Easy to find with a smart and modern exterior. The staff on reception were helpful. The room was large very clean with a large comfortable bed and pillows. We especially enjoyed the outdoor seating area with a small swimming pool and hot tub.
There is no bar or restaurant in the hotel but Whistler village is just across the road with all of the shops and services you would expect.
There was plenty of underground car parking available at an extra cost. Whistler even in summer was a great little town with lots to see and do.

Great hotel, good location, friendly service, and generally a top flight experience. Except ... there were no dining facilities!

The staff were always attentive. The venue welcoming, even if you wrestle with the odd bike (or I would guess skis in winter!).

I have never stayed in Whistler village since it was built, as I lived close by! But ... I will definitely return! And to Aava Hotel!!!!

This is a nice hotel. Fits in well with the local surroundings and is very convenient for the centre of Whistler. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff very polite and helpful. The reason it hasn't been given the full star rating is that they charge for parking. They have a dedicated underground car park and i think they should either include the car parking charge in the price or give you the parking fro free. Other than that I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: If you arrive by car don't bother unloading your luggage at the lobby, check-in and your room ke...

Right in the heart of Whistler!

Loved this hotel was "geared" towards bikers. The networking opportunities to meet fellow bikers was really good.

The room had a couple small issues and the mattresses were a bit beat up but nothing that was a showstopper.

I agree that this should fall between a 3.5 and a 4 star boutique hotel. Despite the traditional rating, I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We really researched the location before booking, so we knew what we were in for. So for us, the location was perfect (within a five minute walk to the north Village). We had a wonderful king bed with a feather duvet comforter, Aveda products, plush bath towels, and a Keurig coffee maker.

We were allowed to check in early as we wanted to drop our bags off and go to the Peak to Peak while we had good weather. So that really put our minds at ease knowing our bags would be secure while we went sight seeing during the day. A little gesture like that went a long way for us.

Like others have mentioned before us, there are free services (use of a goPro camera, cruiser bikes, etc), but we chose not to use them.

I would definitely stay here again!

It takes a lot for my husband and I to write a critical review.

We often stay at the Fairmont in Whistler but decided to try a boutique hotel this time.

We stayed at the Aava at the end of June, checking in during the early afternoon. The price was good in comparison to other hotels. The hotel is rated 4 stars on some sites and 3.5 on others. Having stayed in several hotels ranging from 3 to 4.5, this hotel falls closer to 3.5.

We had no issues during our first night. When we awoke the next day we found bugs (we never opened the windows). Upon closer inspection I found LICE, Neither of us have ever had lice nor have we been in contact with any house, thing, or person who would have had it in the past few months. Unfortunately - I received them during this weekend and am left to deal with them for the next week or so.

We asked to change rooms upon finding the bugs and were quickly given a new room which we appreciated. When we went to pick up the keys we were told we would be given free parking...great, except we did not bring a car - something that could have been seen had our profile been checked properly.

The hotel offers complimentary bikes for a 2 hour rental ($10 per hour after that) which is a nice amenity. Having worked in a hotel before - it would have been nice if the front desk informed us of all the amenities available instead of us discovering them on our own (we would have taken advantage).

After all this, we had one more night left at the Aava and did everything with hesitance. We still were unsure about writing a critical review in case this was a one-off situation. This was until it came to check out.

We had requested a late checkout (12pm) the night before. At 11:55am a young man (hotel staff) knocked on our door and brashly asked "when are you leaving". We told him at 12pm to which he replied "well check out is at 11". We informed him we had requested a late checkout and would be leaving soon then he left. The sheer rudeness, lack of customer service was enough to really turn us off. We've stayed at countless hotels and have never encountered such an impolite interaction with hotel staff. We informed the front desk and were told a note was never made the night before.

All in all, we came in with higher expectations for what was to be a very special bday getaway. The beds and room were fine, location is good, but everything else definitely put a damper on our entire experience. We will be returning to the Fairmont or other well-known hotel establishment during our next trip to Whistler.

Dear "R G"

I was extremely disappointed to hear of your recent visit, and some of the details missed during your stay.

While we strive for perfection, it seems a lack of clear communication between the night and morning shifts caused an unfortunate communication issue with our teams, and a rather poor sounding inquiry by one of our staff members led to a disappointing service experience. We will be following up in each area to ensure proper improvements can be made.

Since your departure, we have had your initial room professionally inspected, as is our standard, and have found no indication of “LICE” or any other pest present in the room. As lice are generally transferred from person to person, the pest control firm suggested that it was very unlikely to be lice present in a hotel room for any length of time. As our opening windows have no barrier screens, we occasionally get some insects entering the building – their presence is sometimes unavoidable- my apologies.

It is unfortunate that such a negative TripAdvisor review was required to express your disappointment, however we do appreciate your feedback in any form so that we may make improvements in identified areas where valid, and insure we are always improving our property and guest experience for the future.

If there is any way I may assist further, please do not hesitate to contact me.

With kind regards.

Colin Hedderson
