“One of the best hostels I've been”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

We expected a normal hostel but it's more like a hotel. We took a private room and everything looked very clean, they even have two towels, shampoo and a bar of soap per person! The cafe is reasonably priced and has a there's quite a lot of different choices. All in all we would come back here if we were coming to this side of Canada again!

Our two day stay with 2 teenagers was a blast. Huge living area and nice kitchen with lots of fridge and storage space and modern appliances. Breakfast on the balcony, huge TV, laundry, iron. The place is full of very modern design everywhere: shelves, elevators, pictures on the wall, bunk beds, common rooms.

Absolutely amazing friendly and helpful staff. Only 10 min drive from the main Whistler village, shuttle service is always on time. 2 Volleyball nets and sand, playground, walking trails, football field. Not to mention the view. It's amazing! Everything there is still full of Olympic spirit. Free WiFi

Cafe downstairs opens at 7 am, vegetarian choices, our kids loved the breakfast wrap.

Compare to busy, festive Whistler village our stay at Hi Whistler was a serene relaxing getaway.

Room Tip: The hostel was booked for private rooms. We booked 4 separate bank beds in a male dorm which was a p...

Great clean hostel. This is the first time I have seen a HI-hostel this great! The hostel was great, clean and new (build for the Olympics in 2010). Unfortunately the hostel is almost a 20 min bus ride from Whistler itself. Buses start early and end late so dont worry about being able to get back in time, you will be alright.

The hostel itself has a great kitchen, dinner area, living space, laundry room and tv/movie theatre.

The small block where the hostel is located doesn't offer much. A 15 min walk from the hostel however is a great brewery (whistler's brewery - 5CAD discount on the tour with hi hostels membership card) with cheap bear and a lovely bakery across from the brewery, make sure you check it out.

The hostel was definitely worth the money!!

This is a fantastic place to stay. It's clean, modern and is like staying in a hotel! There are tons of facilities (including a large clean kitchen) and the staff are helpful too. Please bear in mind that it's not in the main Whistler resorts, so you will have a 5 minute drive to get to them, or alternatively there is a bus stop right outside. There is a small shop across the street where you can get a few odds and ends. The only niggle that we experienced was that the wifi was very temperamental.

Lovely, friendly hostel. So helpful and cheeky cafe is cute, affordable and tasty. Superb facilities. Like a hotel. They should note the distance from town to all prospective travellers and perhaps provide a refundable bus pass to assist in the 20 minute bus ride to Whistler village.

Love this place. I spent several weeks here last year and had an amazing time. One of the best hostels I've been to in Canada. Facilities are great, staff are cool and the whole place feels shiny and new. This is by far the best place if you're trying to do Whistler on a budget. The only downsides are the lack of a proper bar and the bus commute into town, but these are minor issues and you get used to the latter pretty quickly.

The building is modern and the rooms are quite nice (4 bed dorm) the bathrooms clean and plentiful. The kitchen and common areas were pretty good. What really ruined our stay was the Frisbee Team. A bunch of drunken yobbos that took over the whole hostel - couldn't even have breakfast because the entire kitchen was "closed" for their personal use. At night they were so roudy -I don't know what they were doing but I thought the walls and ceiling were going to collapse - sounding like they were wrestling and throwing people on the ground or something... this was at around 10pm). Then they all went out, coming back at around 2am when the noise started up all over again. They also stole beers from our group, despite it being labelled. We caught them out and they didn't seem to care. I understand group events like this can be a great money earner for a hostel - but is it really worth it if it ruins the stay for other guests? Some staff interaction and control of these idiots would have been nice. Despite all of this, this is a nice hostel and the the facilities were really good. I had a nice falafel wrap at the little cafe on the ground floor. Be aware that this hostel is not located in Whistler Village and you'll have to get buses in and out of town.
