Owner description: Whistler Mountain Bike Park has something for every level of rider. Gentle, banked cruisers through the Coastal forest. Tight and twisty single track - perfect for intermediate riders. For the armour clad, full face wearing, 50lb. bike group there are steep rock faces, gnarly, root strewn lines, drop offs of all descriptions and more.

“Best place to ride downhill!”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Whistler is the mecca of downhill mtb. Friendly staff. Extremely challenging trails. Quick and efficient lift system. Excellent mtb day camps for kids.

“Where I saw the first bear”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

Uau... such a fantastic experience was to spot a bear in the wild while hiking around the park. We also saw a family of bears from the gondola. It is a must visit.

“Exclusion clauses Like you've not seen them before!”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

We were fortunate that our stay coincided with the mountain biking competition, which the kids enjoyed looking at, especially on the big screens. Although we would have liked our children to take part in the some of the activities on offer, including some mountain biking, we were put off by the very lengthy exclusion contracts one has to sign - essentially absolving the company, running the activities, from all liability, even their own negligence!

“Bike Park 101 sure is alot of fun”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

It was my 50th birthday a few days ago and I wanted to try something new. For years I've watched the mountain bikers flying down the runs and I figured it was time to give it a go.

The Bike park 101 package looked interesting and a pretty good deal that includes equipment rental (bike helmet knee/elbow pads, gloves), lesson and a couple of runs down the lower mountain. The groups are a maximum of 4 riders.

The instructor was great. we covered all the basics of mountain riding at the top including pedal position, body position and, most importantly, braking. As you ride down there are many stops with the instructor providing tips for the next sections of the trail.

It was a blast. Downhill riding is alot different than just riding around a few trails in your local park.

I would recommend that you already have good basic biking skills and a little off road experience before trying this out though. It's quite the full body workout and balance is important. The lessons are invaluable and you learn a great deal in a short amount of time.

Don't be intimidated when you look up from the base of the lift. The jumps and ramps you see are called 'The Boneyard' and are for the Pros only. Most of the biking is on trails through the trees with varying degrees of difficulty.

I'm definitely going to do this again (much to my wife's dismay).
