We stayed in a suite. The hotel is in a great location with ample parking in a secure underground car park. Great friendly reception staff for who nothing is too much trouble. The room was a little tired, but nothing was dirty or broken. Would certainly say it was value for money and if you are just looking for a base or somewhere to lay your head, then look no further!

From the outside the hotel looks a little dated but the room we booked (which had two queen beds) was great, done up nicely, comfortable, and spacious. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, answering our questions on where to go to hire ski gear and catch the lifts (it was our first time in Whistler). They also provided us with discounts for ski hire and breakfast. Would be happy to stay here again.

Recently spent three days, two nights here. For what you pay, it is great. It is right in the village, a two minute walk to the Whistler base and a ten minute walk to Blackcomb base. Right in the middle of restaurants and shopping so it's easy to get to.

Had an issue with the hot water taking 7-8 minutes to arrive once the tap was turned on, and the walls are VERY thin so you hear a lot of what's going on next door and outside.

Staff was very friendly and helpful when needed, and everything was clean.

A/C was a little odd to operate being that the unit was in the room above the bed. And the patio doors, which led out to the pool deck, didn't lock overly well.

Parking was a tad on the expensive side at $18 a night. You can park in the outdoor lot across the street for less.

Overall if you are just looking for somewhere to dry your boots and crash it is great value for the money.

Overall, great location, helpful staff, OK price (off season) but just an average property. Rooms are starting to look worn-out and lack basic amenities (like heat!). I shared a Queen Studio with two friends for one night in mid-March -- it was just OK. Compared to other properties in the village, it was the most affordable, which is why we booked it. If it were not for the lack of heat (which others have reported) and other problems with the kitchen, I could have given this property three stars. I give the staff four stars.

PROS -
Location - Great! With easy access to the base of Whistler Mountain and the rest of the village, the property is a block off the main pedestrian path (and noise). We were staying in the building across from where you check-in.

Parking - Parking is a little confusing at first (next to the Sundial Hotel), but secured. We checked-in the morning after driving up for Vancouver -- hassle-free and staff were courteous -- parked the car and went off to ski for the day.

Staff - Overall, professional, courteous staff. Some staff were extremely helpful, trying to figure out how to deal with the no heat situation and providing us with several options.

Room - Clean room, toiletries provided, nice big window and small fireplace (but you have to bring/buy logs). Closet space in loft but not much downstairs, nook under the steps and a bench.

Property/facility - ski lockers provided with each room, small indoor pool/hot tub available, washer & dryer on each floor (I think) and vending machines in the hallways. Nice lobby area with plenty of seating, fireplace, and free coffee provided in check-in area (along with another seating area). I believe that guests have access to a pool (at an adjacent hotel).

CONS -
Challenges getting the room we reserved and paid for - First, we changed room once and were told we could change rooms a second time -- a first for me! After picking-up our room key, bring our gear upstairs, and started to unpack the cart, we realized the front desk had made a mistake; we had reserved a studio with a kitchen and were given a room with 2 bed, no kitchen. Apparently there were no more studios left; was never made clear why the front desk thought the best alternative was a room without a kitchen. We were 'upgraded' to a Queen Studio. Back-up we went to settle in. The room was very cold, so we figured we would turn on the heat, head out for a few hours, and come back to a warm and cozy studio. No such luck! No heat whatsoever! Our options were to stay and be cold and move all of our gear again. We were tired and decided to stay put. Staff brought us extra blankets, logs for the fireplace and space heaters (we ended up blowing a fuse) -- great upgrade!

Rooms - It's an average, clean room, nothing fancy. The decor was a little dated and showed wear and tear. Large window and tall ceilings, which give the space an airy felling, but without functioning heat, turned out to be a problem (had to keep the curtains closed to keep the space warmer). The Queen Studio was split level with a queen bed upstairs (loft) and two single fold out beds in the living room. There was a large living room table pushed up against the wall -- pulling it out to allow everyone to sit comfortably means blocking passage to the hallway leading to the bathroom and upstairs. The fireplace looks like, but does not do a good job of distributing heat (in fairness, not sure it was built to be anything but decorative).

Kitchen - The kitchen was poorly executed. The utensil drawer was above the sink - I'm 5'8" and found it challenging to see what was inside. Clearly not designed with children or people with disabilities in mind. Four of each of the following were provided: plates, soup bowls, mugs and glasses, but no cereal bowls or salad bowl/larger containers of any kind. Fridge was small but worked. The oven was small and did not work. It took 30 minutes to bake our pizzas and even after all that time, they were still not properly cooked. Small sink and counter space (expected) and cleaning supplies were provided.

Room Tip: Bring slippers for the bathroom -- very cold tiles! Don't forget your bathing suites. And ask to...

As other reviewers have pointed out, the Whistler Village Inn + Suites is in a sorry state of repair. However, for cheap accommodation in a great location it does the job, and when it does get that badly needed overhaul, the price is going to go up dramatically.

The good: location, price, comfortable Murphy bed, full kitchen (in Studio Suite), decent (though small) outdoor pool and hot tub, complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby, free use of Internet-enabled computer in lobby. The place was clean, however, and staff were all friendly and helpful. It's about a three-minute walk (in ski boots) to the lifts to both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.

The not-so-good: poor state of repair, uncomfortable sofa bed, no water in kitchen (we were there only 2 nights, so got water from bathroom), one-cup-at-a-time coffee maker, very slow (though new-looking) toaster, extremely dull knives (couldn't cut bread or salami!), gas fireplace (wood-burning fireplaces are advertised on their website for the suite we booked). I have seen better bath tubs in a garbage dump. The outdoor pool and hot tub are in fine shape, but small. Six people in the hot tub is a crowd.

So, if you're on a tight budget but want to stay in a great location in Whistler Village, by all means give it a try. But if you want a "nice" place to stay, you are going to have to spend a little more. We stayed there the first couple of nights after spring break, and the hotel was mostly empty, so we can't tell you about noise levels except to say that the sound of slamming doors and people walking down the hall in ski boots was common in the morning (as I would expect at a ski resort).

Thank you for taking the time to write regarding your stay with us. As you point out we have a great location, at a very good price, comfortable Queen Murphy bed in studios rooms, full kitchen, outdoor heated pool and hot tub, complimentary coffee and tea, in room fireplace, free high speed internet, the hotel is clean and our staff are friendly and helpful. All of this and we are only a three-minute walk (in ski boots) to the lifts to both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. These are all the features that make this hotel a solid 3 diamond property, located in a prime location, offering the best value in Whistler.

We recently spent two nights in whistler our room was a two level so our daughter could have the Murphy bed and we could have our own room. We struggled with the heat not being warm enough on main level and too warm for upper. The room is very 70's tired. Rug on stairs is loose and a trip hazard. The toilet was so loud when flushed we thought we were still on the plane. Another family that we travelled with stayed at the crystal lodge, paid half what we did and had a nicer more modern room. There are so many choices to stay at whistler I would suggest not staying here. Loved the village the atmosphere, food choices everything but our accommodations. I did not complain but addressed my concerns at checkout and did not get any empathy for my concerns.

In 2013 we stayed in the main hotel; thought it was alright for the
location. This year 2014 we were surprised that when the desk staff
handed over the key they pointed to a location across the road in a separate
building. They said it had been renovated. When we got in the room it was so
run down. Dirty in corners. So disappointed. Will stay some where else next
year.
