“Location couldn't be better”
Reviewed 25 December 2011

Our family has been coming to Whistler someime around Xmas for the past 7 years. Every year we have stayed at a different place. Overall this was about the best place we have stayed in. The value was excellent - this was the best priced accomodation of this type in the Village this year. It was so nice being across from the food store, a short walk to the lifts and close to restaurants. My daughter was able to go out to the bar with friends and walk back easily across the street. We found the service staff friendly and efficient most of the time. At times the staff seemed a bit out to lunch. For example, when checking in I was told there was no WIFI in the building and that I should go to Starbucks or use the pay computer in the lobby. But then my friends told me they had been advised that there was free internet in the lobby which turned out to be true. And then when I tried to connect in my room, I realized there was pay access to internet.
But I agree that this place isn't for everyone. Being so close to the bars means that some of the rooms are very noisy. In times past this might have bothered me but no more. I would probably however request a room on the quiet side next time. The supposed kitchen was more like a breakfast bar with a small fridge but surprisingly a large dishwasher. Our unit was not too well stocked - no knife and cutting board to start. No dining room table. But it worked well for our purposes. My husband and I were a little surprised to find only four twin beds in the unit ie no double bed. But everything worked and being in this location was enjoyed by all of us.

Room Tip: If possible noise is an issue, ask for a room on the quiet side of the building.

We spent 5 nights at the Blackcomb Lodge for our Whistler winter vacation. The location can not be beat! A minute away from a grocery store, liquor store, pharmacy, taxi loop, restaurants, coffee shops, stores and just a few minutes from the lifts! The studio we had was decent. Full kitchen that we loved! After reading other reviews about noise problems from the bar, we asked for a quiet room and indeed our room was very quiet! Just one note - housekeeping missed our room on the 3rd day after we called the front desk multiple times about it. However, they made up for it the rest of the time. Also, wireless Internet in the rooms is not free. Definitely planning to stay at the Blackcomb Lodge for our winter vacation next year!

Pros:
- Located right in the village.
- Walking distance from anything you'll need.
- A proper HOT hottub, sauna and heated pool.
- Staff was always friendly

Cons:
- Can be a little noisy sometimes as there are a few bars really close to the hotel.
- The lack of variety of pillows; they were too big.

I was received like a friend, the staff was very kind. The room was large and well furnished. The no noise policy after 10 pm was enforced, at least it seems like it as there was absolutely no noise after 10.

Even though the room was smaller then we expected (we had a larger loft the year before) it was still quite spacious and fit all four of us with our vast amounts of stuff. The beds were really hard though. Apart from that there is nothing negative I could say about the lodge, it was an amazing stay, with friendly staff and great service.

Got this as a last minute deal and figured anything mid-village would be alright. That was until about 12:30 am when the nightclub right beneath our room was in full swing.

Overall, it was typical inexpensive Whistler ski fair - the amenities are limited, the bed was only okay (very cheap feeling mattress), and the room had a fairly standard setup. Not bad for $85/night but this....?

They certainly never mentioned that the room was right over a club. A least that would have given me the opportunity to say 'do you have anything more expensive in which I MIGHT ACTUALLY GET SOME SLEEP???

When the clerk asked me how the night was when we were checking out and I said 'terrible because we were right over a nightclub' and his reaction was basically 'oh yeah, that's not great - too bad', I knew that I wouldn't come back here. Waste of money - I'm exhausted today.

Crew start cleaning too early in the morning and it's rather noisy from early in the morning but the rims are very clean and fully equipped with anything you may need, shower pressure is low and Internet wasn't available, location is great in the village and price is very good
