“Great experience!”
Reviewed 23 January 2011

I had checked out this hotel on-line and liked what I saw – we were not disappointed! We were very happy with the service when we arrived and the room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was new and very clean with a lovely granite counter top.

The hotel is a short 5 minute walk to the gondolas and all the restaurants you can handle. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The hotel has a heated pool and an outside hot-tub that was very popular. The hotel even provides fluffy white bathrobes. We would definitely return to the Aava Hotel.
It was great value for the money.

I recently stayed at the Aava with a friend while skiing at Whistler. It was a few minutes walk to the village and skiing which was perfect. The hot tub was great after a day of skiing. The staff was friendly and had good tips for restaurants and ski rentals. More importantly the rooms were clean, beds were comfy and we had a view to the mountain.

On arrival there was a line up developing and one staff at reception whilst the others chatted in the back office, not a great first impression. The service was slow and inefficient.
The location of the hotel is great and minutes walk to the centre of the Village, the meeting I had was at the convention centre and that is very close by.
Cleanliness was good so no complaints there.
The real draw back was that the walls were extremely thin and you could hear absolutely everything. If you want a good nights sleep after a busy day this is definately not the hotel for you.
I would stay at the hotel again but only think the room rate is worth $99 per night or less and would pack ear plugs.

Our three generation famil y of 21 spent 3 days at the hotel for a ski holiday and 80th birthday celebration. The accomadation was excellent, the parking easy and the htel locationexcellent for access to all amenities. The price was reasonable as well Highly recomended.

My husband and I went to Whistler for a romantic weekend and signed up through the 'Suite Deals' for a four star hotel in Whistler. The one that we got was Aava Hotel, which did not at all meet our expectations for a romantic getaway. The decor was very sparse and sterile, the room was small and not at all cozy, and the lobby decor did not entice you to want to spend any time there except to check in and check out. We sat out at the pool, but the landscaping was not yet complete, so it was very sparse and unwelcoming as well. Compared with some other hotels at Whistler, this was a disappointment, and not one that we would stay at again.

Sorry to hear you did not enjoy your visit Debby-Lee.

With many more traditional hotels throughout the village, Aava had intentionally embarked on incorporating a more modern, and stylish decor throughout the property - receiving numerous rave reviews from our guests.

Although there is an overwhelming amount of information and resources available for a visitor to research in order to ensure their hotel selection will suit their personal sense of comfort and style, these "Secret" deals do not allow the visitor to select the individual property you might most enjoy.

Our seasonal landscaping (i.e. Summer) will also return to the pool area once the Spring is upon us, however we do not want to wish the snow away just yet - as we are having another epic skiing and boarding season in Whistler.

Tripadvisor is the BEST place to start your search of course, with honest reviews and often photographs included from past visitors. We would recommend selecting a specific hotel based on what you find comfortable, and inviting rather than risk disappointment of a random selection for such a special occasion.

Thank you for your visit.

The Aava hotel is located very close to Whistler Village, so everything is at a walking distance, very easy, and far enough to be away from the crowd and the noise at night. The hotel features a great underground parking for low-height vehicles (so your big-tires-redneck-truck will sleep outside), had great ski/snowboard lockers also, so your gear and snow stay out you your room. Staff is very friendly, the hot tube and warm pool are a must after a day riding the mountain. The rooms are new and cozy, absolutely clean, and the bed is fantastic. Wireless Internet works, but signal is weak, better use the cable on the room. Had the best sleep nights ever, better than home, better than anywhere else! Hotel is very quiet, but the air conditioner machine (independend for each room) is kinda noisy at night. Prices were high due to christmas and new years season, on the average of other hotels in whistles (around $ 350 a day, with nice breakfest at White Spot). Will stay at Aava again, for sure!

Glad you had a great visit RT75, and enjoyed your Aava visit.

We are constantly working on new details and property improvements based on our honest guest feedback, and appreciate hearing of the details which you had enjoyed, and of those which require some attention.

Aava offers no charge wireless, and cable internet throughout the property, and I regret that we are intermittently troubled by the wireless signal strength during periods of peak guest demand. We are seeking advice on how to boost and improve, in order to service these heavy use periods.

Thank you again for your comments, and for joining us for your Winter holiday - (and big-tire redneck trucks are always welcome too! -- but they do have to sleep outside!)

Kind regards,

Colin Hedderson

Just returned from 4 nights at Aava Whistler Hotel with my boyfriend. I purchased a stay & ski package with lift tickets included so I got a great deal booking early.
Aava is a modern hotel with simple colours and decor. Location is awesome! Away from the hustle and bustle of the Village Stroll but only a 5-minute walk to the lifts, 2 minutes to the liquor store and Village, White Spot on the hotel property. Underground parking was $16 per night - not sure what the standard is out there.
Front desk staff was very pleasant at check-in but different staff was not very attentive at check-out. Most housekeeping staff will say hi as you walk by but a few avoided looking.
We had a 2 queen room - not very roomy but it was comfortable. The room is still very new and well-kept. Plenty of closet and drawer space, but washroom didn't have much counter space. Aveda amenities and iPod dock/radio are nice. Beds are a bit too soft for my liking but that's usually the case for me anywhere. My one major complaint is that the walls seem very thin. We could hear our neighbour every night - one night was kids and parents talking loudly, other nights was the TV or radio. (On our last night, the TV/radio next door was on the entire night into the morning!) Luckily we had a corner room so we had only 1 neighbour.
Wireless internet is included and in my opinion, that is a must at any hotel nowadays. We used the hot tub which was packed every afternoon. The pool is heated but not quite warm enough for me to swim in.
Overall a comfortable stay at a great location!
