“THE place to stay in Whistler”
Reviewed 25 September 2011

We have stayed here twice now, and have booked for 2012 already.

Why?

1. Location - less than 5 mins walk to the ski lifts, via the Pan Pacific Mountainside where you have a ski locker for all your kit. It is also close to bars / restaurants in the village.

2. Rooms - we have stayed in a 1 bed suite both times, loads of space and the benefit of a small kitchen. We like to relax and cook for ourselves while away and this offers us all we need.

3. Staff - everyone we came in to contact with was helpful and friendly, and went out of their way to help us. We asked to swap sides of the hotel for the view, and although they couldn't do it straight away, as soon as there was availability they moved our bags and put us in a new room.

4. Breakfast - the key to a good day on the slopes is a good breakfast, and PP offers this in spades, bacon, eggs loads of pastries and strong coffee. A great way to start the day!

Pan Pacific Whistler, like all other hotels in Canada, have amazing staff. Don't know how they do it, but it is a welcome change from some hotels in the U.S. They seem to be mostly from Australia or New Zealand and so helpful and nice. The hotel is located right in the center of the village, steps away from the restaurants and shops. It is bit further from the lifts compared to some other hotels, including Pan Pacific Mountainside. May be bit tiring walking that distance with skis and boots. We were there in September, so no problem for us.

The hotel rooms are large, well equipped with a large fridge, microwave, dishwasher and all utensils. There is also a gas fireplace which gives out nice heat. The bedroom is also nice, with its own flat screen TV and a very comfortable bed.

We used the hot tub, but not the sauna. Nice and relaxing after a long day of walking around.

The included buffet breakfast was also very good. Not a lot of item, but plenty of fresh fruit, good coffee, pastry, cold meats and cheese.

If you are a runner/walker, the Lost Lake loop is very nice - around 7 km - and beautiful. It starts just across the street from the hotel.

Overall, an excellent stay.

spacious and contemporary room, good locations with commanding view (at higher floor),
good selection breakfast buffet.

We stayed 1 night in Sep11 during our trip to Vancouver/Whistler. Totally relaxing, excellent customer services, enjoyed its swimming pool, sauna, and hot tub. Couldn't ask for more.

Room Tip: ask for higher floor.

Great location in Whistler village. Our room had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and large, ultra comfy lounge area.Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was simple, no hot dishes on offer.

One of the best hotel stays we have ever had. The location is perfect – recessed from the busy village stroll, with no restaurant on site (other than the breakfast room) means it’s nice and quiet by Whistler standards but still two minutes walk to the Village gondola. The narrow but long pool and hot tubs offer views of the mountains. Given we stayed in September, the hotel was perhaps a little quiet (although we still saw quiet a lot of people at breakfast) but the complementary – not asked for - upgrade to a one-bedroom suite with balcony was still a great touch, and the suite really felt more like a small luxury apartment than a hotel room, with two TVs, a well equipped kitchen, sofas and chez-lounge. Breakfast is fine, continental so not hot choices but good quality and nice to have, although if you were staying longer than a couple of days you would probably want to try one of the great cafes.

The service could not be faulted. We arrived really early and left our bags (no problem), and then returned later (although still earlier than the check-in time) to see if we could get in the room before taking the Ziptrek Eagle Tour (which I would also heartily recommend). Again, they went the extra mile and got us in, but before our bags could be sent up we had to head off for the tour. On telling them this, they said someone would bring them up but, given how we had messed them around, it was no surprise that when we got back our bags weren’t there. Not irritated in the least, we called and our bags were brought right up by a very apologetic member of staff. Not only that, but when we returned from an evening out, a large chocolate gift (I would guess with a 20 dollar value at least) was waiting for us with a hand-written note of apology about the luggage.

Just a great hotel. If you are contemplating a stay in Whistler (particularly, given the suite sizes, a longer stay) then I cannot believe you will find a better one for the money.

We got a great rate on the Pan Pacific web site. Took the free parking available with the 'Preferences' package. Once there, was given a room upgrade while checking in (without asking for it) by the friendliest front desk staffer ever. So...for $139 a night, we got a large suite, free breakfast, free parking, awesome service, and all of this at a beautiful, modern 4 to 5 star hotel. How could it be any better? I realize we got a great off-season rate, but it's still the best hotel experience we've had, and would have been even paying full price.
