My husband and I have happily stayed at this Four Seasons at least half a dozen times but this last trip in March 2014 was very disappointing. My family and I have frequented many Four Seasons through the years and always look forward to the exemplary service and experience so I hope this time was only a one off.
To start, during my father's stay in February of 2014, there was a miscommunication in his booking and so he had to forfeit his third night stay due to the cancellation policy. We understood that and accepted the terms. However, the assistant manager at the time did mention at the that when my father returned for his visit in March 2014 he would try and "do something" for us. So when we booked our stay March 2014 we contacted Mr. Doring but his response was that there was nothing he could do as the hotel was busy and fully booked. A bit disappointed we asked if he could even waive our parking fee. The response we got was that that would be impossible since the valet is contracted out and out of his hands. I found this a bit peculiar and not very truthful because during my stay at the hotel in May 2013 the manager at the time waived our parking fee for the entire stay (for an unrelated reason)!
Another issue, upon booking my sister had requested for a crib. When checking in she had to ask again a second time. However when she arrived at her room the crib was still not there and had to call housekeeping a third time. THis time they brought a playpen, not a crib. So finally upon the fourth try, the crib arrived.
The first night I kindly asked housekeeping if they could do turn down at 6pm since my baby needed to sleep shortly after. However housekeeping never ended up coming.
This next issue is something very minor but thought I would mention; the slippers that were delivered to my room were both left feet!
My brother in law went skiing during our stay in Whistler and enjoyed the ski concierge. For some reason, the last day when he finished up and arrived at the ski concierge he was ignored and no staff member came to assist him.
We asked concierge to help us book dinner for 8 people at the Sidecut for our Saturday dinner. However, when we arrived the hostess informed us that only 6 people were booked. She managed to arrange for a table but it took awhile to juggle all the reservations since the restaurant was fully booked
I understand that the hotel was busy during this time in March, but I really don't think the service and experience at a Four Seasons should be conditional. I just booked our family vacation in September at the new Four Seasons Disney and hoping that we will have the Four Seasons experience we have come to know. I truly hope this time was an exception.
