“Far better than a Bistro”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2014 via mobile

Ex La Rua chef and team run this gem, with La Rua quality food at Bistro prices. And the wine list is superb, great selection. We had the Tightrope Pinot Gris - awesome. Dave our waiter could not have been better, attentive but not "cloying" - haven't used that word in a while. The place is almost impossible to find, unless you know it is part of Roland's Pub, but discreetly next door. Great doors opening to the patio, this will be a hot top spot for years to come. Make a reservation. Remember where Hoz's used to be?

“Beautiful Evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2014 via mobile

We had dinner at the Red Door Bistro last night and were in food bliss. My wife had the Halibut in a white and lemon sauce with fresh asparagus and topped with prawns and salsa. My meal was a stew with duck, beef, sausage and many other great tasting things made for a meat eater like me. The prices are very reasonable and the meals are great.

Make a reservation or you'll never get a table!

“No longer just "pub food", this is real cuisine!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2014

What a pleasant discovery we just made on "creek side" in Whistler. Housed in what was once a "comfort-pub-food" hangout Roland's now offers a quality dining experience. The menu features interesting dishes and fresh ingredients. It is obvious that the culinary team is skilled and able to deliver well executed dishes: great combination of flavours, ingredients cooked properly, very nice presentation. The service staff is very attentive and friendly. Overall a very pleasant quality dining experience. The restaurant is small and busy, so if you are looking for a quiet romantic evening this may not be the best choice.

“Impossible to book”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2014

How disappointing to find - online - what seems to be a great restaurant, with superb menu and everything we're looking for, but impossible to book. At 9pm at night - an impossible time to visit the restaurant in person with an 8 year old - no email address, no online reservation system, and a phone message that rejects our call because we're staying in an exclusive holiday home rental that does not have caller ID.

Hello,

I am sorry you were not able to make a reservation with us while you were in Whistler. We are a very small restaurant with only 35-40 seats available. An online reservation system does not work for a small restaurant like ours unfortunately and we find it is easier to follow up on reservation requests by phone only, so we have not offered an e-mail address for reservations. I completely understand your frustration, especially having an 8 year old to consider. I hope you would be willing to try again on your next visit to Whistler, I just recommend calling a few days in advance for a reservation.

Regards,

Karen Roland/Owner

“Your search for great food ends here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2014

After looking for a restaurant with good food and ambience we stumbled on the Red Door. The only space left was at the bar....what great entertainment we experience watching the chefs cook, a culinary ballet. The food was beautifully displayed on our plate. I recommend the rock cod, the risotto was the best I've eaten. We ended with a delicious chocolate treat. The price was reasonable too. A hidden gem.
