastic. The coffee machine in the lobby is available between 8 and 10, so fresh free espresso every morning is also a bonus!

So, in conclusion we had a great holiday and will most certainly head back there, a big thank you to Emma and the team. Keep up the good work!

Room Tip: If you ask for rooms overlooking the pool you can see the hot tube to check out how busy it is.

When we took advantage of Whistler's 49% off if booked by August 30 sale, the Summit Lodge and Spa seemed to offer the best bang. We wanted a hotel that had a kitchenette and laundry facilities, and through its a bit of a hike to the slopes it seemed to be our best bet. Overall we were happy with our stay. It took a few days to grow on us since it was a little noisy at first (could have been the time of year), but all the staff was incredibly friendly and each day brought a new surprise in the lobby after a day on the mountain (champagne and strawberries on Valentines, hot chocolate and bailey's at another point, etc). Emilie at the front desk and Susan our housekeeper really stood out for their excellent customer service. The rooms were very clean and the hot tub and sauna was very welcome at the end of each day. Initially we thought we would have to walk in our ski gear each day, but the hotel provides a very efficient shuttle with very friendly drivers. Its also super close to grocery and drug stores as well as the apres scene. All in all we were very happy with our stay and would come back. The only thing that was slightly inconvenient was how difficult it was to get a table at Elements Tapas located in the lobby. While it is its own entity, it really didn't seem to cater to the hotel guest as much as some of the other restaurants in town. They don't take reservations and the wait was always far too long. But again, that isn't anything to do with the Summit management and we were happy with our functional kitchenette.

Room Tip: We were on the outside with a view toward the village. It was noisy with the snow plough each mornin...

We had our first ever trip to Whistler last week and had the pleasure of staying at the Summit Lodge and Spa. This hotel is situated a very short walk from the shops, bars and restaurants of the main village. This means that you can enjoy a little more peace but definitely not feel out of the way. There are several takeaway food places within 100yds (Splitz burger is recommended) and a small 7-11 Grocery store for any essentials.

Our room had a massive king size bed plus a sofa bed for out two sons (age 9 and 12). We had a small kitchenette and a dining table big enough for four. The bathroom was clean and stocked with nice products plus a hairdryer. In room coffee/tea facilites were available and everything was completely satisfactory.

Our room overlooked the pool and hot tub area, which we used everyday. The hot tub is a little small but this never caused an issue and it was great to chat to fellow guests after a day on the mountain.

However, what really marks this hotel out as special were the staff. Everyone, from the ski room guys, to the front desk staff and cleaners were friendly, helpful and trustworthy. We were always greeted pleasantly and questions were answered helpfully and with a smile. And the final icing on the cake were the two shuttle bus drivers. Mark was the star of the show for most of the week, offering a great shuttle service both to and from the slopes. He was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. For two of the days Darcy covered the driving and he was just great too.

The main thing this place lacks is true doorstep skiing but we genuinely never felt this to be an issue and the shuttle bus meant getting an early lift was very easy. In summary, if you are looking for reasonably priced self catering accommodation in Whistler I wouldn't hesitate to book in at the Summit Lodge and Spa.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the pool which meant no street noise whatsoever
