We have just returned from a 6 night stay at First Tracks. This was our 3rd visit to Whistler, on the first occasion we stayed in a catered chalet on the edge of lake Alta, the second time we stayed in Whistler Village and so to get a different perspective on Whistler we opted to stay at Creekside this time. The 2 bedroom apartment was excellent, quite spacious when compared with other apartments in other ski resorts. it was very clean and had a good selection of bathroom amenities. It's proximity to the Creekside gondola was great (just as close as the website indicates), and we made the most of the hot tubs each afternoon. Apart from wanting to experience Whistler from a different perspective, another reason we chose Creekside was that it was considerably cheaper than staying in the main village. All in all a very nice property. The downside for us was that it was seriously lacking in restaurants. (we gathered that there had been a few more but that they had closed down) We did taxi back over to the village on a couple of occasions but after a hard day skiing it's nice to just be able to stroll back home again, rather than wait for a bus or taxi. Dusty's (the only bar/restaurant near by) was absolutely packed each day from about 3pm till around 7pm. On the Sunday night (having been over in the village to watch the Fire and Ice show) we headed back to Creekside with the idea of having dinner in Dustys, knowing that by the time we got there (7.45pm) it would have quietened down. It certainly had and when we sat down we were told that we couldn't dine there as we had our children with us (aged 12 & 15) and there are no children allowed in the bar/restaurant after 8pm!! Obviously some archaic Canadian law and most bizzare, given that Creekside is very much geared towards families. As there are no alternatives the night resulted in a quick trip to the Supermarket - not what we had planned for our last night in Whistler. So, whilst we were very pleased with our accommodation, we wouldn't return to Creekside until there are significantly more dining options to choose from.
